Ryan, If he insists on shipping to a NJ FFL, tell him to Pay the shipping and cover the NICs fee. It's only fair since he is going back on his offer and is unwilling to learn the laws!

We are so getting together this spring for a Smokefest! How about a weekend campout and Smokefest with some premium barley pops and BS sessions? This needs further discussions after the holidays!

It's not an unusual question. In fact it's in my wheelhouse. I'm too tired at 9:36pm on Christmas Eve & to answer in full. I'll write again tomorrow or Tuesday. Tonight's food coma & pile of dishes took too much outta me.

If your optic shatters but stays intact, how are you going to be able to see your back up irons? Quick detach is to take off a damaged optic preventing you from using your sights. Will it ever go down that way? Probably not. I'd rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.

@Mrs.Zeke @Mrs. Peel I haven't had a chance to get them yet. I've only been shooting a handful of times in the past 3 years since becoming a dad. My brother has glasses from Rudy Project and loves them, but he uses contacts. There is a dealer by me and I'll be checking out their products after Jan 1(my allowance for glasses kicks in) to see how much I'm going to be dropping on them. I can't stand the glasses I have for work, and they make my astigmatism worse.

Definitely legal under ATF rules. (b) It shall be unlawful for any licensed importer, licensed manufacturer, licensed dealer, or licensed collector to sell or deliver— (1) any firearm or ammunition to any individual who the licensee knows or has reasonable cause to believe is less than eighteen years of age, and, if the firearm or ammunition is other than a shotgun or rifle, or ammunition for a shotgun or rifle, to any individual who the licensee knows or has reasonable cause to believe is less than twenty-one years of age; (2) any firearm to any person in any State where the purchase or possession by such person of such firearm would be in violation of any State law or any published ordinance applicable at the place of sale, delivery or other disposition, unless the licensee knows or has reasonable cause to believe that the purchase or possession would not be in violation of such State law or such published ordinance; (3) any firearm to any person who the licensee knows or has reasonable cause to believe does not reside in (or if the person is a corporation or other business entity, does not maintain a place of business in) the State in which the licensee's place of business is located, except that this paragraph (A) shall not apply to the sale or delivery of any rifle or shotgun to a resident of a State other than a State in which the licensee's place of business is located if the transferee meets in person with the transferor to accomplish the transfer, and the sale, delivery, and receipt fully comply with the legal conditions of sale in both such States (and any licensed manufacturer, importer or dealer shall be presumed, for purposes of this subparagraph, in the absence of evidence to the contrary, to have had actual knowledge of the State laws and published ordinances of both States).

The Federal rule is a long as the sale meets the requirements of BOTH states the sale of long guns only can take place. This means rifles and shotguns. Sounds like he does not want to transfer directly to you. http://www.vsp.state.va.us/Firearms_VFTP.shtm#NonResIDReq Nonresidents - Identification and Residency Requirements Rifles and shotguns may be purchased from licensed firearms dealers by persons who are residents of other states upon the presentation of one photo-identification form issued by a governmental agency of the purchaser's state of residence and one other form of identification determined to be acceptable by the Department of Criminal Justice Services (6VAC20-130-10). The following secondary forms of ID are acceptable: A current lease. Evidence of currently paid personal property tax or real estate tax. A current utility or telephone bill. A current voter registration card. A current bank check. A current passport (must include an address). A current automobile registration. A current hunting or fishing license. Other identification allowed as evidence of residency by Part 178.124 of Title 27 of the Code of Federal Regulations and ATF Ruling 2001-5.

Check out the Bichon rescue of Northern NJ. They have a facebook page and frequently have dogs available. They are a bit picky in that they want to make sure the dog goes to a good home. They run in size from 7lb to big boys like ours. He's 25lbs and not fat. Vet says he's the proper weight. Fat ones can get over 30. Up until about 25 years ago, breeders would destroy big ones to keep the breed size down but they don't do that any longer and the breed size is going up. If you wanted to meet ours, you'd be welcome to come see him.

This is really good advice. In a nutshell you are trying to get more refund back of your 2017 by prepaying 2018 taxes. Those who pay more than $10k in property taxes and income taxes in 2018 will get “less” deduction in taxes (but still probably do better in 2018 anyway) this stratgy only works for 2017 if you choose to submit itemized deductions in 2017 versus standard deduction. AND you are not subject to AMT. I’ve said this before you really should examine your filing to see if you are AMT. I wish I knew what line number it is. But nevertheless you need like several thousand laying around to prepay these taxes to get that “savings”. But Howard is exactly right. Yiu are “earning”. 29% on that money you prepay Other great advice. Own ETFs instead of mutual funds (better cap gains taxes) and done own bonds in a taxable account. Only tax deferred accounts. (Bond inxome is taxes at your highest marginal bracket is robbery)

The problem is that the last person you want to take any firearms advice from is a cop with few exceptions. high exposure, I believe, is one of those exceptions. I've not seen a single instance where I'd disagree with view, opinion or assessment on an outright basis. Imho
