You two are on the same team. Time for a snickers? Rosey P.S.: Jersey OEM's are always playing catch-up. Cause MONEY. Cause shiny new fire trucks win trophy's in Wildwood

Did you like the knife you lost? Did it do everything you wanted it to do? Did it have all of the attributes you were looking for? If so, why reinvent the wheel? Just get the same knife again. Don’t get bogged down in esoteric minutiae. If it worked fine before it will work fine in the future. Don’t let a little knowledge that there may be something out there with better steel, or a better opening or locking method, or whatever it is, dissuade you from buying and using what works for you. If it served you fine before, it will surely serve you equally as well in the future.

You should acknowledge that even with the best, well-understood preplan you can still end up with a chaotic and dynamic scene. I wasn’t at this fire, and certainly it sounded chaotic on the radio, but that may not be because the crews were not prepared. Sometimes things go sideways.

@weekend_junkie My chest freezer is 7.5 cu ft and I've put a whole pig (from farm & butcher, not wild) in it. Live weight was a little under 300 and I brought home about 150 lbs. Had a little room to spare. Also bought 1/4 cow before. Forgot the weight now, but that fills it completely with a few pieces having to go into another freezer. Obviously your mileage may vary, depending on the shape and size of your cuts, but 7-9 is good size for chest meat freezer. To get the same amount of meat in an upright freezer, you would need to spend more on a much larger upright freezer that will cost a little more in electricity to operate since it has a bigger space to cool. Speaking of energy efficiency, look at the label on the freezer to see what type of refrigerant it uses. The newer ones use R600a and the compressor for these are VERY energy efficient. My meat freezer uses it and is rated to draw 1.5 amps at 115 volts. Some will show watt usage but if it shows amps, just multiply amps x volts to get watts. Older freezer use R134a and the compressors for these draw more power to compress this and pump it through the system. You'll see higher wattage use or amp ratings for these models. Over the life of the unit, you'll save more money on electricity with one that uses R600a, regardless if it is chest or stand up. You mentioned bacon in your original question. I haven't had a wild boar processed but a friend of mine has had several. He said they they are much more lean than farm raised pigs and they don't have much fat on them so you cannot get bacon from them. I'm sure other can confirm or deny, but just something to check into if you were literally talking bacon. I prefer a chest freezer, but what Zeke said is so true. Most people with a chest freezer just fill it with either a whole pig, quarter or half a cow, several deer, etc then start eating their way in from top to bottom. they usually don't make it to the bottom before food on bottom gets old, or they realize it sucks to have to move over 110 pounds of frozen meat out of the way every time they want to even see what is on the bottom. It takes more planning and organization skill for how you arrange your items in a chest freezer dedicated to meat. Some come with baskets or you can do like @fishnut mentioned above and use milk crates to separate and organize things better. Those the best ideas I've seen for dealing with this problem.

Love it. The button is hard to move, so you couldn't accidentally move it or a child couldn't move it. It also has a glass break on the other end.

Think H&K I was seriously considering a P10C to complement my P07 Compact but it isn't as good as my VP9 or a PPQ. The P07, which I can assure @siderman agrees, is an awesome gun.

I have an RIA in 9mm, not the tactical, great gun IHO. Have close to 1K rounds through it and not a hiccup.

Sounds right. The only problem with this equation is the P07 mags dont reciprocate the favor and work in the P10C. I was considering the P10C until I realized my P07 mags won't cross fit and at CZ's crazy mag prices , forget it.

Let's take your comments one at a time - however, a common mistake on the internet is that people really do not know whom them are dealing with an make assumptions - but that is part of the fun - no? Alex- I will take " I too lazy to search for anything for 100 please " NO - NOT Maybe - Libraries are your friend there is NO credible citation that he ever said it - and without the citation he DID NOT SAY it - there are many quotes that are made in reference to gun rights that were never said and or taken wildly out of context to suit a narrative. Remember libraries, Gopher and the interwebs searches are your friend and NOT wikipedia. You can try to infer that he possibly said it - but without the citation - nope. Alex - I will take " Debating 101 for 200 please " I was inferring that the people of that generation, the byproduct of the great depression etc. had more spine and self reliance than the people of today that want everything handed to them - by that account and listing to people today - they have no stomach for the contest for freedom and have no idea what it truly is. Alex - I will take "Reading comprehension for 300 please" My statement was and expansion of a though that should be be under an attack by a well orchestrated determined and trained foe - the vast majority of people today would be worthless in the contest - they are too soft - but whatever. Alex - I will take " My head is in my ass for 400 please " http://www.empcommission.org/ Reading and the truth shall set you free - If I have to explain EMP's and how viable they are and in most major military powers doctrine - well I would be wasting valuable time this Sunday. Suffice it to say it is proven, it is possible, and they are devastating. Alex - I will take " Dumbassery for 600 please" The extent that which 911 was executed is not what I am speaking about - and if built upon and had more planning and a larger footprint, well I stand by my statement. They were looking for shock and awe and got it. A small group of people - deliberate, funded, trained to a degree and the where with all to strike in places that are not hardened - can and will cause this country to be paralyzed. Last i check some folks in a place some call the sanbox held off the soviets and have a darn good job of humbling us as well. I see no reason to not believe the same type of tactics used in metro centers of the US could not paralyze us. Let's see and make a list shall we: * Start some forest fires - check * "Attack" power stations - check * "Attack" water supplies - check * "Attack" bridges tunnels and transport centers - check * "Attack" some school buses and kill occupants - check * "Attack" some schools - you heard of Beslan right? - Check We do not have the manpower to prevent - hold or otherwise respond to well timed multi area attacks - the Police and agencies we have are on a minimal staffing as it is - just look at this fire - now imagine it 10 fold..... chaos.... @Smokin .50 That we are and in that light I am out - with this post........its fruitless - however that same attitude above is was caused chaos at this fire and a lack of due diligence in preparation - no one thought about it, no one planned for it - thus it ended the way it did. :)

Is this to make money? Or to establish a skill few have? I have to laugh at current gunsmith trends. I learned how to cerakote at about the cost to do a single firearm, and I learned how to stipple at a fraction the cost. Anyone who can focus on learning a new skill can do these things quickly. A lot of these "upgrades" for guns like Zev products, are marginal upgrades. In some cases the are even problematic with compatability.. they are not "custom" imo. On the other hand creating a firearm from the ground up is entirely different, but lets also consider it would take years to make a name for yourself to get enough customers to make $. I'm limited in knowledge, but a bolt gun not only gives you incredible diversity, but it should be much easier to complete to desired tolerances. Aside from turning out a long barrel which is probably the hardest part. The other issue is whether or not your machines are capable of the tolerances you seek.

Gosh, this is gonna sound weird since I am a revolver guy at the heart BUT the future in gunsmithing isn't metal and aluminum. It's polymer and refinishing. Stippling, slide work, trigger work, sights, cerakoat, duracoat, and whatever else this new generation of shooters want on their wizbang 9mm guns. Learn those and watch the dough flow.

M1917... I might consider another .45 ACP S&W, either the Brazilian M1937 or a commercial model, if there isn’t a decent M1917 at a decent price. Was considering a Colt, but with the grip and most Colt collectors suggesting to stick with S&W... it will have to be an awesome deal and somehow fit my hand. N-frames... I know fit well. Wanted one for a while, maybe after Fury. But want to keep it US military for historical value. Plus, I feel it would be a cool carry gun on days like Independence or Memorial Day.

I visited the Ft. Myers gun show today and tasted freedom. I walked from booth to booth looking at everything from firearms to parts to cleaning equipment, Ammo, safes, and clothing. Even CC classes were being offered. Two and a half hours went by in the blink of an eye. I walked outside to get something to eat and people watch. I watched men an women young and old walking around with all types of rifles and firearms. I could't help but think about home and how our politicians have brainwashed the public. I looked at those many people and didn't see not a hint of a problem. I felt safe there. On the way home I passed by all the advertisements for the show. Freedom sure did taste good. Well for a little longer anyway.

I dare you to find anyone whom was prosecuted JUST for having hollow points in the car. Hollow Points are an add on crime, but you are not going to be prosecuted for simply being pulled over and there are hollow points in the car. Hollow points are an issue IF you do something else wrong, i.e. murder with hollow points, or High Capacity Mags + Hollow Points... (i.e. Aitken case).

I have quite a few 1911's at all price points - from a GSG .22, RIA, Dan Wesson Valor and a Colt Novak custom build. One of my favorite shooters is the Rock Island Tactical in 9mm. I think I paid $400 for it used. Check the used guns at your favorite LGS. There are lots of deals out there if you look hard enough.

Everything here is absolutely correct. The fake news process has become a toxic pollution to our society. So what is the solution? How do we as a country reverse this course? It didn't happen overnight and it can't be fixed overnight, but what is the outline to get back to a media system that presents facts without biased opinions, false claims and edited videos and let's people come to their own conclusion? I know a lot of people who distrust the media and can identify the same faults with the journalism process that were identified in this blog. What is the next step? Is there an organization that supports the 1st amendment like the NRA or ANJRPC supports and advocates for the 2nd amendment?

Great article and spot on. I believe it will be the FAKE media that will be leading the country into the next Civil War. The primary reason for such a huge divide in the country is due to the inaccurate reporting by the media, and they are never held to account when publishing total lies. This situation with the teenagers is just another example. ALL the Liberal media as well as Dem politicians, Liberal Hollywood, etc. all jumped on this FAKE story to excoriate the teen, when in fact, he was totally innocent. The comments people posted on social media were totally disgusting. At some point, the Liberal media will Dox the wrong person/group, and that's when the shooting will start....
