TBH, I'd pay 3k for a NJ Carry permit if it was unrestricted and i wouldn't be regularly harrassed.. If it was a one time, lifetime thing..

There is a common misconception that the Mums were ground off by the Japanese soldiers, this is generally not true. Most of the Mums were ground off by US soldiers after they were turned in as part of an agreement between McArthur & the Japanese govt. That being said there were some that have a very thin line through them - those were possibly done with a bayonet by the soldier prior to surrender. The pecking order (as least for me) would be as follows: Battlefield P/U - Mum intact, no import marks, possibly some very dark stains, almost black (Possibly blood) Good condition, only light defacement with partial mum intact Defaced mum Things to look for are intact sights, especially Aircraft sights (They are usually broken), intact dust covers (They were usually removed because they rattled, intact mono-pod (Type 99). If you find a numbers matching rifle with Dust cover, mono-pod & sights intact and the Mum not defaced, you got a winner! Everything else it subjective - what you like (maybe you want a beat up, battle worn example) I personally like the type 99 rifle, but there are other modles to consider Here is a good read on the Type 99: http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2015/10/16/a-brief-history-of-the-japanese-type-99/ Good luck in the search & have fun!

Had an interesting day.....with a couple of good lessons resulting for ALL of us to keep in mind. I was cutting the grass this afternoon, and saw a big plume of smoke coming from my neighbors house. I grabbed my fire extingusher, ran across the street while calling 911. The fire was on the side of the house, was not sure what started it, but I was able to put it out before the FD arrived on scene. Another neighbor showed up with his garden hose and soaked it down pretty good, reducing the chance for a reflash, while awaiting the FD. The fire caught the siding on the outside of the house, and a curtain on the inside of the house on fire, causing limited damage to one of the bedrooms inside. Damage to siding, wall, and framework outside. All of the fire was contained before the FD arrived. Once they got here, we got out of the way and let them sort the rest of it out. It was determined that one of my neighbors has thrown a lit cigarette butt into a trash can that was against the house. The fire chief told me that 2 more minutes, and my neighbors would have had a VERY bad day, instead of a pretty crappy one. We got it under control before it became an extremely ugly situation. I’m not telling you this story to pat myself on the back, I’m telling you because there are some good lessons learned here, and I don’t want this kind of crap happening to my ‘online family’ members. Please pay attention. The lessons here are 4 fold. 1) The most obvious....don’t be stupid and throw lit cigarette butts into a trash can. This is just moronic. Don’t do that. 2). Have an ABC fire extingusher...for EVERY floor of your house. LEARN how to use them. Most FD’s I am aware of will teach you how to use them properly!! Check the damn things annually, because they DO expire. Replace them when they are expired or if they don’t indicate a full charge. If you don’t have at least one in your house ( the fire ‘victims’ AND a few of my surrounding neighbors, do not have ANY), you are an idiot. No excuse for this, IMHO. The damn things are cheap enough and are widely available. 3). When someone screams LOUDLY that your house is on fire, GET OUT OF THE HOUSE!!! Don’t stand on your porch with a stupid look on your face. Don’t run back in the house to get your bloody phone. GET CLEAR if you are not going to engage the fire with an extinguisher. 4) Most important lesson. When seconds count, help is minutes away. I am NOT knocking the FD, PD, or EMS, they can’t be everywhere at once...in any emergency, it takes time for them to respond. It took them about 9 minutes to get a fire truck on scene, and they are about 4 blocks away. Again, not knocking ANY of the first responders, I am just making the point it takes time to respond. Be prepared!! I am a bit cheesed off with the 911 operator, who was more concerned about getting my name, addess, and phone number before she dispatched the FD. Get the first responders on the way first, then worry about my damn name, and contact information.

Might I add that dry chemical extinguishers may read okay for pressure but you should turn them upside down and tap the bottom with a rubber mallet or the heel of a shoe to ensure the powder is not caked in the bottom. you will feel the difference when you shake the extinguisher. At least once a year if not twice. Great job DT!

Wow thanks a lot everyone! That's what I love about our community, everyone is always willing to help one another out. Revolver shootout!? Maybe at EFGA? That sounds like a good idea to me. I know not everyone is close to Easton but maybe we can work something out? I have a guest pass and I'm sure you guys do too so we could definitely bring in everyone. Seriously, who'd be down for one on a Saturday or Sunday morning in the next few weeks?

This is NJ. The $3000 permit would be annual, you would have to re-qualify quarterly ($750 per, in High Point for south Jersey residents, in Cape May for north Jersey residents), you would need to pass weekly NICS ($25 per) and weekly visit to NJ's doctors to verify your mental health ($400 per), you wouldn't be allowed to carry on days that end in "y", police would be required to do a full vehicle search during any traffic stop of a NJCCW holder, and accidentally exposing your carry piece, let alone actually drawing it, would be a felony with minimum 7 year jail time. Using it under any circumstances would be murder, with 50 to life with no parole, plus the extra 7+ years. That is what NJ carry would be like if our 'lovely' state were dragged - kicking and screaming - into issuing carry permits.

Funny you say that, the new house has frames to hold window boxes. I was planning on planting just flowers but now I'll make an herb planter out the kitchen window. Thanks!

Window boxes make excellent (and attractive) herb gardens too. Noting like reaching out the kitchen window for some fresh basil.

When did it become OK in society to wear ripped jeans or ripped leggings or a t-shirt to a wake? Have I suddenly - at 35 - become an 'old' person? I went to a wake for a friend on Wednesday, and the things some people showed up in made me disappointed. I felt underdressed in dress pants and a dress shirt, instead of a full suit, but apparently some people felt it was appropriate to wear what might be appropriate to shop at Walmart to his wake. Not just jeans, but ripped jeans. Not just leggings/yoga pants, but ripped ones. Not just Tshirts, but some were stained/rumpled, like they were taken right off the laundry pile. I know *he* can't complain, but really? Show some respect for the guy when you come to pay your respects...

Most likely carry permits. I work with a lot of guys from NY. They always told me it costs about $3000-$4000 to get your NYC carry permit.

Alyssa Milano needs the exposure, Alec Baldwin is a two faced twit that blows in the wind and Amy Schumer is a known dumb ass. But the article goes on to say they plan to expose the NRA for what it really is. Good. Go for it. Expose it as the voice of millions using the democratic process of lobbying to defend constitutional rights.
  31. 1 point
I am wondering exactly how many on that list have held a gun in a movie and were paid for it, how much they were paid, and if added up, if their pay tops what NRA lobbying was. And exactly how many of them are prepared to return that "dirty" money. Not donate it. Return it. I grow tired of people telling me what legal items I can't have because they don't like them. Even more so when they either profit from using those items in movies/TV, and/or when they themselves are protected by armed guards.

So next time NJ requires help, as it has in the past, to get power lines back up, trees cleared, etc after major storms I'm sure they'll be refusing such help from pro gun state's. Right?

While I know that the Governor can fire .45 Colt (from which the .454 Casull is derived, thus also the .460 S&W) and .410, it is chambered specifically to do so - I have no idea if there is a shoulder in the chamber or if it is bored straight through. Without seeing one, I'm sure there is a shoulder in the .460's chambers. Case length of a .460 is 1.80" / case length of a .410 shot shell is 2" minimum. That means that the mouth of the .410 shell is protruding into the throat of the .460 chamber. This is possible because of the slightly smaller diameter of the case (.470" vs. .478"). It would be safe to assume that this affects the pressure generated. SAAMI says that average pressure for a 2.5" .410 bore is 12,500 PSI. Given that the .460 generates 65,000 PSI, I doubt there is an issue here, other than getting the .410 cartridges to chamber. Go for it. Adios, Pizza Bob IANAB - (I Am Not A Ballistician)

Thank You. Condition is top notch on all of them except the stocks have some scratches from use on the Argentine and Venezuelan Low Number. I got lucky on these bought them one at a time except the Lux Low Number and Venezuelan High Number I bought from the same guy. Paid $750-1,200 a rifle. As for Production Numbers 5,537 Argentines in 7.65 Mauser but almost all were converted to 7.62x51. 1,000 Colombians in .30-06 6,000 Lux in .30-06 (5,000 low + 1,000 high) 8,000 Venezuelan in 7mm Mauser (4,000 each low and high) 37,602 Egyptians in 8mm Mauser of which 2,500 were 3 Sling Swivels and 100 were true Snipers. Egypt was the only Sniper not use Oip Scope. They used a Meopta Scope of which 1 is known. 1,500 Egyptian Eagle of Saladin all assembled by Century from leftover FN made Egyptian Receivers and spare parts. They all pop up monthly except the Colombian and Eagle of Saladin. I would say those are available once every 3 months on average. I sold a Lux High Number with the wrong stock for $1,800. The most I've seen a non sniper sell for was a Lux Low Number for $2,500. I hope that info helped with price and availability. I still need a Lux High Number to complete the available set of rifles. Only real difference is the Lux High Number had a matching numbered stock. The scopes complete often go for more than the rifles. The Belgian Scope Complete I got with the Lux I sold. I removed the scope and sold the rifle for what I paid for the scope and rifle. Usually a Belgian Scope Complete today goes for $1,200-1,600. Just the scope $800-1,000. Last 2 Lux Scopes that sold with the mount, lens cover and leather case, but no base sold for $2,550 each. One a couple months ago and one 2 years ago. Last Lux Scope to sell by itself was $1,200 8 years ago. Last Original Lux Sniper with Belgian Scope sold for $4,750 a couple weeks ago, but condition was not that good. About a year ago an all original Lux Sniper with Lux Scope sold for $7,500 in excellent condition. There were 203 Lux Snipers Made and all were imported to the United States. However almost none were imported with the original Lux Scope. Most have Belgian Scopes on them. 110 of the Lux Scopes were converted to use on the Fal. There are only 93 Original Lux Scopes left in the world. I was lucky to get 2 of them. I am still looking for a Lux AL Marked Bayonet. Got the Colombian Bayonet. The rest of the rifles made are basically unattainable. They are Congo, Brazil, Indonesia, and Belgium all in .30-06 and Original 7.65 Mauser Argentine with Non detachable mag. The Belgians pop up occasionally but most with the crest scrubbed. An Indonesian sold last month for $2,500, but was non matching with a cracked stock and Egyptian Parts. Indonesia does have 6,000 in storage so there is hope. Congo and Brazil are rarely seen, but maybe in military storage in their home country or they may have been destroyed. Original 7.65 Argentine there maybe a couple left. There supposedly is one in a museum in Argentina. Pics posted at bottom of Belgium I added, without the crest, but matching and below market value. After about six weeks of treating with the fertilizer that fishnut recommended, the plants have continued to do well. We have about a dozen butternut squash already and we're getting an increasing number of tomatoes of all varieties. I just ordered another gallon of the Tiger Bloom to feed them through the fruiting portion of the life cycle. Those tomato plants in the back are over 9' tall now.

I just got done fertilizing the garden with the stuff fishnut recommended and it reminded me of a funny event since that fertilizer is marketed toward pot farmers. When PX was still a home-based business, when I applied for the FFL, we were starting plants in the climate-controlled garage which I was also using for work purposes. When ATF came to do the site inspection/interview, they saw two long tables of seedling plants with grow lights on them. The IOI looked at me with a funny look and I opened the garage door to show him the garden where all of those plants were going. "Relax, I'm not growing pot." Every time he came back to do an inspection, we had plants on that table and he'd joke about it. Ahh, good times.
