I can make pex look pretty neat. Gotta snap lines. And take your time. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

Removed the illegal links. We do not condone that sort of thing here. While yeah you can save $40 bucks on the software, do you really want to risk it vs getting infected or PII stolen? If turbotax is too expensive, look at H&R Block Taxcut.... I use it, myself.

Is it the new model Murphy1000? I hear with those once you put your guns in you can’t get them out.

I've seen some pretty amazing pex jobs. You would be surprised when a guy with OCD and plenty of time on his hands runs pex what it looks like.. I'm anal about my roughs looking perfect, regardless of what material I'm using. Here's one I found that an engineer did on his own house. I refused to service it lol... Legally according to the National Standard Plumbing code 2015 adopted by the state of NJ. They allow us to vent tubs and showers this way. But not sinks, unless we have to, because there is no other way. Island sinks are usually the only exception. Beyond that it's up to the Authority having jurisdiction. Which is the township inspector. So that means when I turn in my riser diagram with the plans for a permit, he has to approve it before we can pipe it that way. It's completely in his hands. But a sink against a walk he will want the drain in the walk. If it's an outside wall the water lines must come through the floor. That's the way it is statewide, with very little exception. If the walls are 2x6 construction we can put the water lines in the outside wall as close to the inside as possible. But I'm not a fan of doing that either. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

The old school way creates an S-Trap. That's illegal to do now. That type of trap looses it's prime. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

Remove the trap. And stick a shop vac hose over the drain. Let it blow warm air down the drain for about an hour. That's how I thaw frozen drains in people's houses. It works. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

I’m not quite sure why you’re defrosting pipes in your brand new home.

Old CRT Monitors were nothing to mess with - those capacitors held some serious power.

I will never forget my first monitor repair in 1998. I may have pooped in my pants a little bit.

Even if the floating zero issue has been resolved, you still have a badly designed battery box prone to rupturing batteries, shitty battery life when compared to other viable options out there, and a stupid auto shutoff feature that can’t be disabled. This all graciously provided by a company that purposefully hid known flaws in life saving equipment from users that depended on said equipment to keep themselves and others alive. No thanks.

fixed... kidding.. well kind of.. but I am at least curious as to why you would remove anything to clean the gun? I mean on the off chance I do clean my AR (which is VERY infrequent).. I am running a bore snake through it.. cleaning the bolt.. and hitting with some light lubricant.. the process takes next to no time.. and is not complicated in any way..

As GRIZ said, your relative has to take it to the FFL. You can't legally posses it yet so how can you go to an FFL by yourself to transfer a firearm to yourself that you can't yet have? I know what I would do if were in your situation but If you can find an FFL that will do the transfer, go for it! Even at the higher price. There is a risk on both sides!

I got mine last year for Xmas. Use it almost every week for an hour. I'll swap out the battery just because its been a year but its still going strong. YMMV

Don’t remove your optic to clean your gun. That’s unnecessary and just plain silly.

I agree 100% about CPVC. Toll started using it too along with T-Ply as well. Not sure if both still do but Toll was using both on $700k-$1M homes. Funny story. Ryan optioned lots in Marlboro from Meiterman; before his conviction. Inspectors saw T-Ply and CPVC and refused to allow it. However code did allow it. Inspectors told them how long it would take to schedule inspections and Ryan agreed to use plywood sheathing if they could use CPVC. Inspectors relented. The model house with finished basement was one of the CPVC pipes that I saw fail. 4' Crack right down the middle of the pipe. Finished basement ruined. Ryan ended up only selling 3 houses in 9 months. Meiterman threw them off the site and finished the job himself. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk

If I had to do it again, I would get the all black version. The side saddle would cover the beautiful finish and I like the look of the gun as is. GG&G makes a rail section that fits over the extension tube and under the cap. It too would look funny. She is gonna probably stay as is.

Great temporary solution. Not a permanent one. That heat trace tape burns down a lot of houses. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

Supplies can not be run in floor by code unless necessary. Only really necessary if there is an outside wall. If beam in way come through floor and break into wall under vanity in toe kick area. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk

Some plans call for a bathroom above an unheated garage. Personally I refuse to pipe it that way, unless the customer or builder signs a release that removes any liability from me when it freezes. Same with running baseboard heat into a soffit area, on an overhang or cantilever. I won't do it until I can't be held liable. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

Hair Dryer blowing into hose or pipe if you don't have large shop vac. I will also use heat guns blowing onto the pipe but be careful not to melt plastic pipe or start a fire. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk

Why? Plenty of proven platforms out there that aren't fugly.
  29. 1 point
It's not easier to defrost. I can't use a thaw machine on it, if it's plastic. It's harder to thaw. But less chance of a split. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

My last house was a 2 story 1910, my brother lives in NH in an early 1800's house (post & beam on granite foundation). For me, I put another layer of insulation in my attic (on the attic floor) and built a cover out of rigid insulation for the attic stairs. Basically a box that covered the pull down stairs opening. I had forced hot air and got a 30-40% increase in airflow just by sealing all the ducts in the basement. Also closed off some of the 2nd floor heat registers and ran the ceiling fan in the bedroom 365. My brother gets most of his heat from a wood burning stove, but as others said, you need to control the heat with fans. He put up a cheap set of french doors to close off the stairwell and uses those little triangular corner fans in various doorways to direct the heat.

Yeah it was original wavy glass. Storm windows on the inside........wow I don' know what to say about that.

This. Likely an easy repair. As has been stated before, PLEASE unplug it before you open it up!!!

I'd rather the whole gun as well, but I can't change that. No add ons for me. No side saddle, no rails, no extras. Wait, I need a light. Hello GG&G

I've made the mistake of not unplugging the microwave changing the fuse when it blew (old microwave). That did not feel good.
  35. 1 point
Wha........? That would be a first for me
  36. 1 point
If you are handy with a soldering iron you can probably fix it. The problem is likely a fuse or a diode that feeds the magnetron.. punch in the brand and model into youtube and you will probably find a DIY video. Be careful though, you are working with high voltage.

Thanks Medved. I prefer the pot coffee makers myself as well. Will check out your suggestions. I'm simple. "Chock Full Of Nuts" or "8 O'Clock" coffee is fine with me.

I'm 3hrs south of Myrtle Beach in the country. So I don't know how it is currently. Video poker places are gone, the bible thumpers took care of that. Full reciprocity NC/SC now. SC CWP is good in almost all "free states". In my travels north the only places I worry about are MD and of course PRNJ.

I do not disagree with any point you have raised.. but at the end of the day my personal experience with the performance of a product trumps all.. even if a company is really shitty to people.. but they provide me the best tool for me.. then that is the tool I am going to get.. I am obviously not jumping up and down getting behind them in the way they handled things.. OR pretending that they are some reputable group of people.. I am just saying the optic.. appears to work really well for me.. thats all.. lol

The link from Glock has been replaced with the 30th anniversary They already pulled the article and replaced it w/ the Glock 30th anniversary article. Recoil has some info on it for those still curious. http://www.recoilweb.com/news-of-glocks-19x-pistol-leaked-132572.html

Yes. It can only pass through the state. If it arrives here as permanent place of residence it must do so though an FFL. That way it gets logged in so Big Brother knows where it is.

A lot of people get wrapped around the axle about the dot not being crisp. So what? I see a bit of a smear myself in my RDSs - Aimpoints, Holosun, and RMRs. It doesn’t hamper my ability one bit. Secret of the universe # 2388: A dot that isn’t crisp doesn’t matter. First, turn down the brightness a click or two. It reduces the bloom and cleans up the dot. Then pick a portion of the ‘smear’ or comet or * or whatever you see, and use that as your aiming point. Zero to that point on the reticle. I pick the 12 o clock position of the top edge of the dot as my precise point of aim - consider it my “crosshairs”. If i need to be precise - I bisect what I want to hit with the top edge of my dot and I am good. If speed is more important than precision I can place the whole dot on my target. Doesn’t matter if I have a dot, a triangle, a smear, or a comet. Yes, if I had my druthers, I would choose a clear crisp aiming point in a reliable optic, but I know it isn’t necessary. I will choose a more reliable system with a dot that is less than perfect all day long.

Happy New Year! May the Senate pass National CCW Reciprocity early in 2018!

I know some people made fun of me in another post because I like to clean my hardware but the only reason why I wanted to remove my furniture was I did not have a rifle mount/stand at the time. Now that I have one it is much easier to clean and any mounted hardware doesn't get in the way.

Ummmm, hoping someone gets punished for an idiotic law just because you couldn't get away with it too? We're not in third grade any more. Hoping this woman gets jammed up with a felony conviction accomplishes absolutely nothing. How about we hope shen gets treated fairly because it's the right thing to do? This should be advertised everywhere CCW is a common everyday thing. Maybe that will help with national reciprocity, because NJ laws won't be changed from within. Make her the poster child for who carries outside NJ - you know, teachers, grandmothers, utility linemen, plumbers - everyday folks that aren't a threat to anyone except the "bad guys". There should be a map of the states where people have been jammed up in NJ, sending it to every rep from those states to support national reciprocity.
