Brought this one back to its original glory. Made 1918 U.S Property and Flaming Bomb marked. All matching likely refinished and reissued for WWII. Lanyard is original 1918. Lanyard loop also original. Grips I went repro solid walnut that look original. Originals cost nearly what I paid for the revolver. Also got an original ammo pouch with original ammo and half moonclips. Haven't fired it yet but I will. Before and after pic. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk

It's a lot less easier to "lie" about how stable you are when pulling the trigger with a bright red dot doing the hula across your wall. I deliberately have mine set to shine above my front sight, so I'm basically dotting the i on the front blade.

I like a laser on my rifle, not my handgun. I have a SIRT pistol for the training aid.

Two things to take away from the incident. #1 Australia already had a very low gun violence crime rate. Their culture and demographics are completely different than here in the USA. It's not fair to compare Ozzy land with the USA. As much as I hate to admit this, they are nicer more decent people who live in a mostly homogeneous society. To say that their gun control worked is like saying "I changed the oil in my honda and it still runs great". #2 This was not a "mass shooting. It was a murder suicide. A mass shooting is when someone walks into a public place (school, theater, concert etc...) and starts shooting indiscriminately. The perp may have a "cause" or some insane reason for the shooting, but they are not intimately familiar with their victims.

LOL! I am pretty sure I'm the shooter in this thread! Forgive me, Malice, I was not quick enough on the draw... I was out today but planned to sit down this evening and write a proper "thank you" thread.... first.. thanking you - @Malice4you- for a wonderful day at the Clinton WMA rifle range! I played hooky from work for about 3.5 hours on Friday and it was well worth it. What a blast! (BTW, all... Malice, unlike his scary name, has a very calm, instructional demeanor - I think he should get an instructor's cert. Seriously! He was that good). I also wanted to mention that in the last few weeks, I also enjoyed rifle loans from @BobAand his fiancée, Karen, @Scorpio64, @Zeke & @Mrs.Zeke, @High Exposure... (oops, does it limit the amount of names I can list?) because "Griz" and "RecessedFilter" should be in there too! I really wish some of the people that trash talk about "gun nuts" would meet some of the lovely, generous people that I have over the last couple of years! (And frankly, I've selfishly learned to accept people's generous offers to try firearms - selfishly, it's really saving me a bundle on rentals!) And I'm really glad Malice wrote this up --- because that's a higher level of knowledge and detail than I could have come up with. He nailed all the issues. It's also funny because I was already online (gunsamerica, gunbroker, etc.) trying to get ideas... and I stumbled across that CZ 455 and was already wondering about it (it's a "switch-barrel" rifle that comes with a barrel in .22lr and another barrel in .17hmr). Who would have thunk it? Clever! There's also the Sako Quad (4 barrels and an easier switching mechanism, but def'ly out of my budget at 1000s). So, if anyone has a first-hand opinion of the CZ 455, I'd love to hear it. And yes, so far, in rifles I've tried semi-autos, lever action and bolt action... and I am DEFINITELY gravitating towards a bolt action rifle... (what was that sound?... I think it was some of my AR-15 friends stifling a sob... sorry, guys!)

get a henry youth .22 lever action. they also have a single shot bolt action for kids. https://www.henryusa.com/rifles/mini-bolt-youth/ eta: hell I might have to add one of those to my upcoming henry purchases. eta2: if you and your friend are interested, I could bring my current collection of .22lr rifles (all are Henry's, shocking I know) and she could try them out. Scope options are available for them. The youth one I have has a custom cut stock to fit my son, but I have the original length stock as well. I need an "excuse" to get out to EFGA anyways.

I stuck a Crimson Trace CMR-201 on the P2000SK that'smy bump-in-the-night gun. I have a 2nd CMR-201 coming from the BOGOF program CT had recently. I have a pair of cheap (literally, $5) lasers on the P30L and SR22 that I use for trigger control practice and training. I have to re-zero the one on the P30 after every range session... it's THAT crappy

Given the run around most police departments give you to just get an FID or purchase permit, one might reasonably expect this to be epic.

50 yard zero for an AR all day long.. as stated.. 50 and 200 intersect.. and my typical AR shooting is inside 200 yards... so the amount of adjustment is relatively minimal..

Don't think you'd blow your fingers off but they will be injured. I know the support hand thumbs forward works well but never adopted it because it puts your thumb by the barrel/cylinder gap. I use the same grip on revolvers and semiautos where my support thumb is holding down my strong hand thumb. This keeps all my fingers behind the face of the cylinder.

Forester Whitaker eye is perhaps the greatest meme I’ve ever seen. How did that guy get so popular with that eye? Could it be that his performance in Fast Times at Ridgemont High was so great that thespians look past it?

Plan B should have already been put into place. You should have already ordered and have in inventory PLENTY of ammo in anticipation.

Red dot moving the bullet? Ok. Look at this chart that describes the flight of your bullet at different zeroing distances: Note: The dotted horizontal blue line marked 0.0 represents your line of sight. The colored arcs represent the path the bullet takes. The red dot doesn’t move the bullet. The dot represent where your line of sight and the path of your bullet intersect in space at a given distance from the muzzle. See, the instant you press the trigger, gravity starts working to make your bullet fall to the ground. Hold a bullet in your hand and extend your arm parallel to the ground. Now drop the bullet. The amount of time it takes the bullet to hit the ground is the same as if you fired it from a rifle (if the muzzle was perfectly parallel to the ground). To counter this, so we can shoot further, we adjust the sights to angle the barrel so it isn’t parallel to the ground. This angle gives the bullet a ballistic trajectory. Your eyes to not see on a ballistic trajectory, they see in a straight line. Therefore your line of sight (which is a straight line) and the path of your bullet (which is an arc) are not the same. The bullet, will intersect the line of sight 2 times - once while rising (because the sights are above the muzzle) and once while falling. With a 25 yard zero, the bullet is still rising the first time it crosses your line of sight and will continue to rise until about 225 yards - where it will be almost 8.5” above your line of sight (that means if you want to hit something 225 yards away, you have to aim 8.5” low). After reaching its maximum ordinate at 225 yards, the bullet will start to fall and cross your line of sight again at about 375 yards. All this should tell you is that a 25 yard zero sucks for anything other than shooting 25 yards. I have found that the 50yard zero is the most useful for a shooting an AR. Zero at 50 yards and your bullet will intersect with your line of sight at 50 yards (while rising), maximum ordinate will be reached at about 130 yards and only be about 2” high, then start to fall crossing your line of sight again at 200 yards. Much more useful. You put the dot on the target and you will hit within +/- 2” from 25 to 225 yards. Mechanical offset will still rear its ugly head inside 25 yards and you will have to adjust accordingly - but that is regardless of zero. *This is all considering you are using a red dot optic on an AR type platform.

The people working for 2A organizations are more interested in booking outings and getting reimbursed for hotel rooms and rental cars than they are with their true mission. It's the same with my labor union, no fight and their main concern is just keeping their head above water so they can get reelected to another 2 year term.

Thank you for the thoughtful contribution, however it was once if you're counting. At no point were the range or NRA safety rules violated. The firearm was treated as loaded. The firearm was not pointed anywhere unsafe. I was aware of it's condition the entire time, and it remained in my control. Putting a loaded handgun on a table pointing down-range is not unsafe... Now, if I was giving it to people, or walking away from it, it would be a different story. Jeez!
