I got back in and left a message for the Fudds! Fudd in red......Me in black.

Putting this in a separate thread so it doesn't get lost in the sauce. Sounds like there's a lot of former military on here.... fyi, there's an effort afoot to honor a JROTC student who was killed when he was helping others escape from the building during the 2/14 shooting. Just FYI, in case someone wants to participate. Far healthier IMO to honor the brave than to keep plastering the face of the shooter all over the place. There are PUSSIES & there are PATRIOTS on this thread! I count myself in the PATRIOTS column I've been doing this so long I don't even know what I have or where it is. Every-so-often it's like Christmas over here, lol!

When I first started shooting, I would regularly go through 1 to 2 bricks of .22s a session, on my own, mostly with a bolt action rifle, plus probably at least a box or two of 9mm. I'd typically go about every month to 1.5 months. Hours of shooting cost $35 (2 bricks of .22) plus a $10 lane rental for the day. When I was done, the ground around me was littered with more spent casings than all but the most outrageous Hollywood blockbusters. The place I shot had pieces of wood hanging on ropes, usually 9 pieces per lane, and I would shoot away chunks of them from the bottom up. I had to switch lanes at least once because I ran out of wood to shoot. I really miss reactive targets - shooting those wood chunks was hugely fun. I still spend the vast majority of my time on rimfires at outdoor ranges. While I still enjoy a good mag dump, I have slowed way down from my early days. My last range trip, I brought only two .22 bolt guns, went through about 200 rounds between the two, and was there about 2 1/2 hours. Other times, I might spend 4.5 hours on the range; 60% of my time on precision rimfires on the rifle range (likely 100-250 rounds), 10% on centerfire rifle on the rifle range (likely 20-80 rounds), 15% on plinking rimfire on the rimfire range (including .22 pistols) (likely 100+ rounds of the cheapest crap that will run), and 15% on centerfire pistols on the pistol range (likely 50-150 rounds). I'd say outdoor range, bare minimum for me is 2 hours, maximum of around 5 hours Clays - I almost always end up being late for NJGF outings, so I'm usually only there ~2 hours and 50-100 rounds downrange I've only shot indoors once, for an hour, and dunno if I'd really care to go back- there was an overwhelming feeling of having to rush. I'd rather spend the money on ammo since I already have a year membership at my outdoor range, and don't feel like I have to rush the entire time.

@Smokin .50 spent more time writing that post than I do at a range in a year. Lol.

Now, we’re going to make cornbread. I’m making 2 batches, one cheese and one honey. Not doing anything earth shattering here, using 2 boxes of Jiffy corn muffin mix per batch. Heat your oven up to 400*, and put your cast iron skillet(s) in for at least an hour. Getting that skillet nice and hot will ensure you get a nice crust on the bottom of your cornbread. Mix it up per directions. I’m adding 3 tablespoons of honey to one batch, and about 1 cup of shredded Mexican blend cheese to the other. Let them sit for about 5-10 mins in the bowl. Grease up your skillet with Crisco (that’s what my momma always used), pour in the batter, and pop it in the oven for 25-30 mins. They are done when a toothpick in the middle comes out clean. The cornbread should fall out of the skillet without any fuss, if you did your job right. Look at that crust in the last pic. Perfect. The honey cornbread is on the left, cheese cornbread is on the right. I’m gonna have to sample a bit of both before guests get here.....don’t tell Mrs Tex....

This week I applied for permits to purchase through the NJSP, and was advised that now the Firearms Unit in Trenton is issuing permits with the extension already approved. So the original permit is good for 180 days from the issue date. That was confirmed by my FFL who just received permits themselves. Anyone who must apply through the NJSP should receive the same treatment. I have not seen this mentioned anywhere so I thought I'd post it.

That is incorrect. It is on Federal land BUT you must follow the state laws in which the land is in.

You can do all the remembering you want. But if the don’t get off their lazy asses and actually vote then all the memories in the world won’t help. I hear people bitching about Gov. Beaver Face more and more. But the fact still remains he’s in because of poor turnout at the polls.

I got screwed during Florio's ban years ago. Citizen one day felon the next. So certain items are permanent residents of a free state. Likely to get a few new cousins in the near future.

There have been several large studies done - by DOJ, large universities, criminal justice think tanks - all showing very high percentages of crime specifically by ex-felons, literally 80-90% range - NOT including those with a list of misdemeanors mind you... if you lump those in, you're much closer to 95% of serious violent crimes committed. Those studies aren't conducted or published as widely as they should be. They show the real picture of crime in this country. Crimes like this school shooting - as horrific as it is - are the OPPOSITE of "the norm". But, I know I'm preaching to the choir!

372 killed in the PRNJ in 2016. 272 were killed with guns. ONE was killed with a rifle! Do the dumbasses concentrate on lowering the 272, no, they go after that big 1 killing with a rifle!

The problem is, all of my 15/30 round mags were permanently blocked by a glued or welded floor plate. If I were to try to disassemble them, I would destroy them! If they are going to ban 15 round mags, might as well take a trip over the bridge and load up on 30s and disassemble them before returning to the PRNJ. As I see it, constructive intent applies to the weapon and not to the magazines. If the Feds get stupid one day and ban the manufacture and sale of 30 round magazines but grandfather what you had pre-ban, at least you have some!

MSM is obsessed with guns. It is not rational. Where is the outrage over automobile accidents. On average 100 people die everyday from automobile accidents. That include around 3 children. Everyday. Where are the calls to stop the carnage, restricting who can drive, where people can drive (like a car free school zone within say 1000 feet of any school), electronic id locks on cars so only the registered owner can drive the car, restrictions on the weight of the cars, the size of the cars. If only one child can be saved wouldn't it be worth it?

Awesome!! The 3-2-1 method is, IMHO, the best rib method around. Glad you’re getting a handle on the smoker and enjoying the results! Now, you’ll have to start a cooking thread and show us how you do it!

Could probably get NR if it’s still combined with FixNICS. With all the information we are learning from last week FN should get more priority (with edits maybe). Keep NR and FN combined and let the Democrats vote it down. That should play well in November, “voted down bill that would have prevented another FL”.

I'm no expert on spud guns but last I knew ATF did not consider them destructive devices unless they were being used as a weapon. Used receationally ATF had no problem with them. I believe ATF also considered them DDs if they shot an incendiary projectile. I knew some guys in Pennsylvania who used to get together with some pretty elaborate spud guns. Some of these packed a bit of punch and could inflict injury if used as a weapon. State laws vary a great deal on these.

Ryan, It appears my post may have killed that thread! I got some likes, including from you! I am hoping that what I posted may wake up a couple of the Fudds there. They truly are fools if they think the PRNJ will stop at black guns! Ask the average American the reason the 2nd Amendment was written and they will tell you "we have the right to keep and bear arms for self defense, hunting, target practice and competition. Such a shame that most gun owners do not understand the responsibility that comes with gun ownership! Nor the true reason the 2nd Amendment was written!

oh! lol i get it, sorry anyways fellas, the ringing seems to have gone down very slightly, i'm a week and a half in. maybe even the dullness has gotten slightly better too. The first few days I was stupidly testing music at different volumes in my car to see how much it takes to irritate it - not doing that anymore seems to have made a little bit of a difference. Plus im taking lipo-flavinoid and ginkgo baloba. Also I had a bit of a cough when this first happened and I think coughing makes the ringing louder. I just want the sensitivity to go away! hearing myself talk at a certain volume or if someone is talking too loud makes it buzz in that ear. Not painful just annoying. i guess that will go away as it heals - i think it's gotten a little less sensitive in the last few days sucks, I just picked up a P99 and I'm about to grab a Stag Retro 15 on sale but I won't be going to the range for a few months

You want protection that has the highest NRR (Noise Reduction Rating). I use these foam plugs that have a NRR of 33: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B0033YLEGO/ Together with this Earmuff with a NRR of 30: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B007BGSI5U As Zeke said crank up the volume so you hear more regular sounds using both.

We can all HOPE, but the realist in me knows that each CLEO runs his/her department the way THEY want to, and the local CLEO's run from almost completely "anti-gun" to downright helpful! My local Chief didn't consider it an inconvenience making my 18 yr old Eagle Scout son, who's lived under my roof his entire life, has NO record, etc., etc. WAIT 6 MONTHS for JUST a yellow card so he could buy/transport long guns! That was a decade ago, and the same CLEO is still there! Meanwhile, IN FREE AMERIKKA, my son prints-out a 1-page form, takes the form & his PA DL over to the Berk Co. Sheriff's Office and VIOLA!, 5 minutes later he gets his PA LTCF (License to Carry Firearms)! It took longer for the laminator to heat-up than it did for the NICS check to come back clean! So yeah, we take the efforts good guys give us & we still FIGHT FOR OUR TRUE RIGHTS! Rosey, VP CNJFO http://www.cnjfo.com
