Correct. Just lots of magnetic fields... Everything I know about Sub Warfare I learned from reading Tom Clancy Novels.

I don't know your level of involvement with 2A groups nor am I directing this at you, but it seems like there's a lot of finger pointing in the 2A community with people saying "they should do something." Sure, we have numbers out there, but how many have done anything to further the cause beyond complaining and accusing others of not doing enough?

You're probably right. Though I'd love to see a CEO of a big company sitting in the pokey... ok... fine, then jail a few recruitment agency owners. Recruiting is an incestuous business - EVERYONE would find out about it in a New York minute. Then, guess what? The vast majority of agencies will soon be unwilling to take the risk of hiring illegals. Same end result. I can live with that.

While I was serving on submarines, I was reading a lot of Tom Clancy. I was shocked about his knowledge of submarine warfare and tactics. That stuff is pretty classified...I can't imagine how he found out what he wrote about...

It's not really a surprise to me, or anyone in the submarine community, that Russian boats are becoming quieter. So are ours. I dont think we are losing ground to the Russians, or anyone else for that matter. New tech means quieter boats. I remember when I was on my last boat, (USS Salt Lake City) the Seawolf had just been launched. Seawolf was said to be as quiet at a flank bell (full throttle, for you non-submariners) as we were tied to the pier. The Seawolf class was, at the time, ground breaking tech. THE most capable, and the quietest nuclear powered submarine in the world. Seawolf was expensive, so we only built 3. The follow on class is the Virginia class boats, even better, every bit as capable, even quieter, but less expensive. I have been aboard one...absolutely incredible machine. Designed for littoral warfare, specifically for detecting and killing high end diesel boats in shallow waters...where diesel boats are the most deadly. This new Russian boat is apparently non-nuclear powered. Russian diesel boats were always pretty good, but very range limited. This boat sounds like it MAY even have Air Independent Propulsion (AIP), so that she may recharge her batteries without snorkeling. Most likely improved battery tech, so she can run longer and faster between battery charges. Sounds like she is cruise missle capabile, so I imagine she has some form of vertical launch system. Sounds like it may be an interesting new boat our Russian friends have there! Quiet as she may be, no worries, there are various ways to detect and track submarines. We have become quite astute at that, using acoustic, magnetic, and 'other' means. One more thing...as far as the submarine force is concerned, the Cold War never ended. We still keep close tabs on the Russian boats...just like the 'good old days'.

Mañana? What is your nj permit? You mean your purchase card?
  10. 1 point
Let's do it the same day...losers buys a case of beer of winner's choice??? @Zeke and @noobwitha22? No need for anything except a check for the fine folks in NH.
  11. 1 point
So no need for classes or anything? Do I need my NJ permit first?
  12. 1 point
indeed brah i agree but....it was still funny. did you mail out for yours?
  13. 1 point
Fill out form on line. Print out. Write check for $100. Mail to NH. Two weeks later you are GTG for PA carry. It's OK, not sure you're ready yet. Concentrate on acquiring and becoming proficient with whatever you decide to start out with. Worry about carrying down the road. Welcome to the hobby. Adios, Pizza Bob

Great way to spend a Saturday morning - attending a small gun auction over in PA. About 105 pieces from three estates. There were some terrific deals -like a Ruger 22/45 for $160. Some really nice hunting rifles and a few pieces of milsurp. A distinct absence of black rifles - not by design, but because these came out of collections that dated back to the 60's, as well as some newer stuff. I bid a Dan Wesson Pistol Pack, with seven barrels (2.5" / 4"/ 6" / 8" / 10" / 12" / 15"), three grips and two wrenches, up to $1K before dropping out. The guy I was bidding against got it for $1025. There was a pristine Colt Mk IV Series 70 that went for $550. A 1903M Springfield for $550. I did manage to bring home a lever action Marlin 1894, .44 Mag with a throwaway scope (Bushnell Sportview 4X) for an average price. Made in 1981 - maybe I can use it in PCC in IDPA , LOL. i love auctions, even those without guns - having guns is just the cherry on top. Adios, Pizza Bob

Thank you all for the welcome. It sounds right to me, I am a noob. But I live in NJ. From NJ, I am looking to start off with a .22. The upcoming weeks I am going to put my hands on and some rounds down range on a S&W Victory, a Ruger MkIV if a range has one for rent and I will see what other .22's the ranges have. My budget is pretty low and I am only looking to do target shooting for now.

AFAIK the 1887 copies are made in China or Italy. Only shotguns can be imported from China. We can import handguns, shotguns, and rifles from Italy. I don't think the GCA68 has any provision for importing "firearms" like the Shockwave.

Sorry for the delay in replying I have been away for a couple of days. The way I understand it, you have to apply for the ccw and request an exemption. It is then up to the chief to determine if your training is sufficient. https://mpdc.dc.gov/sites/default/files/dc/sites/mpdc/page_content/attachments/DC Regulations for Licenses for Concealed Pistols_through August 25 2017.pdf "2336.3 The Chief may, on a case by case basis, exempt a person from the requirements of §§ 2336.1 and 2336.2 if the person submits evidence that he or she has received firearms training in the U.S. military or has otherwise completed firearms training conducted by a firearms instructor that, as determined by the Chief, is equal to or greater than that required by the Act." I will be down in DC in a couple of weeks and will be submitting my application. I will find out if they accept my NRA instructor training as meeting their requirements (I have a variety of certifications including personal protection inside the home and personal protection outside the home). I found this DC training company at: http://discovershootingnow.com/dc-concealed-carry-classes/ Except for the legal class they say that DC may exempt you if you have substantial training (2 days in non-basic training) or if you are a firearms instructor.

this isn't a sad story, it's the cautionary tale of a moron. maybe if he'd have spent a little more money paying his bills (mortgage) instead of prepping supplies, he wouldn't have been kicked out on his ass. there must be BALANCE in everything you do, folks... i love how the article romanticizes his situation and spends half a sentence glossing over a very simple fact: PAY YOUR BILLS

The domestic violence issue was among the many Amanda (the APP reporter) & I spoke about. She was completely BLOWN AWAY by the info I gave her: 1. about how every gun in a DV household is TAKEN AWAY by the Cops, even the victim's, which leaves the abuser free to do as he/she pleases! 2. about the poor bastard in Morris Co. beat-up by his wife, bloodied & sitting on his stoop, watching his entire 200 gun collection being dumped into 5-gal paint pails to be hauled-away & stored in a damp evidence locker. 3. about how a mere verbal argument between a divorcing couple can lead to a false accusation of abuse & then trigger the confiscation of firearms & subsequent loss of rights. Also covered the fact that if you don't apply to retrieve your confiscated firearms that translates into losing your 2A rights FOREVER because it triggers a law / ruling on the books. 4. about how Carol Bowne would be arrested & tried for shooting / killing her abuser that actually killed her in her own driveway since the gun she didn't yet have would only have done her good IF IT WAS ALREADY LOADED & IN HER SUV WITH HER which requires a CARRY PERMIT (the Unicorn in the haystack) instead of merely a "permission slip to purchase".... So she went to check on her P2P on day #41 after applying and was stabbed to death on day #43. And then the biggie: If she lived across the Delaware in PA, she'd have had the gun for 43 days since PA is SHALL ISSUE and would have practiced with it & possibly had a self defense course learning how to defend her life with a firearm! I gave her the above & a few more examples of how "feel-good" laws can kill people. Since the story wasn't just about Carol, a lot never made it into the story, but at least I tried! I have a feeling I'll get called in the future as more gun control stories are written, at which time I'll keep pounding away at the Anti's. Thanks again for all of your encouragement & support. I hope I did our side well. Rosey http://www.cnjfo.com/join-us

STOP worrying, just answer NO! You are reading too much into the question and therefore falling into their unconstitutional trap!

all of mine are made in america. all sewn. no printed crap. even my thin blue line flags are made here. i don't have any flags that were flown over the arizona....but i do have a ft mchenry flag that i got at an auction at an nra dinner a few years back. that's framed, and going up on the wall in my bedroom when i'm done paneling. they don't need to. they can get here on work or student visas. then when they expire, they just stay.

i suspect that identity theft would go up, as employers tried to keep their slave labor, and as those illegals tried to find ways to stay here.

I was amazed at his knowledge of nucIear weapon authentication and capabilities of some intelligence assets. I read an interview with him. He was asked about his sources of what many knew to be highly classified information. He responded it was all obtained from overt sources. @Zeke is probably right.

At work, we have three managers who oversee 10 site supervisors who oversee roughly 75 employees. We were down to only one manager for a while - me. I was swamped, overwhelmed, and not sleeping well. I was prescribed something to help me sleep. I was some anxiety med I can't remember the name of. I took it for about a month - maybe 6 weeks. It helped me over the hump until the open positions were filled. I don't consider myself to have been treated for a psychiatric condition. I was stressed and not sleeping well - no disorder - no condition. I answer "No".

The grendel is a fun round but the creedmore overtook it so I would eliminate that. You have more options for CM. In general it may not be the most accurate route but I aim for rounds that I can get brass for readily and inexpensively. Sure I want a 375 cheytac but don't really have anywhere to shoot it. 308 has been my go to. but in your lit the 3006 would be my bet as bullets and brass are the cheapest and you have plenty of factory options

While the thought of tossing overcompensated CEO's in jail is a great idea the reality of the problem is that most of the illegal workers don't actually work for the company where the work is being done. When I worked for North Jersey Media Group which was later purchased by Gannett 80% of out labor force was subcontracted out to a temp agency. There was rampant sharing of bogus social security numbers and many illegals working for the temp agency. Every few months the name of the agency would change but the managers and the laborers would remain the same. NJMG and Gannett have 0 liability because the temp agency is responsible for vetting their employees. That is why the real criminals can't be prosecuted.

Don't get me wrong - if you want one, buy one. That’s all the justification you need. I just think there will be a robust “lightly used” market for these in the next year or so when folks realize that this doesn’t really fill the role they thought it would. I’ll probably pick one up at that point and kit it out like my breaching gun for training purposes.

No you won't cry. All "Voluntary Exposures" are strictly forbidden by the NJ AG. You can ask all you want, but anyone that Tazes you without you meeting the minimum UoF standard will be looking at some time off at best, and a few criminal charges at the worst. The only way to get tazed is be very extraordinarily stupid when the cops show up. If you want to come up to my town and act the fool, well then.... I'm your Huckleberry.
