Wow....... just wow...... Thread locked..... I cannot even comment on the juvenile banter....

If I knew those morons were going to be there I would have cleared my schedule for the day. Unfortunately I had a guy call out and I needed to get to work to pick up the slack, but to counter them I would have cancelled the jobs. Now I am really pissed. Call I rescheduled this morning I just pulled up and there is an #Enough Brady Campaign Sign. This clown is getting the extra special rate.

Thanks to all that showed up. I will be quiet about those who chose not to. Great speakers, great organizations, great patriots.

I'm sorry I missed you. I grabbed one of the red NRA signs. I propped it on the steps where I was seated... frozen in place like a human popsicle, lol. Oh, damn, it was C-O-L-D. (Thanks btw to @Smokin .50 who passed me a pair of those chemical hand warmers - that helped). So, let's talk turkey. As others have mentioned, can we try this again in warm weather? On a Saturday? With 4 mos notice... and lots of advance communications/press coordination? I'd like to see 10,000 in attendance... and I'm quite confident it could be done. Hell, I'd even volunteer my time to help with that. I'm sure many of us would. There's categories of speakers or at least participants I'd like to see more of: 1) more young faces (scouts, jr rifle league members), 2) a national/Olympic shooting champion or 2, 3) speakers with their own horror story of government overreach (Shaneen Allen, etc.), 4) some people with DGU stories, 4) an NRA headliner speaker - Dana Loesch? Colin Noir?.etc. Can we brainstorm any signs/t-shirts well in advance, pre-print them, deliver them in advance? Maybe even have lawn stakes that people can pick up afterwards to get a second life from the same sign by displaying it in their yard? I could go on... and on... an on. I'm TOTALLY glad to see what happened today... to see the people who showed up... and stood up for individual freedoms. Because that's really what it's all about. That said, I walked away convinced that we have to think MUCH, MUCH bigger. If nothing else, while the 2A org's hopefully let the injunctions and lawsuits fly, each of us can do 2 things: 1) recruit more people into the shooting sports (just "bring a guest" - how hard it that?), and 2) help make sure the abuse and over reach we're seeing from Murphy's administration is burned into the consciousness of every voter we meet. We have 3+ years to get that done. IMO, the time to plan the summer rally is RIGHT NOW. That's how I see it.

Going to NJ.com for gun law information is like asking Zeke for grammar lessons.

I think just about everyone there realized the vote was a fore gone conclusion. But our numbers were heard and hopefully some speakers were heard by the crowd when it comes to how important voting is and these scumbags need to be voted out. We can't go down quietly.

Part of the reason I brought the cameras (and ultrawides/fisheye), because I knew there would be some bullshit in the news.

Reality is we needed 10x the amount of people that showed up to even make them think twice about their voting habits. My rough estimate is about 1200 - 1400 people showed up. Not nearly enough... We need to do better. We need to do especially better at the voting booth. We have the numbers but we can’t get them all rowing the the same direction. I am almost as frustrated with gun owners in NJ as I am with the politicians -Jim

Senate, governors pen, then open your wallets to the groups that will sue. And for wittle baby jeebus sake! Get everyone you know to vote! And vote every time!
  13. 3 points
That IS a shame! I think the national organizations like the NRA need to realize that it's the states like NJ, NY and CA where the battles MUST be waged. If something passes here unchallenged, it makes it easier for anti-gun types in OTHER states to use that legislation as a "model". It creates a weak link in the chain as far as I'm concerned. You have to go after the worst offenders, and pound them into the ground via the courts. That's how I see it. The rally was good, but my partner in crime, @Gunsrlegal and I (along with several others) were saying it's be great to see a similar event, but on a Saturday in good weather - and hell, get 10,000 there! Make sure you writer a Letter to the Editor of several newspapers pointing that out! I mean, bias in newspapers... well I expect it to be that blatant... but you'd think they might try to temper the obvious bias in a state building! I wonder if there's some kind of complaint process? I would definitely try to kick up a stink about that. That's infuriating!

To follow along with Dirty Digz notes (and so you don't have to search)... here's an (edited) list of the bills from ANJRPC's website. A2761 (Magazine Ban / Gun Ban)- Turns one million law-abiding gun owners into criminals with the stroke of a pen - no grandfathering, no option to render pre-owned magazines "compliant." A1217 (No-Notice Suspension of Gun Rights)- Allows secret suspension of Second Amendment rights and firearms seizures with no advance notice or opportunity to be heard. Turns due process on its head. A1181 (Allows Suspension of Gun Rights by Unaccountable "Health Professionals")- Allows marriage counselors, social workers, nurses, and others to cause suspension of gun rights, and firearms seizure and forfeiture without compensation, if they think someone poses risk. A2758 (Kills Self-Defense)- Cements NJ's unconstitutional "justifiable need" carry permit standard into statute to prevent most law-abiding citizens from ever exercising the right to self-defense with a firearm outside the home. A2759 (Bans Ammunition That is Already Banned)- Bans the SS190AP (armor piercing) military round, which is already banned under federal law (18 U.S.C. 922(a)(7) and (8)) and is not available to civilians. A2757 (Background Checks on Sales That Already Require Background Checks)- Eliminates private sales of firearms, which (unlike most other states) already require state-mandated paperwork and either an FID card or pistol purchase permit -both of which require an extensive background check prior to issuance.

Well I missed the train due to lack of parking in Princeton Junction, but we drove in. Wasn't as bad as I thought driving, and turnout was over 1,000 so overall worth it. Next time one needs to be on weekend. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk

How nice for you. However, if you are not going to jump in this thread to say something nice and encouraging, but instead of intimating we are all morons for wasting our time for something we believe in, just go away, m'kay. thanks. We still believe in something you obviously don't so please stop wasting our time by trying to sap our moral. In the military, you would be ripe for a blanket party.

I always hear complaints from gun owners about proposed anti-gun bills in Trenton but most of these people do nothing.. IMO, we do have a chance to modify the most draconian proposed laws that will be voted on soon. IF YOU CARE get off of your butt and down to Trenton NJ for the meeting by the war memorial next Monday morning beginning at 9AM. We need to send a message that our constitutional rights shall not be violated. The march should draw 1000's and many patriotic groups will be there. Join in or be prepared to lose whatever rights you have left.

NJ.com was quick to post a new article on today's votes.. http://www.nj.com/politics/index.ssf/2018/03/hundreds_rally_against_nj_gun_control_bills_in_tre.html#incart_river_index Here's a list of what's reported as passed from the article: * A1217, which would create restraining orders in the state allowing family members and others to ask a judge to have a person's guns seized and ban them from buying weapons for up to a year. It passed 59-13, with 4 abstentions. * A1181, which would mandate law enforcement in the state to seize a person's guns if a mental health professional determines they pose a threat to themselves or others. It passed 62-7, with 7 abstentions. * A2758, which would strictly define that state residents need to show a "justifiable need" to obtain a permit to carry a handgun -- meaning they must show they face a specific threat to their own safety. Christie tried to loosen the standard in 2016, but Murphy moved to reverse the move. This bill codifies the standard. It passed 48-26, with 2 abstentions. * A2757, which would require all private gun sales in the state to go through a licensed dealer who can perform an additional background check at the point of sale. It passed 61-9, with 5 abstentions. * A2759, which would create an outright ban in the state on possessing armor-piercing bullets. It passed 75-0, with 1 abstention. * A2761, which would ban magazines in the state that hold more than 10 rounds, with some exceptions. It passed 48-25, with 3 abstentions.

Bullcrap. PTSD is specifically not considered a reason to deny a carry permit, let alone an FID. I work at the VA in NJ. I have several briefs and articles on cases where this exact issue went to court and the citizen won. When I get to work I'll post

I just spent a week doing Critical Incident Response/CQB training with Northern Red. All of their instructors are former CAG. They all shot 5.56 carbines while overseas and did not see the need for anything bigger for their roles (these guys were assaulters, and that’s the mission set they refer to. Sniper/long range type stuff is a different ballgame - the mission drives the gear train). They were all very happy with the effectiveness of the 5.56 round and the AR platform as a whole. If I remember right they said they used the Barnes 62 or 77 grain TSX projectiles and killed more bad guys than cancer with them.

I see you got your beer muscles on and want to play keyboard commando. Didn't I offer you an invite to come down to Monmouth Arms, sit down across from each other, and you declined? Yet you are going to storm the statehouse tonight? My suggestion is to sleep it off. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk

Sometimes you have to stand up and fight, even if you think you may lose. There is no honor in running away with your tail between your legs. At least if you take a stand, and lose, you will have lost with honor.

You just don't get it. We are trying to show our support for what we believe in. And it isn't only the policians we are talking to, it's the voting public.

I agree with @Ray Ray! I froze my ass off at times! But I don't mind as it was a great experience! If today taught me anything, we may be outnumbered, but we are definitely not alone in our fight!

To privately sell - a Certificate of Eligibility (printed off line) filled out by both you and the seller. To buy - the same plus the buyer should have an FID card. This paper work is for your own records and is not filed anywhere but with you and the buyer. Or not. Whatcha selling?

I say 1-2000 may show up. No way 10k show up unless they are bused in from other states. There is simply no place to park for 10K to be in Trenton, let along 100K. I took off to attend. This day is too important not to miss.

I have spoken several times with Senator Connors over the past several years concerning our 2A rights. He is in our corner. That is who sent the letter I posted. I have lived in Lacey for 42 years now.
