Darpa created the internet. That's why in the early days it was called arpanet. The reason we didn't need it before is that the internet is run on peering agreements. Rather than behaving like telco or wireless telco and charging additional fees for communication that involves networks other than your own, they decided to omit that and just agree that if you accept my network traffic at no charge, I'll accept yours. We do this as peer networks, and save everyone lots of billing hassles. The problem is broadband ISPs decided they wanted to court customers that primarily pull data in rather than send it out. Oddly, this happens when you mandate huge disparities between upload and download speeds. SO after creating their own problme they scream it is not fair and they can't afford it!!! And ain't shit gonna trickle down. Even under the current state of affairs, the margin on broad band is 97% for cable companies. NINTY-FRIKIN-SEVEN!!!!. That's after infrastructure, employees, customer acquisition and retention, etc. They need either price controls or de-regulation where we can have total service resellers and no government protected monopolies. Because right now they can charge what they want, and want to sell you service they don't deliver, all while having a state granted regional monopoly. Which is BULLSHIT.

I'm opting for turkey in the oven again, partly because I like stuffing in the bird, I like the crispy skin, I have a really good bourbon glaze recipe, and this year's turkey is on the large side for the smoker. I'll probably cook my first whole smoked turkey some non-holiday weekend, though I've got a turkey breast and some turkey drumsticks in the freezer, and I always like how they turn out smoked. Yesterday I scored a prime rib roast that I'm planning to smoke for Christmas, with a cherry glaze recipe I've had tucked away. Been looking for a prime rib roast for months--they're hard to find around here, other than immediately before Thanksgiving and Christmas.

I will be smoking a turkey for the first time on the PBC as our Thanksgiving dinner main course. Using the Alton Brown turkey brine prior to smoking over apple wood. Hope it turns out as good as chickens have in the past. I’ll start a new thread for that. Christmas dinner will be bbq brisket. Mmmmmmm!! Leftovers will be made into smoked brisket chili!

Indeed, it was, well actually it was built for fault tolerance and instant communication. The world wide web was built with rich content in mind. In 1993 "rich" was pretty lame. I remember the first time I fired up Mosaic. I also remember shortly thereafter going to Playboy.com. Of course at the time, the browsers had a bug where pictures would _NEVER_ completely download. They'd get slower and slower as it painted on the screen and eventually stop, right about the time you got to the hips

A large (enough) corporation is as much of a threat to personal freedoms and individual rights as a large corrupted Govt. If anyone want a proof, look no further than East India Tea Company. Once these Corporations took advantage of dished out monopolies, fraction-of-penny-over-dollar auctions from FCC, they have become bit*ch of People. If they want to turn around and cry "injustice", they better get ready to pay for the public land used for every trench dug, cable laid, tower erected and air-waves procured. Lets also not forget that these are same "communications" companies that enjoyed forced monopolies, made trillions of dollars before telcom deregulation. Interestingly, a "deregulation" takes another "regulation" to enforce. Even today, US Telcom companies are dragging their feet while sitting on "exclusive rights" to specific wireless spectrum. If they really want to compete in a true open market, then give up monopolies and compete.

You know what else is like Price controls? Price controls in the form of granted monopolies. These ISP’s are usually the only game in town with “broadband”. And now those same ISP’s want to influence the traffic to their own content instead of competitors.

Not comply, because compliance equals acceptance. Will gladly put money towards lawsuits handled by lawyers who have won. Will not give money if the same old players are involved with the same old stupid plans of showing up in Trenton and at people's houses. It doesn't work. Trying the same thing over and over but expecting a different result is the definition of insanity. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk

Then the question arises - what r you prepared to do? This coming winter/spring will either solidify the 2A Organizations in this state and elevate them, or be their death knell. Time will tell and I am.prepared to put my money where my mouth is. Ultimately and for many reasons beyond the 2A, this state has a coming bleak time....i pray to God - yes I mentioned Him - that I have the wherewithal, means and strength - to execute the plan.

You have it backwards. Net Netrality says that the ISP’s must treat all traffic equally. They can’t speed up data to one site (their own) and slow down others (Netflix). The ISP’s want that regulation repealed

This is where rubber meets the road. The problem with "change providers if you dont like" is, in most places, there are no second or third providers / competition. WHY ? the problem circles back to Govt (whether local or other) giving exclusive rights to select parties. This goes back to the grand debate on no govt vs limited vs all-powerful govt. As much as we like to complain about "Internet", alternative media was propelled primarily because of availability of Internet. We all complain when Google / YouTube removes monetization channels for 2A guys. Now imagine them being put on a dialup connection speed (remember those days ?) while the snowflake videos are streamed at speed ? What if the content / speed filters are tweaked dynamically ? Anti-Firearm channels from YouTube work at normal speed but 2A channels from same YouTube stream at dead slow ? Do we suggest we change providers to a non-existing one ? To further the point, how would we feel if all NRA sticker vehicles are routed to single lane while rest are routed to high-speed 10 lane highway ?

I'll hopefully be able to document this build as it progresses. About 2 years ago I picked up a Remington 700 SPS Tactical in .223. 16.5" barrel (9 twist if it matters). It was a really fun little rifle and I enjoyed the hell out of it. I wound up upgrading some parts here and there but just couldn't get it to shoot as well as I would have liked. So, I pulled the barrel, cuz that's what you're supposed to do, right?? I've since gathered other parts and have sold a few things to make that happen. Where we sit: R700 S/A .223 bf---all stock McMillan A3/5 fully adjustable PTG AI pattern stealth bottom metal with a 10 round mag Weaver picatinny rail Harris bipod Vortex Viper HS/T 6-24 VMR-1 Rock Creek AMU/MTU 1/7 that I'll finish at 24-26" and thread for a brake. Barrel should be here today or tomorrow (11/20-21/17) The plan: I have a friend that has helped me with every phase possible in learning machine/metal work, that he can from a distance. He's located in Michigan. Licensed GS. Builds rifles on the side and works in a medical machine shop as his day job. He's offered to have me head out to MI to build this rifle with me, every phase. From truing the action to cutting the threads and chamber. He's very good at what he does and meticulous as hell. To say that I'm honored and thrilled is an understatement especially given that no one in NJ is willing to help a guy learn. I'm heading out there in the middle of February as it's my slow time at work and I'll only need the one day off. So there it is. I'll grab some pics of the components shortly and the barrel when it arrives. For ammo, I'll be loading up Sierra TMK 77's for the time being and looking to stock up on Berger 80.5 Fullbore's in the future. This will be a paper plinker to 300 for most of it's time outside and hopefully to 750 on steel at least once a year. I'm currently in love with small caliber rifles. I'm hoping to learn to work on them at home as well and am currently tooling up for that. It's a very frustrating yet rewarding part of the hobby.

Not trying to sound like a dick, this is a legitamate question. Why do you guys like guns that are not accurate? Stuff like this if pretty much only good for shooting people within 10 feet and nothing else, except maybe wasting ammo. That's how I see it anyway, I'm could be wrong and if I am please enlighten me.

@USRifle30Cal If they reintroduce and pass the NJ SAFE Act bill, that M1 will be banned as well. Time for Fudds, Mall Ninjas, scattergunners, and everyone in between to unite. I just joined CNJFO, and I'm a life member of the NRA. I want to see the NRA-ILA and ANJRPC put in money for litigation by competent attorneys. I'll throw more in, but I need to see a plan first.

Hey fellas, my buddy here in The Socialist Republic of NJ just replaced the plastic furniture on his recently acquired Arsenal w/ a gorgeous Russian wood set he ordered from Combloc Customs. He said the owner, John Russell, was great to deal w/ & was very helpful, answering all his Q?s & helping him out along the way. He had to wait around (2) months for the set & when he finally got it, it was a whole day project, sanding the pieces & getting them to fit. I think it was worth It. I saw it & it was beautiful.

Ah, the "why isn't NJ2AS being invited" question arising again! I know Zeke and I have gently squabbled about this issue over text (LOL)... and I'll trust him to come on here and speak for himself (and any others) who disagree with my point of view. I know some on here admire Roubian's passionate, sometimes very effective, take no prisoners approach. Frankly, I don't know Roubian personally, but from what I've seen, hey...I like some of that too! For instance, I loved that video about the NJ pol who was indicted for stalking. I thought that was GREAT... and even shared it with a bunch of people! But, I've also CRINGED at his lack of self-discipline and "big picture" thinking... because it seems to result in as many or more publicity screw-ups than wins, including the times he turns his aggression on the WRONG people (other pro-2A types) in a very public way. Zeke and others might say, "well, they need to get over it and pull him in". But here's how I see it - I think the responsibility is with the person who lashed out first. This is all Psych 101 really. If Roubian really thinks the 2A cause is more important than his own ego... then he'll quietly reach out to the other groups, admit he could have handled things better, and offer his support on any joint actions. But, if he's a narcissist who's caught up in getting his own name and face in the press, he'll be unable to do that (regrettably). Imagine it this way: you own Small Business "A" in a very niche industry that's under pressure and in danger of disappearing. You work VERY hard to have a thriving small business. You cross paths with another small company, Small Business "B", all the time --- sometimes you even work on the same large projects together as subcontractors and you both have a shared interest in keeping your industry thriving. One day, you find out that Small Business "B"'s owner has trashed your business in the most petty way... and not privately either, but on social media (and suspiciously timed right before an industry conference, perhaps for maximum damage?), and in the press (in a way that damages your whole niche industry). Tell me, honestly... the next time you have an "all hands on deck" situation --- are you going to invite that guy to participate? Or, are you going to think to yourself: "The first time he doesn't like what we're doing, he'll be squawking to every reporter who'll listen...he's going to burn us - and our industry - again." As I see it, the problem is... Roubian has burned people... he's the "hot stove" that many of the other 2A types simply don't want to touch. I'm not sure I can blame them. Could I levy criticism elsewhere too? Of course! Do we need MORE aggression from these other 2A groups - yeah, we do. Hopefully they'll step up quickly and if they don't their leadership should be tossed and replaced. But that doesn't negate the criticism again Roubian. Put another way, I have limited funds - I can't afford to put them on a horse (no matter how talented) who's liable to start a fight in the middle of the track during the damn race.

My money is going to whomever presents the best plan to sue and win, and initiates the plan. Then, and only then, will they get my money. I have about 20 years of NRA dues not paid that I'd be willing donate but they have to actually do it, not just talk about doing it. Show me what ya got and I'll show you the money.

Thanks DirtyDigz!! As you all can see & read, Rosey has been a busy boy! And CNJFO can really use both members AND money for upcoming law suits! Yes, we've grown big enough to get involved with THAT, but we need YOUR HELP! Immediately after the Sunday ANJR&PC Executive Board Meeting mentioned in the story above, I went to Telco Sportsmen's Club next to the Atco Speedway to shoot 5-Stand with the former NJ2AS Communications Director (Theresa Inacker), whom is a recent widow, single parent and Facebook friend of mine. Those of you that are my or her Facebook friends can see the photos on our pages. She's almost ready to jump back into the Zoo that is Second Amendment work here in NJ. For those that aren't aware, Theresa is a lawyer at the Joint Base, and she is solely responsible for getting Emily Miller to Jersey for a Book Signing of "Emily Gets Her Gun"! I'm giving her the time she needs to grieve, but I do apply light arm-twisting. Theresa is also excited to read the good news in the article I wrote above, and is looking forward to working with CNJFO in the near future! So the cat's outta the bag, and now you folks know why I couldn't be at last Sunday's NJGF Shotgun & Pumpkin Shoot at Clinton WMA. I have to weigh who, what, where & when I make personal appearances since I'm "always working" for all of us. Here's where to join and learn more: http://www.cnjfo.com/join-us Rosey

OK, somebody make this post a sticky. It will save everyone the time and effort of posting photos of their Glocks. Open this image: Glock 17 That's a photo of a Glock 17, a standard size Glock. The other standard size Glocks (G20, G21, G22, etc) look exactly like that. Now move closer to your screen. See how the gun looks bigger? That's a competition model (G34, G35, G41). They all look the same. Move a little closer to the screen. You are now looking at a long slide (G17L, G24, G40) There is no need to look at photos of the individual models; they're the same damn thing. Now, from your normal viewing position, move a little further from the screen. See how the image got smaller? You are now looking at a compact model (G19, G23...). Finally, move back just a little more. You're now looking at the subcompact models (G26, G27, G29, G30...) That's it. The entire Glock pistol model matrix, in one photo. Mods--you may now close this thread.
