4 pointsFYI – An often overlooked but very important factor in purchasing new tires for your car, SUV or truck is their age. Specifically, the date that each tire was manufactured and its relation to the date you purchase them and have them installed on your vehicle. Tire manufacturers recommend that tires should be replaced once they exceed six (6) years in age. This is regardless of the wear level of the tread and is due to the realization that the rubber polymers dry out over time and that dry rot can and does occur on the sidewalls, creating a potential weak spot that could lead to a blowout. Every tire sold in the U.S. must have a U.S. Dept. of Transportation (DOT) label that indicates the date that tire was manufactured. You can (and should), locate the DOT code on the tire’s sidewall. The key numbers are the last four digits that indicate the date of production. Of those last four digits, the first two indicate which of 52 weeks and the second two digits refer to the year. So for example, if the last four digits of the DOT code are 2615, that indicates that tire was produced in the 26th week of 2015. FYI – Last month, I needed to buy new tires for my old roadster. Only two companies still make tires in the size I need. The local tire chain store told me they have four correct sized tires in stock and could get them the same day. Once I arrived at the store, I checked the DOT codes on each tire and discovered that all of them were four (4) years old! I refused to buy them and asked the manager to please do some research with their distributor(s) to see if he could locate and obtain four tires in the size I needed, that are no more than 12 months old. He was able to do so within a week and those are the tires I purchased. Most consumers just naively assume that the “new” tires they are purchasing were manufactured at some point in the past 12 months, but that is not always the case. Your tires may have been sitting on a rack in a warehouse for several years before they were selected for your car. This is especially true for tires that may be an odd size that is not all that common. Many tire retailers, whether they are locals, chains or online sources, do not bother to check the age of the tires since their priority is to sell tires. Therefore, the burden for this issue is on the consumer to ask, check and verify for yourself what the age of each tire is that you are buying. Caveat Emptor.... Good luck…. AVB-AMG

3 pointsOK, somebody make this post a sticky. It will save everyone the time and effort of posting photos of their Glocks. Open this image: Glock 17 That's a photo of a Glock 17, a standard size Glock. The other standard size Glocks (G20, G21, G22, etc) look exactly like that. Now move closer to your screen. See how the gun looks bigger? That's a competition model (G34, G35, G41). They all look the same. Move a little closer to the screen. You are now looking at a long slide (G17L, G24, G40) There is no need to look at photos of the individual models; they're the same damn thing. Now, from your normal viewing position, move a little further from the screen. See how the image got smaller? You are now looking at a compact model (G19, G23...). Finally, move back just a little more. You're now looking at the subcompact models (G26, G27, G29, G30...) That's it. The entire Glock pistol model matrix, in one photo. Mods--you may now close this thread.

3 pointsFor passenger cars and trucks/SUV's nitrogen fill is a waste of money. Ambient air is already 78% nitrogen, so the benefit of making it 100% is negligible for everyday use. Beneficial for racing applications. Save your money. One last note - if your car is equipped with summer only high performance tires, they should be changed out soon, as temperatures consistently below 40 degrees cause the high hysteresis rubber to harden resulting in a loss of traction. If there is snow on the ground it will pack the tread and due to lack of tread element "squirm" the tire will not be able to clear the tread - now you're riding on four icy slicks. Adios, Pizza Bob

2 pointsMy entire point of the earlier posts was no NJ gun group has done a thing. Over half a million dollars a year is given to Scott Bach and he hasn't done a thing. Even if he was responsible for Christie's Vetoes it just delayed the inevitable. Even if the Hail Mary of getting Sweeney to table bills works it will only last til the next mass shooting or Sweeney is gone. If that half a million dollars a year was spent on lawsuits one will eventually get to SCOTUS. Once they rule it is for the most part permanent (yes SCOTUS has overturned previous decisions but it is rare). These suits should have already been filed and should be working their way through the courts so that next year when Kennedy Retires we get our guaranteed permanent victory. 2 pointsSo, is it time for an "Official Smith Wheel Gun Photo Thread"? I'm game.

2 pointsTuranza Serenity plus were tested too. They rated the Premier A/S the best. https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/testDisplay.jsp?ttid=188

2 pointsBlizzaks are dedicated snows, is that what you want? If not, I'd go Michelin Premier A/S

2 pointsLet me tell you my idea of comprimise. Take all of NJ's restrictive gun laws and just add "in the commission of a crime". Make NJ a constitutional carry state. Allow any weapon as long as you meet Federal requirements (another issue to discuss). Caught carrying a weapon in a holdup? 50 years no parole. Carrying an "assault weapon" while committing a rape? Crucifixtion! Possession of a firearm during a burglary? Staked out in the surf to be eaten by crabs! I am not concerned about penalties for these or other crimes. Because I'm not going to commit them! But the Democrats are not concerned about controlling crime. They are concerned about controlling the population. Make them dependent on the government for everything. Hitler and Stalin had the same idea. Now I'm not an advocate of people having chemical or nuclear weapons in their garage as some 2A activists are. But Democrats have evolved into wanting a complete control of the population. Far from what JFK would fight for ( the last genuine Democrat in my book). The examples I listed would achieve what the Democrats say they want. But not complete control of the population.

1 pointHoly wandering thread! Seriously, I think the discussion of NJ 2A orgs is an important and timely one. I, for one, am trying to decide where I want to put my dollars/time... and obviously, where it will get the most bang for the buck is a big consideration. However, since there's a certain amount of trashing going on here - which may (or may not) be fair, accurate, informed, etc. - and since it's a one-sided discussion where these parties can't defend themselves - perhaps we should at least open a new thread in the 1A Lounge for a wee bit more privacy? Just a suggestion!

1 pointSitting at Costco? perish the thought. There are many many things with batteries and cords to investigate in the store. In fact, I'm down to 20 flashlights, I may need to buy another three pack of CREE LED flashlights.

1 pointSomething involving an IDEA. Then about fighting for our rights. Then some Bob name came up. Apparently there is a Bob in ANJRPC "officers" list. Then something about how poor ANJRPC is really and then discover poor Bach is almost working for "free" to protect our rights. Hope I didnt miss any other "somethings".

1 pointThis info is for the ANJRPC Foundation my mistake ANJRPC Foundation received $47,500 in contributions. They sold $40,000 in goods but those items cost $63,500 so they lost -$23,500 on the sales. There was only $5k in salaries. Spent $2,000 on lawyers and $14,000 on other expenses leaving them with $1,200 excess for the year and $11,000 at the end of the year in the accounts. That was fiscal year ending 2015. Fiscal year ending 2011 there was $38,000 in the accounts. 2012, 2013, 2014 they lost money. Scott Bach is getting a piece of the Foundation but his much bigger piece of the pie is through ANJRPC INC. NJ2AS I can't even find any 990 filings for. Yet he keeps bragging about the lawsuits he wins. Where are his filings and where is the money going. They are a registered non profit and should have at a minimum a 990EZ filing. I think the members of this board can be more effective than either if we pool our funds and hire our own lawyers. The NRA has real money but don't seem to be interested in NJ. SAF is who we should be joining forces with, but not through NJ2AS, but possibly through this forum. Maybe it is just a pipe dream, but it seems better than anything else that has happened.
-
1 pointOnce again Follow the money - Look eveyone deserves to make aliving eveyone deserves to have a fair share of the proverbial pie - but if it is true - to walk around with a CCW and say - it is good for me but not thee - that is plain wrong. To sit by an allow and/or work not to try to stymie laws as it might impact your earnings is well - wrong but it is the nature of the beast . That is why as others have said - having those with a vested financial interest in the outcome of laws/negotiations etc. - that could potentially hurt them - is well - not to bright.

1 pointOkay, so I did a little reading about nitrogen in tires, which is much better than guessing. I have to admit, I do see a benefit. 1) air molecules are smaller and can escape the tire. it's like how a helium balloon stays inflated longer than an air filled balloon. 2) There is water vapor in air, most compressors do not have an air dryer. When atmospheric air heats up it will have a greater effect on tire pressure. Also, the moisture may corrode the rims. So there you have it. I'm still using plain old air. I check my tire pressure regularly and my rims are not of the $1,000.00 each variety.
-
1 pointYou mean this compliance work - 1) Shave off Bayo Lug - 10min 2) Drill Brake - 5 min 3) Thread brake on and time/pin - 5 min 4) Weld Over brake and clean - 10 min 5) Charging $ 125.00 or more for just labor - priceless Anti-CCW and he has one - douche. Of course they *ALL* want the status quo or the upheaval - follow the money. Where would Bach be if not for the strife in NJ and at the money he earns?
-
1 pointOxygen, even the 21% found in air, can react with the rubber to some extent; I'd think it would mostly go after the sulphur crosslinks formed in the vulcanization process. That said, I have no idea if there is actual data to show this causes meaningful degradation of the rubber over the life of the tire. I fill my tires with air, and don't worry about it further. Tires wear from the outside in a lot faster than they degrade from the inside out.

1 pointDrain may have no pipe to snake. Most were just drains set into the concrete to drain under slab. May have an abundance of floor crap built up in the slab bed. Careful what you wish for. I have seen drain water erode and settle the stone base leaving a giant air pocket under the slab that collapses with time.
-
1 pointYou are posting this gun here that was someone did for you and then abbidentical gun you are "selling for a friend"... What gives?
-
1 pointNew problem discovered when cutting the concrete - garage floor drain is blocked, and probably has been for years (as evidenced by severe corrosion of the drain grate and the visible upper portion of the pipe). Tried sticking some wire coat hanger down, feels like it hits something solid about one foot down. Should I go rent an electric snake/auger thing to try and clear it?

1 pointSavage Cerakote in old bridge, did 2 guns for me an redid a gun that was cerakoted by someone else around here, turnaround time was 3 Days!!!

1 pointNitrogen fill is a thing now? I always thought that was just a joke. Watching thread with interest - I have a Costco membership and need new tires.
-
1 pointThere must be some confusion here! Robert Viden Jr. is the owner of the gun shop, he is a FUDD, vehemently anti CCW, Though he has a carry permit). He is a pro Sweeney NRA official with ANJRPC. We never discussed Sr. and Jr., being elderly himself, I doubt Sr. is still living. I have done business with him personally and spent thousands of dollars in his shop. He is a nice enough guy but I now know the truth and would NEVER again give him or his shop one penny of my hard earned money! Even if his shop was the only one in Jersey!

1 pointI love my Beretta's, but I am just a faster and more accurate shot with my Glock's.
-
1 pointI'm a switch hitter. But seriously, I have a loaded Glock 17 G4 ready to go. The Wife, a Glock 19 G4. Also, Remy 870 7-shot synthetic. I'm a fan of Glock's, Beretta's, and Smith wheel guns.

1 pointCan someone remind me why there was the effort to go after Sweeney by NJ2AS? IIRC it was a stupid comment he made in regard to Carol Browne. However he actually tabled magazine limit and other Anti bills more than once. Yes Sweeney went full on Anti after Sandy Hook and I'm guessing that was because of his desire to be governor. However in hindsight it was not a very good idea to go after one one of the few Dems ever rated A by the NRA. I think NJ2AS needs to close the doors and we can help do that by refusing to send them any money. What have they ever really accomplished? I'm all for the Hail Mary ANJRPC is going to try with Sweeney as long as it does not include any compromise. We have already given up enough. Appeal to his sense of right and wrong and how he used to feel in regard to the Second Amendment. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk

1 pointTHIS is where my comment about high leo membership at some ranges comes in. one may think they're safe taking their so-called assault rifle to the private range they shoot at....till a leo member shows up to shoot, and sees it. chances are good they'll dime ya out in a hearbeat.

1 pointInteresting situation. We need to provide support for fighting for our rights and have to pay taxes which funds the fight to take away our rights.

1 pointEverything in nj is legal in Florida, just pack it all in your trunk and head down. I used my fid as my target in my first range session. Unless of course you think you will still be buying stuff in nj. I sold off all my neutered stuff, so I don't have much that is nj legal anymore. Don't forget to get your Florida concealed weapon permit, many locations can process it within an hour. My first purchase was a G43, the shop helped me pick out an iwb, set it all up, tucked and loaded and out of the door in less than an hour. (I may have left some drool on the displays and my wish list is quite large now)

One day if your lucky enough to have people remember you when you pass on a forum hopefully there wont be people like you who will talk smack and disrespect your memory.
