I have the same problem. I segregated all of my soon to be illegal mags and put them in a big box. The damn box disappeared and my wife thinks she may have accidentally thrown them away! I looked everywhere and the trash was picked up last night! Oh well........What's gone is gone!

I agree with others, cold turkey. It will be 1 year since I had my last cigarette on Nov 1. I also quit for almost 5 uears about 10 years ago. And both times, only cold turkey worked. I tried everything, patch, chantix, gum, vape, and nothing helped. And to be honest, people telling you to quit only makes it worse. The only way I have been able to quit is cold turkey, and by wanting to quit. There is a big difference between wanting to quit and thinking you want to quit because your wife, kids, friends, etc... talked you into it. You need to really want to quit!

Cold turkey. Everything else is just prolonging it. When you get a craving think/do something else for a few minutes and it goes away. I haven't smoked in 7 or 8 years and I still get cravings. I honestly didn't even want to quit, my wife wanted me to. It was mind over matter, nothing else.

Van Drews so called positive 2A view is USELESS, I don't care how sincere he seems about it, he is a willing and active part of the democrat machine in NJ and should be despised as such if you cherish the 2A.

Cold turkey. That and what worked for me also was becoming a homebound hermit for a month or so. No going out with the guys, partys, even bars and restaurants (back then you could still smoke in 'em...and get cigs out of the machine in Pathmark for 80 cents lol). Its a mind game and you have to really want it, to me the all the substitutes is slow torture. And think how much money you'll save. Seriously- add it up and use that as an incentive to reward yourself with a prize down the road. Good luck!

After smoking for 20 yrs and trying all different ways to quit, including hypnotism, I finally did it cold turkey. I just picked a day and said this is the day I'm going to quit. I sat at home that day and read a book for hours ignoring all urges and mentally blocking out all the associations and triggers. By the second day my urge to smoke was already gone. By the end of the week I felt like I never smoked. That was 13 yrs ago. I never touched a cigarette again.

Quit cold turkey in 86, best decision in my life. No long story from me, just go back and read InFamous and Fatty’s posts, they hit the nail on the head. Good luck, don’t expect it to be easy, it’s the toughest battle you’re likely to ever have - your opponent being yourself.... I’d like to tell you the urge to smoke goes away in a few weeks - not true, could take at least a year. About 30 days into quitting smoking, you’ll be coughing up grey slugs of goop, that’s your lungs clearing up - it’s a good thing. Good luck (luck won’t help, this is real work). Keep us posted, come back and tell us how your making out. Be honest, again your opponent is yourself.

I agree with the above for quitting cold turkey. Ive been cigarette free for exactly 13 months now with no turning back. After over 15 years of smoking, it was hard as hell to do but so worth it. Life changing experience and it made me feel like I could do anything. Just woke up one morning and made a strong willed decision to quit for my family. Cut the first craving, the second, third, and kept chugging until days, weeks, then months passed by. Once the first month is down, it gets easier and easier... just understand that the withdrawl symptoms can get pretty intense (migraines, anger, body aches, etc...) but remember that its temporary and worth the fight. Most important factor is not giving into any excuses your mind might be telling you to sneak a harmless smoke. All it takes is one slip up and you're back to square one. Good luck bud. You can absolutely do it. edit; ive also tried vaping (for several years) but in all honesty you're still committing yourself to the nicotine addiction and the cravings will never stop. Mind over matter.

I went to one of these maybe 8 or 9 years ago and dropped off a broken, single shot 20 gauge( H&R) and a broken double barrel 12 gauge (Sears and Roebuck) and got more money than if I sold them on here as broken. I then used the money for a new gun. Win win

Sadly, I posses nothing particularly interesting. But you can add this to the list... Walther PPQm2

So, what will the guys here, who neutered or replaced their 15s with 10s say, when they go to the range a year or so from now and still see other people show up with 15s and never get questioned?

I guess it’ll be a fairy tale haha. I don’t know how to upload a photo less then 520kb. Regardless, I know what I have and have worked hard for what I do. If you ever see a 30yr old with a Green Iraq Vet hat and a battlefield cross on the forearm and probably have a shemagh. on shooting on lane 1 or 2 only ( not aloud to shoot .50 on any other due to the backstop being lower ) at Range 14 ask if he’s the Tuna. I’ll let you shoot whatever I am that day if you want....

Hi, everyone. I've been a member here for the past 3 years, so I figured it was time to introduce myself. My home range is SJSC, but I'm thinking of checking out Quinton because I love nothing more than shooting shotguns. I enjoy reading everyone's comments on these forums, especially the gun law discussions. It's a great place to keep informed. I look forward to throwing my 2 cents in. Ken

A buddy of mine told me he did this back in the day. Buy a couple of cheap shot guns. Saw the barrel off and cash it in at gun buy back.

A friends father was told to volunteer at a cancer hospital for a few hours, that made him quit cold turkey, I was never a heavy smoker, but also went cold turkey as someine else said mind over matter if you can do it.. willpower. whatever you choose best of luck and good choice.

I tried everything: the patch, gum, hypnosis, etc. None of it worked. What finally did it for me was that my wife (who quit via hypnosis) refused to kiss me because "I smelled like an ashtray". I had to do it cold turkey, just tough it out for a few weeks. It gets easier, especially if you lay off the booze the first few weeks.

You need to understand politicians play politics within their own party. The Democrats don't care if one of them votes against a anti-gun bill as long they know it will pass anyway. More so if that's what it takes for that legislator to be re-elected in their district. Just as long as they pull the party line on other votes. If you look at Van Drew''s voting record he usually votes against anti-gun bill. That's the fallacy of the NRA rating. They only look at gun issues. Van Drew voted for NICS for private transfers. That's the biggest PITA for gun owners in NJ. It's also another "tax" as the state will collect more from NICS. He also voted for tuition assistance for illegal aliens. Given the choice between a candidate with a NRA A rating who's for higher taxes and more government control and another with an NRA B rating who's for lower taxes and less control I'll take the B rated guy. You can't be a one issue voter.

Class was $600 for 2 days. Certainly not cheap, but IMO, worth it. Awesome thanks. I will definitely let you know. I think I may have figured out my problem tho. After the 1st day of shooting to 450, I was messing with my turrets because the hash mark on the turrets wasn't lining up with the indicator line on the scope body. Im think I may have shifted it over a mil when adjusting that cap. That would explain why my numbers started deviating about a mil over expected at 500+. Im headed to R14 on Friday and if my zero isn't correct at 100, Ill know that was my problem.

Whilst? I'm impressed Zeke. I have to admit, I picked up a few 10 rounders for my CZ Compact to take to the range, but for the life of me I can't seem to locate the 14 rounders I had.

I was there the last 2 rallys. Took pictures and met a bunch of members from here. Im not planning on giving up, but this state is pretty damn hopeless when it comes to guns, especially when only 1-2000 show up for rallys...and nothing pro is even a blip on our radars. I am curious how aggressively the state will go after the clueless thousands who are unknowingly going to be felons in December. Meanwhile, thousands of us who do know are forced to spend significant money replacing or modifying our previously legal and already unusual and expensive magazines for a feel-good law that doesn't even grandfather anything, while waiting/hoping for a hail mary at the last second.

Anyone bringing anything to these buy back things should first give us on the forum a crack at it. Also these buy backs don’t help the (our) cause any.
  36. 1 point
From my limited time I've been paying attention, it almost seems that way. Have we ever won any fight? Along those lines, why hasn't ANJRPC planned a big rally to get all gun owners protesting and marching on Trenton right before these upcoming midterms. Wouldn't thousands of gun owners, holding 15 round magazines high in the air get some attention by the politicians up for re-election? Has anything like this been proposed by any of the 2A groups, or are they just going to roll over and take it up the ass without lube come December..... again...?

Yea, good idea, maybe if we ignore The-Lefty they will just go away and leave us alone. You probably don't vote either. The usual attitude for "success" some people have, do nothing, but bitch and complain about those people and organizations who try to do something.

Ray, you will be one of the few people around that knows how to shoot a revolver in the future. I'm sure you can write cursive and know how to use a dial phone. I'll bring some revolvers too.

Listen, I've been watching this thread... and all of its speculation and innuendo, etc. Honestly, I'm not 100 percent sure what the facts are, but our rules call for no "personal attacks". As a small business owner myself, if someone is casting aspersions on my business (whether they're saying it's my fault or someone else's is irrelevant)… well, I would consider that a "personal attack" - because it's my livelihood, and what's more "personal" than that?! So, in the same way I chastised people who piled on after the suicide at TTC, I'm going to end this, too. @Caraj- if you have some issues that you feel Anythony C. at Gun for Hire can address, then please PM him directly. If you have a problem with the property owner (which sounds more the case), then have your lawyer reach out to his lawyer... or whatever. This is not a place for an ongoing "airing of grievances" that cast shade on someone's livelihood. Use PMs or chat on this issue going forward. If you have an issue, feel free to PM me. Locking this down.

This kind of stuff makes me cringe. People being reckless with something deadly is scary as hell. People taking selfies doing dumb stuff at the range, using phones while driving, etc. Danger to society.
  42. 1 point
This was actually on the news last night too. They wouldn’t even let them back in the range to get there personal belongings. They had someone gather their stuff while they explained how many rules they broke and how dumb they were and then banned them for life.

I beg to differ. That jackass, and his friend, is decidedly without holes. Mainly thanks to the quick action of the RSO.

I remember years ago one guy got kidnapped for some reason. Ccw denied. How many victims of domestic violence denied. A piece if paper retraining order will protect you. Yeah right. This state is definitely a victim of it's own mental illness.

Once the gun was on the table the RO should have beat his ass to leave a lasting impression
  46. 1 point
You have to hand it to the RO with how fast he took control of the guy's hand and showed them the door

More so than your average cab driver, convenience store worker, pharmacist, veterinarian, bartender, etc.? Profession should never/ever be a determining factor in application of Constitutional Rights.
  48. 1 point
Yeah. That’s been making the rounds. Idiots for sure. Larry Vickers offered the RO a free slot in one of his classes for his quick response.

Just got back from a wonderful trip to Maine, including a visit to Acadia for some sightseeing and hiking. They have Constitutional carry up there (except for in the park, for some reason), which means that anyone who is not an otherwise prohibited person can carry a concealed firearm with no required training or credentials. It works just fine there, as it does in the other 11 or so states that have the same provision. But in NJ, politicians and anti-gun activists continue to insist, "But it's different here."

Don't ever be fooled by any party affiliations. They're politicians. They're not in it for the public service or civic minded duty. The'll say whatever needs to be said for whatever they want at any given moment. If that was the mood of they room at the time then that's what you'll hear. They are liars.
