It’s a right, not a privilege. You may not like it GnC, but you don’t get to choose who gets to exercise their rights and who doesn’t. They people get to choose for themselves. Pretty cool how that works, huh? Maybe if more people owned and carried guns in N.J., and maybe if there was an actual established gun culture in N.J., everyone would have a better idea on how to act around firearms. The four firearms safety rules would be common knowledge like cross at the green and not in between and don’t eat yellow snow. Imagine if growing up in a gun friendly house and being raised by enthusiast parents didn’t make you a social pariah. Imagine if schools had hunters ed alongside drivers ed and a shooting team - clays, bullseye, 3 Gun - alongside basketball and baseball. It’s funny. Those same people drive, marry, have kids. Each of those things is infinitely more prone to causing death, injury, and disaster. Yet the “idiots” miraculously seem to manage. I wonder why? Probably because they are surrounded by those that know what they are doing. Because these things are commonly practiced, commonly accepted, and everyday topics of discussion without fear of repercussions. Maybe we should take time to teach people at the range instead of bitch about how unsafe they would be if they were to exercise their rights.

Well, I can see a lot of long guns sold last month, or a few months ago, in the future........... Fuck them! Can't do that with handguns though. Again, fuck them!

Darwin.. this country has shifted so far from personal responsibility it’s pathetic. What’s more pathetic is that some feel they are special, should be more free, or tell others how to live their life.. and what they need.. Unsafe behavior at a range calls for removal... if it cannot be corrected. Work one for a day

Yeah. That’s been making the rounds. Idiots for sure. Larry Vickers offered the RO a free slot in one of his classes for his quick response.

Just got back from a wonderful trip to Maine, including a visit to Acadia for some sightseeing and hiking. They have Constitutional carry up there (except for in the park, for some reason), which means that anyone who is not an otherwise prohibited person can carry a concealed firearm with no required training or credentials. It works just fine there, as it does in the other 11 or so states that have the same provision. But in NJ, politicians and anti-gun activists continue to insist, "But it's different here."

I feel bad.. According to this in 2017 NJ had only 1,212 active carry permits(which I think is low..do cops need a ccw?) In 2017, my county(Bucks) issued almost 9 times the amount of LTCF's vs the entire state of NJ. That sucks bad. I know you will all say PA is next to follow NJ..ect... but as of 2017 there were 1,317,922 active permits statewide source: http://forum.pafoa.org/showthread.php?t=337446 You guys need to relocate.

Everyone should get a concealed carry permit.

More so than your average cab driver, convenience store worker, pharmacist, veterinarian, bartender, etc.? Profession should never/ever be a determining factor in application of Constitutional Rights.

You obviously missed the point. You have been brainwashed to believe the government is looking out for your best interest all in the name of safety and security. Which you willingly give up your freedom and liberty for. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk

Yes everyone gets to carry unless you lost your rights through due process. In which case you get caught you are likely going away. I also believe rights should be restored if rehabilitated if not rehabilitated then they shouldn't be released from prison. Certain offenders can not be rehabilitated that's when rule .303 should be invoked. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk

Follow the money.... Why does NJ use a third party to source a NICS background check. Who owns the company and who makes money? Now the amount of NICS checks will increase dramatically.

Whenever this Bob V issue pops up I like to point out that he co-chairs the Legislative Action committee with Scott Bach (executive director) for ANJRPC, a very odd pairing imo.

What a novel idea. I think someone here said we need a new group in NJ and to cut ties with ANJRPC and the NRA if they aren't going to do anything radical in NJ. They had 8 years of a GOP governor to do something, but they didn't want to hurt Christie's feelings and risk him turning on us. So there was a 8 year delay of the inevitable and the inevitable came. It's a long play we are told. There is a master plan. Seems it took less than 3 years in Missouri. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

FTF sales now require a Background Check.... So yes, you need to go to the FFL of your choice and ask what he charges.... As far as charges ...... thats between you and buyer/seller how you want to handle the cost...

NJ gun owners don't like a challenge. They're PUSSIES, and we have to change THAT! We need to turn them into TIGERS willing to stand-up for themselves and their brethren. One peek at all of the posts in the "When should I block or throw away my 15 round mags" threads HERE ON THIS FORUM gives you an idea of just how naive & ignorant the average gun owner is. It's basically an extension of the ignorant following FOPA rules for interstate transportation of firearms WHILE STILL INSIDE NJ, for an extra level of self-assuredness, all the while quaking in their boots hoping not to get stopped for a tail light out so they can naively CONFESS to the first Cop that shows-up that they pissed at Burger King and stopped for a latte at Starbucks then went to the milk store on the way home, picking-up dry cleaning & stamps along the way Some Commandos on this forum won't even take the word of FFL's or current & retired sworn LEO's that hang here to help that know real-world application of law and the EXEMPTIONS that let us mere serfs own & use firearms. PK-90, H.E. & GRIZ come immediately to mind. Like I said, we need to CHANGE that. Sometimes even I feel defeated and wish to administer a Civics test just to be allowed to write here. Colandro's battle cry has always been "EACH ONE, REACH ONE!", and in addition to the various appearances I put-in (oft times shooting leagues at local clubs that are members of the ANJRPC) I have the distinct pleasure of finding volunteer talent to teach at Tony Simon's "The 2nd is for Everyone: Diversity Shoot" that takes place 6x a year at GunForHire. Last Thursday was no exception. Several Coalition members stepped-up and taught old hands & Newbies alike how to shoot their personal guns, including 100 year old War Horses like a Winchester 1917 and a 1944 M-1 Garand in .30-06. Tomorrow is a new day and I won't waste it. I don't know how many tomorrows I have left. Me give up w/o a fight? NEVER! Rosey CNJFO's "KILROY WAS HERE!" SHARES A WW2 EXPERIENCE! SIMON's DIVERSITY SHOOT TAUGHT BY OUR RIFLE EXPERT! by Black Wire Media Saturday Oct. 6, 2018 www.cnjfo.com/join-us The Coalition of New Jersey Firearm Owners had several volunteer instructors teaching Diversity Shoot attendees the correct & safe way to handle & shoot all types of firearms. Thursday night's event was headlined by our very own "Kilroy Was Here!", a member of our communications committee's freelance writing staff. "Kilroy Was Here!" is a famous WW2 expression written upon trucks, tanks, APC's, buildings and on anything & everything touched by World War Two GI's in every theatre. A statement that US forces have overcome severe obstacles to wage & win a war on several continents simultaneously. In NJ we fight our 2nd Amendment battles daily, and of late it looks like we just might be winning! What better way to celebrate than by having our resident WW2 expert give a brief lecture at Tony Simon's, "The 2nd is for Everyone: Diversity Shoot" and then supply his antique battle rifles & .30 caliber ammo for everyone to enjoy! GunForHire's Woodland Park 50 yard range is loaned to Simon for this event by range owner & ANJRPC Executive Vice President Anthony Colandro. The crowd loved shooting Kilroy's Battle Rifles. Kilroy brought his 1944 Springfield Armory M-1 Garand along with more than 100 rounds of .30 caliber ammo. General George S. Patton, Jr. was famously quoted regarding the M-1 his men were issued: “In my opinion, the M-1 rifle is the greatest battle implement ever devised!” Shooters enjoyed putting the re-barreled in '64 US Rifle Cal .30-06 through its' paces, and proper handling tamed the recoil--even the ladies wanted extra trigger time! Everyone was all smiles and Kilroy wants to do it again soon! ( photos by CNJFO member Angelo Yacone & "Kilroy")

Not everyone would want one, but the ones who want one, should not be infringed. See how that works. So, there are no gun ranges and thousands of people who own guns in the states that allow CCW? Do many people die by shooting themselves in the face in those states?

There really is no reason for a pistol purchase permit any more now that FTF sales have been effectively banned. FTF sales was the only rationale left for needing to go through a background check to get a PPP. With that gone all handgun transfers are subject to background checks at the dealer, so the PD check is now officially needless redundant bureaucracy that is wasting police resources and tax payer money. Anyone want to file a lawsuit?

People build their rifles to their particular tastes. You need to find someone that wants the exact rifle with the exact parts that you purchased to assemble if you want to get anywhere near what you put into it. There are a lot of great parts in that gun, some are the same parts I would choose myself if building a carbine. But there are also some parts that I wouldn’t use because of personal preference and don’t want to pay premium prices for parts I don’t want. You’ll never get everything you put into it back - the market is just too saturated right now. And you are asking way too much for used parts. You need to take 25%-33% off everything at a minimum. The only reason to buy from you versus buying new from say Brownells or Primary Arms is a fair and approproate discount for used parts. You’ll have to take a pretty steep discount to sell the rifle as a package. As stated above, you’ll probably make the most money back by parting the gun out.

I would have the seller fill it out, and both the seller and buyer retain their own copies, not the dealer. The dealer should check #32 on the 4473. The NJSP FIU did not want any COEs in the past and I see no changes by law?

..and going back to the original topic, I'm guessing no chance to get approved for a CCW for doctors even with a demonstrable, justifiable need?

Great post and I have to agree for the most part. For me however I refuse to pay the transfer fees if I see somebody posting to sell something and then I decide to buy it. My reasoning is that they are looking to sell it I didn't ask them specifically for it, I didn't put a wanted to buy add up. If you are looking to sell you better factor in those transfer cost in your price. Then again, I find I buy very little in New Jersey because people seem to have an inflated value of what they have and always include the nics in the price. Kind of an interesting studying seller Behavior to be honest I also guarantee that quite a few people are not going to use or abide by the new law. Imagine having done business with somebody for years upon years or family or close friends and now all of a sudden the two of you are expected to go through an FFL? unless you are buying anything serialized after the date it is virtually impossible for anyone to determine when you sold it to them because you could say I sold it prior to that date.

Seems we have another Bob loving Anti amongst us. How about there should be no permit needed to exercise a right. Yes everyone should be able to carry. There should also be no background checks because they are an infringement, and they do little to nothing to prevent criminals from getting firearms. I would rather risk a little safety than infringe for a second on freedom and liberty. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I don't see transfer costs changing. It's still time and paperwork to be filled out so I'm not sure why people expect it to be less. Who pays the fees will probably depend on each individual transaction and how both seller and buyer work it out. I think splitting it 50/50 is fair but I think a lot of people will expect the buyer to eat the costs. I think it'll also depend on how the item is priced and if it's a good deal. There's no doubt this law will be doing exactly what its intention is - decreasing ftf sales. Variables such as transfer fees, NICS checks and the slow system we have will cause tons of problems, as well as having to plan what FFL and where to meet up will all have a major effect on gun sales.

I had to look it up: http://www.scotusblog.com/2013/07/the-first-court-packing-plan/ And more recently in 1937: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Judicial_Procedures_Reform_Bill_of_1937 As for the subject at hand, I don’t know. Easy to say we shouldn’t rely on judicial help but honestly that’s about all we have left, at least from a purely 2A perspective. This state is so left-leaning it’s about to capsize and single-issue voters are rare. I don’t think 2A is potent enough in this state to carry the torch and swing legislative or executive branches. Maybe by teaming with other similar-minded groups we might get some momentum.

Peel you're more stimulating than a cattle prod! Interesting how (almost) everybody is answering the dollars part of your (welcomed by at least ME) diatribe but not the doughnuts part The opinionated keyboard commando always has the best answer, the ONLY answer that will solve whatever problem is being ban-tied about. Too slow, too little, too late is still better than whatever they've personally done (which is nuthin' or next to it in most cases). The "Us"-ers need to learn to work TOGETHER for a common good instead of stepping on their own schlongs (oh do they really think they're THAT long?)! Our side starts-out every day at an extreme disadvantage. We trot-in to the field of battle wearing our blaze orange and get picked-off one at a time by snipers. We fight "fair" instead of "dirty", and we even argue about what "fair" IS.....and it's got to STOP! Keep beating them over their heads until they squeal. We need to vote this mid-term!

Recommend listening to the 10/07 American Armed Radio podcast. The guest in the first hour is Allen Gottlieb, head of the 2nd Amendment Foundation. He has stated in the past, and mentioned again in the above podcast that: You need four SCOTUS votes to grant cert but 5 to Win. Ie "If you don't have the 5 votes to win, you won't get the 4 votes to grant cert." As mentioned in prior posts, this is to not risk an unfavorable decision becoming the law of the land forever. Hopefully, we will now start seeing 2A cases get Cert. Mr. Gottleib also stated the SAF has two cases awaiting cert during the current SCOTUS calendar. So they may the first ones to watch.

What happens if a state continues to go further into debt? Where does it end? Nothing happens. There is no end. They can spend, spend, and spend. The citizens keep paying, paying, and paying.
