Do you have a pressure reducing valve on the main at the meter? (60psi is normal for municipal supply residential water service. Pressure will vary at different times of the day due to demand. 80psi is max allowed in any plumbing system in NJ, residential or commercial.) Is there a thermal expansion tank on the cold side of the water heater? If not, you need one. If there is, it probably has a ruptured bladder and needs to be replaced because it's now waterlogged. Shut off the main, relieve all the pressure from the system, and check the air charge on the tank, with a tire pressure gauge. It should be set to your static pressure, which in this case is 60psi. If it's not either add or remove air till it's at 60lbs. Then turn the water back on to the house. Problem solved, where do I send the invoice? You're welcome... lol Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

@almiz111 Keep an eye out for the next shotgun shootout at the Clinton WMA. We shoot all kinds of stuff there, including the type of shotty you have and other non trap/skeet guns like the Mossberg Shockwave. I'll say this though, I doubt you will be pleased with the performance of your shotty in it's current configuration. If you want to try it just for the sake of trying it, that is your prerogative. It can be useful to push a gun beyond it's practical limits to find out what it can't do. If your shotty is a Remington 870 or a Mossy 500 series, you may want to think about buying a longer (28"- 32")threaded barrel and a used set of furniture for those special non HD occasions. With all the kids tacticoolizing their grampy's shotguns, used stuff can be found at a pretty good price. We can talk more about this at the Trenton rally..... You are going, right?

What is the elevation like where you are, is there a water tank that feeds you that is up a good bit higher in elevation than your house? I ask as we have a pressure regulator on the incoming line and if were to go bad I would expect to see the sort of thing you are seeing. Even your low static pressure seems to be very high for residential water service. Suggest you PM Deerslayer, he is an expert on this stuff.

Me and @Cemeterys Gun Blob where at the one in Jersey City in 2011? I had a broken, single shot 20 gauge and a 12 gauge side by side that had a broken hammer. I got 300 bucks for two guns worth maybe 100 bucks. That money funded other guns.

Costco used to be associated with AMEX some time back and then switched to Citi. Costco sells safes and ammo cans. I wonder if they're willing to lose Costco as a client. Regards, TokenEntry

This crap is gonna grow and grow until it’s forced to the Supreme Court. And I agree “you’d be surprised” dumber has happened. They can’t deny a purchase that is a legal one. They can’t wake up one morning and say no card sales to anyone under 50 because there’s too many DWIs. It’s not there Call or legal right. This crap will come to a legal head.

30,000 gun related deaths per year, or 0.0009% of the population. • 65% of those deaths are by suicide, which would never be prevented by gun laws. • 15% are by law enforcement in the line of duty and justified. • 17% are through criminal activity, gang and drug related or mentally ill persons – better known as gun violence. • 3% are accidental discharge deaths. So technically, "gun violence" is not 30,000 annually, but drops to 5,100. ——————- 710,000 people die per year from heart disease. 200,000+ people die each year from preventable medical errors. 40,000+ die from a drug overdose 36,000 people die per year from the flu 34,000 people die per year in traffic fatalities 5,100 people die per year due to gun violence —————-

I want to bring a little fun back to forums. So bear with me. You are king of an island. About the size of Puerto Rico, hilly, not too rugged with heavy forest on south and east edges about 5 miles inland, but mostly grass lands in interior. Temperate climate. One major airport, two ports, 4 large cities (>50k citizens) rest are farm to market hamlets. Total pop 275k. You have a Island Defense Force of 5000 soldiers. You have sufficiently supplied them with personal items, uniforms, boots, backs etc etc. Now you need to arm them. Using MSRP prices minus 25% for contract purchase (you might need a new master of coin) and a budget of 10mil. Arm them all. You can say 2000 per soldier... or 1000 on 500 and remainder on 4500... however you want to do it, but each soldier must have one sidearm and one long gun. oh... and a sharp tool. Ammo is not counted yet... that might be another question for later. Discuss Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk

I heart @DeerSlayer jus talked to my guy. Granted most our stuff is hydronic radiant, and on demand. Lol, other then my house and some small Reno jobs we never come across stand alone water heaters. On demand no need bladder ( yes I know what an expansion tank is) . Love me some learning!

Ok so at this point it looks like: I'm installing a pressure tank (ST12, unless you say otherwise.) Having the water peeps come out and replace the pressure valve, for safety's sake install a bib connection to plug in the pressure gauge I have, just to make keeping an eye on things easier. I just have to cut in to the cold line and T off of it. Wish I'd known about that a couple weeks ago, when I had to do exactly that to replace the idiot vampire tap on the hot side for the house humidifier. I would have done the cold side as well since I had the water shut off.

Is all good man. Thanks! chart says 80gal and 60psi needs a 3.2gal tank at 150F max water temp. I'm 75gal on my water tank and 110F water temp. ST8 is 3.2gal and ST12 is 4.4gal. It's only $6 more so if it makes any sense to go bigger, I can.

The regulator won't allow water pressure increases to push back to the street. It's like a check valve. So the pressure inside the system increases as a result, and you have issues like relief valves blowing off, or surging coming out of a faucet. With the tank it's like a big cushion for the now heated & expanding water to push into, keeping the static pressure the same in the system. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk 2015 code change made it mandatory. The 2009 code was still in effect in 2013 wasn't adopted in that version. Get them M4s and Glock 19s. Everyone doesn't need both. Plenty of change left over in your stated budget that could be used for other things.

see red answers. Question is... why am I seeing this problem NOW? As some additional data, the adjuster screw on the pressure regulator turned easily enough, and I was able to back the static pressure down to 50psi after a system "burp"... but as it's been sitting like that for about 10 minutes it's starting to climb and is now over 60psi, without the water heater coming on. I called NJ American Water and they're sending a tech out on wednesday to check things. I mentioned the meter being changed but not the pressure regulator.

Hard to say what options are available without knowing what rifle you are referring to. Is this a bolt action or SA rifle? One option I may suggest is if the rifle has a 1913 picatinny rail you can purchase a quick detach scope mount to adjust for eye relief and such. I don't think there is anyway around the issue without throwing money at it. Regards, TokenEntry

I dunno how the Mrs. feels about rimfires. I seem to be in the minority here when it comes to loving precision rimfires. If my budget allowed, there would be at least an Anschutz 64 sitting in my safe now, but alas, my budget is more Marlin on sale than Anschutz. That said, a decent Marlin or Savage or CZ .22, decked out with decent glass and a few small upgrades are fun little guns and get you into 100+ yard shooting starting under $500. I run Lapua Center-X, which is expensive stuff ($13/50) *when compared to .22s* but not when compared to centerfire (Federal gold medal match .223 69gr $~21/20 last i got em). Maybe not for everyone, but I have as much fun with rimfires as I do anything else, and I can afford to shoot a lot more. And it could actually be her gun. Just a thought.

Just get a Ruger Precision, slap a scope on it, and see what happens. Or, get two Ruger Predators and you each have one, probably cheaper! Predator vs RPR testing starts soon, both 6.5CM. I'll let you know. Or just get two Thompson Center Compass by 4/30 with a $75 rebate. Supposed to be under 1 MOA guaranteed. Not bad places to start. https://www.smithandwessonrebates.com/#/home

It states air and watertight seal, not designed to be submirged. I like the ziplock bags idea for linens and clothes. I have metal, fabric, and paper items that are too delicate to vacuum seal though.

You'll have to try it and see. If it doesn't work out, you've justified buying another rifle! I agree, stock fit and eye relief are likely to be the biggest concerns. The closer the two of you are to being the same size, the more likely it will work. There will almost certainly be differences in point of impact between any two shooters, just because of the ergonomic differences that will always exist, but that may or may not be noticeable to you.

You know, I am going to run out and buy a dozen crappy $50 shit single shot shotguns and turn them in for $130 a piece and get my own tax money back from NJ. If they are going to do stupid stuff with my money, they deserve to be scammed. Sad part is the end of the day, NJ will be so deep in the red we will never get out from under the crushing debt NJ has. I personally know at least 6 families looking to get out of NJ in the next year or two and they aren’t gun people, the taxes are just killing them. I am stuck behind enemy lines for another few years though... -Jim

That's not the point. The point is that Dick's, a place that generates some of their revenue from gun/ammo sales, has absolutely no fear of speaking out against the gun community. They have no fear of retribution from us; none whatsoever. By not making them pay a price for their actions, we became paper tigers. It's our own fault, really, even here, on this forum, everytime there was some pushback against Dick's, it was met with "but a deal is deal, and I don't care" So here we are. We need to start "punching twice as hard" to paraphrase a notable constitutional scholar. /rant.

If they are, how can you tell? Do they present a danger to you? What are the tell tale signs that they are? I mean it's not like they're wearing an armband or something. This informative article will give you five ways to recognize a gun nut when you meet, socialize or work with one. And finally it suggests what exactly you should do about it. I found it quite refreshing.

The Facebook invite has 1500 "going or interested in attending". The NRA is publicizing the rally and organizing buses for rides to Trenton. Hopefully at least several thousand if not more. 10k I think would be a very good turn out. 100k is pie in the sky dreaming for NJ.

I was there in 1990. The whole street in front of the state house was cordoned-off and the speaker's platform was in the middle of the street. The whole street was filled with people. I was there in 2013. I remember all the snow and yuck. We still overflowed the courtyard in front of the state house. I look forward to being there on Monday.

Couldn't agree more. Shooting is what improves your skills. Not gadgets. As far as all this customization stuff. (and HE I think you'll agree) You better be able to shoot with competency anything you pick up off the ground and wipe the blood off of.
