City? 4"? Folding? Self defense? Let's make up our own laws. Sheesh. Sent from an undisclosed location via Tapatalk

Just recently "finished". I've had the lower for quite some time, and it's gone through several different iterations, but I think I'm done for now. Spikes Tactical lower Daniel Defense LPK w/ ALG ACT Daniel Defense DDM4V5 lightweight upper Magpul STR stock (not neutered) Aimpoint PRO Magpul 30rd PMAG Streamlight ProTac HL-X It's quite heavy, so I think my next 16" AR will concentrate a little more on weight savings. I have considered replacing the lower with a DD lower, just to satisfy my OCD. Oh and it's located in NH, so all those goodies are legal

Let me make myself clearer. What friggin City is the OP referring to, and what does it matter in NJ? No where in NJ law does length matter. Maybe it does in your house. Again, folding, straight, switch, or gay blade, it dontfrigginmatter. Self-defense illegal?

No way! We have to blame Trump, the Democrats, immigrants, the AG, Kavanaugh, and Glock somehow.

I collect ball point pens, and carry them regularly for the sole purpose to use as a weapon for self-defense purposes. Illegal?

Although somewhere in the middle of this sea of clueless comments, someone had made a very good point: "If the state’s documented position about these 3D guns is that “this creates an imminent risk to its citizens” are they also stating that justifiable need now exists for my CCW permit when these plans are allowed to be published? Watch how quick they shift to “this is a 1A issue and doesn’t mean 3D guns are rampant or an issue in this state” when that claim is made on a CCW application."

2 things 1) Judge Sheridan is a republican (served as director of state republican committee) and was appointed to the bench by George Bush. While I realize that republican nominated judges are not always reliable, I’d rather take my chances on a Republican. 2) This is a high profile case. The losing side will appeal to the 3rd Circuit Court. A 3 judge panel will scrutinize his decision. This may end up before SCOTUS. There is simply NO WAY he decides this without full briefings and hearings. A case like this may be his legacy. He doesn’t want this case sent back to him be an appeals court because he didn’t hold hearings or adequately justify his decision.

My opinion will be unpopular among the others in this thread, but I'd have to disagree with some of them. You do get what you pay for with these rifles. I'm not telling you that you should spend $2k out the door on your first rifle, but you'd probably be best staying away from the incredibly cheap brands. S&W and Stag are reputable brands, and will provide you with a rifle reliable enough to plink with and learn the platform. If you're interested in having something for home defense or something similar, there are plenty of brands that are still affordable but of higher quality. Materials do vary based off of who the manufacturer is. There's also different surface treatments, as well as varying levels of quality control from different companies. Look up some videos of poor assembly quality coming out of some cheaper companies. Enjoy your new rifle, and start saving now for all the others that you buy

He was carrying a 4 inch blade. Nowhere does it say that 4 inches is the maximum length of a blade one can carry lawfully.

I carry a knife every single day, and have since I was like 8 (I’m 52 now). I’ve never been hassled by any LEO in any state for it, even though I wear it clipped to my pocket and visible to God and everyone. I even recently got through security and boarded an aircraft at PHL, without TSA catching it (scary!). No worries, I had no ill intentions...I just forgot it was clipped to my pocket! The ONLY time any LEO has ever said anything about it was at the Library of Congress a few months back. It was clipped to my pocket when I went through the metal detector to do service to one of my machines there. The cop asked me about it, and I told him it was a ‘tool of the trade’. He let me through no further questions asked. I think the law exists for those intending to, or do commit a crime. I doubt seriously any LEO would give a normal Joe on the street any crap about carrying a pocketknife.

According to the state v. Blaine reference, the burden is on the PRNJ to prove that you are carrying the knife with criminal intentions. If you have a specifically listed knife "gravity knife, dirk, dagger, stiletto, etc" then you would need a reason for carrying a listed "dangerous weapon." Otherwise, if you carry any other knife, you are a law abiding citizen. I'm on my way to the grocery store. I will leave my house with a knife (SOG Escape) and no intent to use it to commit a crime so it's legal. Should the need arise where I must defend myself, I would choose to use it because I am not breaking a law by defending myself; there is not a law that says I cannot defend myself (if there is, please post it). If I happen to be in contact with law enforcement for some other reason and they inquire as to why I have a knife, I would simply answer "I live in the woods, it's just a tool". Should said law enforcement officer decide that I should be charged as a criminal simply for possessing a knife not listed on the "dangerous knife weapon list", I'm willing to let the lawyers do their research and come to the correct conclusion that my knife is not listed, I had no criminal intent, case closed. The legal documents uses a lot of double negatives and excess words which I think confuses things, but the Blaine case set a precedent for applying the law after the Brown case by clarifying the definition of "Dangerous Knife" to be those specifically listed like a dagger or stiletto and it established the fact that the state has a burden to prove criminal intent. That's huge. It means you can legally possess the knife as long as you don't have the intent to commit a crime with it.

Is there a legal precedent where someone was charged for something for claiming that a knife they were carrying was for self defense? 1982 State v. Brown, the New Jersey Appellate Court found that a person does not need to intend to use a knife as a weapon in order for it to be considered a dangerous knife, and therefore a weapon. This decision can make it difficult for a person to determine if a particular knife is legal to own, as it could be considered a dangerous knife, even if the owner has no intention of using it to harm another. However, because New Jersey law allows for the possession of a dangerous knife, by those who have a legal purpose for owning them, any knife may be considered legal if owned for a “lawful purpose”. The phrase “lawful purpose” was challenged in State v. Blaine, when Mr. Blaine was discovered carrying a folding knife with a 4 inch blade. The Court reasoned that because the knife carried by Mr. Blaine was not a gravity knife, switchblade knife, dagger, dirk or stiletto, those knives specifically mentioned by new Jersey statute as weapons, the defendant may escape a guilty finding, if the state cannot prove that he carried the knife for an unlawful purpose the law is clear as mud, your results may vary.

PK90, I mostly agree with you, but I believe one can face legal action in NJ by claiming one is carrying a knife for "self defense." We are expected to be willing victims in this state, not people who can defend ourselves. I believe a rape whistle is still legal to carry.

also see this https://www.quora.com/What-are-New-Jerseys-knife-laws The New Jersey legislature has defined weapon as anything “readily capable of lethal use or of inflicting serious bodily injury”. It further states that the term includes gravity knives, switchblade knives, daggers, dirks, stilettos, or other “dangerous” knives. In 1982, in State v. Definition of Lawful Purpose: The phrase “lawful purpose” was challenged in State v. Blaine, when Mr. Blaine was discovered carrying a folding knife with a 4 inch blade. The Court reasoned that because the knife carried by Mr. Blaine was not a gravity knife, switchblade knife, dagger, dirk or stiletto, those knives specifically mentioned by new Jersey statute as weapons, the defendant may escape a guilty finding, if the state cannot prove that he carried the knife for an unlawful purpose. As such, because there was no proof that Mr. Blaine did not carry the knife for a lawful purpose, he could not be found guilty of carrying an illegal weapon. The Blaine Court cited State v. Lee, in which the legislature’s intent, when enacting the law prohibiting the carrying of certain knives

Mipafox (RIP) used to remind us that all knives are illegal in Philadelphia. While I have not verified this, it certainly seems worth looking into, if one is headed there.

They are not. To the OP, there are a few in the marketplace that will do all that you need.

I think you should jump on it, of course it's safe. There really isn't anything to it, most parts from most mfg all conform to the same specs and tolerances. Some guys just pay 3x more for the name etched into the side. The AR-15 came down in price because pretty much anyone with the right kind of FFL and a CNC setup can make receivers and sell at a profit for less than $50 each. Like I said, a lot of the attitudes around the AR-15 are outdated. Yes they used to be overpriced, delicate jam-o-matics but those days are over, people all over are plinking with $400 AR's every weekend.

I buy from them. had them ship a handgun to a local FFL. Also bought ammo from them as well as other miscellaneous gear. No problems at all. A co-worker of mine also uses them for camping and hunting gear. What a bunch of cucks. It was being shipped to a residential address non-PO box. I just ordered one off another site. My friends bachelor party is coming up and these are SO much fun to use at parties. I've had for awhile but misplaced it. Last year we had a bunch of ppl go out onto the lake in canoes and kayaks and we bombed them from the shoreline like 50-100yds away. Planning on doing something of the sort this time. We rented a gigantic lake house in upstate NY for a weekend.

Wtf they made the "super deadly assault weapon" marlin 60 legal and not slingshots? Even though I'm out I still hate NJ more and more every day! I'm going to buy my daughter a slingshot today just because I can. I'll give her a map of NJ as a target.

IF they wanna protest a coyote hunt.....we could always set it up the humane way. catch and release. we'll trap em where they're not wanted. then we can release them safely into the neighborhoods where these people that love these animals so much live.
