Like others have said..... If you cannot have an adult conversation about gun safety and come to a valid compromise, then your issues go much further than the firearms..... My wife married a car nut..... she knew it, and embraced it...... when I spend big dollars on a upgrade or repair, she does not say a word... I got back into guns after we got married...... she does NOT like guns, we talked, and I calmed her fears, and made sure she was comfortable on how I handled this hobby. Thats what marriage is ...... respect by both parties......

Men marry women hoping they will never change. Women marry men with the intent to change them. If you owned guns before you got married, then she married a gun owner. If she no longer trusts you to own guns and deems you too irresponsible, then your marriage is doomed. Buy a safe, lock up the guns and let that be that. If she presses the issue and says to you... "You decided guns are more important than me". Say, "no dear, you decided you cannot trust me, if you cannot trust me to protect you and our family, we don't have a marriage". It's that simple.

NJ should take a lesson from Brazil's new approach to stopping gun violence. To combat this huge problem they are rolling back many gun laws, yes your read this correctly. Finally some sane government actions: Bolsonaro Further Eases Brazilians’ Access to Guns New rules boost access to foreign-made firearms and ammunition and raise limits on how much ammunition a gun owner can purchase Lawmakers made finger-gun hand gestures as Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro signed a decree on Tuesday night in Brasília that further eased gun restrictions. PHOTO: ERALDO PERES/ASSOCIATED PRESS By Paulo Trevisani May 8, 2019 3:46 p.m. ET BRASÍLIA—New rules relaxing gun-control laws took effect in Brazil on Wednesday, boosting access to foreign-made firearms and ammunition, raising limits on how much ammunition a gun owner can purchase and letting gun enthusiasts carry loaded weapons to shooting clubs. “Public safety begins at home,” President Jair Bolsonaro said at a decree-signing ceremony here on Tuesday night. Celebrating before photographers, the far-right president and lawmakers simulated the finger-gun gesture he used in last year’s presidential campaign. The controversial measures were part of Mr. Bolsanaro’s ongoing campaign to end an epidemic of homicides by loosening gun laws in a country that recorded nearly 64,000 gun deaths in 2017, more than any other country. Mr. Bolsonaro’s measures allow hunters, collectors and sports shooters to transport ammunition in their firearms, which had earlier been prohibited. The rules loosen once-tightly restricted ammunition purchases, raising the annual limit from 50 to 5,000 cartridges for many types of guns. And they end import restrictions on foreign-made weaponry that were banned here if a Brazilian company made a similar product. Gun enthusiasts and gun shops celebrated the measures, which drove up shares of Taurus SA, a Brazilian gun maker. “Unarmed Brazilians are at the mercy of criminals,” said Mario Chimanovitch, 73. A long-time shooting enthusiast from São Paulo, Mr. Chimanovitch said he was always afraid of robbers when going to the shooting range with his .380-caliber Glock automatic pistol unloaded. “Now if they attack me, I will fill them full of lead.” Critics of loosening gun restrictions say the widespread presence of guns in Brazilian households risks further empowering criminals. Most guns used by criminals in Brazil had been held legally only to be stolen or otherwise smuggled to gangs. “More guns in the hands of civilians mean more guns available for criminals,” said Rafael Alcadipani, an expert in urban crime at the Getúlio Vargas Foundation in São Paulo. “This type of legislation is a shot in the foot for Brazil.” In January, Mr. Bolsonaro’s government eased gun-buying restrictions on Brazilians living in rural areas or regions with high homicide rates, as well as business owners. Mr. Bolsanaro’s campaign is already having an impact in an industry that has been at a near standstill for years. “Sales are going through the roof,” said Welker Costa, owner of a gun shop in Brasília as he read the latest decree’s more than 11,000 words to understand the changes. “Consumers are getting their permits faster and buying more.” Mr. Costa said that since a 2003 law imposed strict rules for gun ownership, he sold only half a dozen weapons per year and had to diversify his business into sports equipment and camping gear. But with the new administration dismantling regulations, his customers take no longer than 30 days to get their gun-ownership permit from federal authorities. People want to buy even though prices start at about $1,000 for a gun, a price tag beyond the reach of most Brazilians. A former army captain, Mr. Bolsonaro was elected last year on a law-and-order platform that included pledges to make it easier for police to kill suspected criminals. Polls show Brazilians are increasingly warming to the idea of permitting easy access to guns. About eight of every 100 Brazilian civilians possess a firearm, according to estimates by the Small Arms Survey, a Geneva-based research group, fewer than in most other Latin American countries. Citizens also have little confidence that police will solve crimes or ensure their safety, polls show, in a country where less than 10% of crimes are solved. Fabrício Rebelo, a researcher at the public-safety think tank Cepedes, said easing access to guns could have a positive impact in the fight against crime. “Brazilian criminals tend to take advantage of impunity and of their certainty that there will be no reaction,” he said. “This decree helps ensure the right to self-defense.” Write to Paulo Trevisani at [email protected]

It seems that I have been buying revolvers at a prodigious rate. At this point I won,t be able to pick-up my latest acquisition until the first week in July. Even though it's not in hand yet, I thought I'd share it with you... It is a full custom S&W 65-5 with a 3" barrel. It was done by Mike LaRocca of LGW (LaRocca Gun Works) out of Worcester, MA. Mike was Frank Pachmayr's lead gunsmith for years and, literally, wrote the book on building Combat .45's. He went out on his own in the mid-80's and this is an example of his work. It includes a complete refinish with certain parts accented in high polish; A bobbed hammer; A radiused and smoothed trigger; A recontour of the front sight and an anti-glare treatment on the barrel rib; A full action job; A "melted" cylinder release and other enhancements. Even the base gun is a rather unique piece. I believe that this started life as a Lady Smith, because they were the only fixed sight, K-frame .357 Mag with a 3" barrel and an ejector rod housing. The "Lady Smith" moniker was polished off during the refinish. Three inch K-frames are among the most desirable carry revolvers extant, because the slightly longer barrel allows for a full-length ejector rod to fully extract the long .357 cases and the K-frame gives you 6-shot capability. Watch for my post in this section during the first week of June. I'll be featuring some rather unique S&W revolvers. Adios, Pizza Bob

In an effort to be helpful. What kind of advice are you looking for? Some general advice: Make sure he does his homework on the job he wants to do. Is it garunteed? What happens if he doesnt pass the tests to meet that job? Does he get reclassified? The military is a great place to learn a skill and network with some amazing people. What are his goals? Does he plan on going to college eventually and plan to use the military to assist in that goal? Does he want to use the military to gain experience and do something similar in the civilian world? These are all things I used to tell my junior Marines to consider with life after the Corps, just in case the military career is not for them. I hear too often about people who join to serve, with no plan after enlistment then they get out and find their skills of slaying bodies not as marketable outside of law enforcement and security.

Also keep in mind something I've said before. The ultimate purpose of the military is to kill people and break things or support those that do. Delta, Special Forces, and Rangers all need support elements consisting of cooks, supply types, and clerks that take care of things. Don't dismiss what many refer to as the "ash and trash". They are the ones making sure the Special Operator gets fed, supplied, and paid. They make a significant contribution. The SEALS who killed Osama Bin Laden would never have gotten there if it wasn't for some fuel truck driver filling the tanks on the helicopters.

This is what I would propose to her. They are DOUBLE locked in this situation... If she still won't agree, you have two options, but the first option gets really expensive with the divorce lawyer. So, I suggest the second option, grow a pair and stop letting her wear the pants in the family. As I mentioned in past posts, my wife absolutely doesn't like my hobby either, and wants nothing to do with my firearms. She, on occassion, gets on some sort of "safety" kick because of how I keep some items in the ready. But at the end of the day, I basically told her that it's my hobby, and to close her pie hole. Sometimes being "direct" can clear the air, and she realizes that it's unfair to impose her likes/dislikes on me, and I have the right to participate in the hobby of my choosing, not hers....

Outside storage is legal but will eventually cost you more than the guns are worth. Peel's suggestion is your best option. Good luck.

When you’re dealing with a woman... in this case, a pregnant woman. All rationale, logic and reasoning are as realistic as a unicorn being ridden by Helen Keller and while shooting a Phaser Rifle while battling Klingons and Dragons while trying to get to Never Never Land and Mordor so you can sit on the Iron Throne in King’s Landing

Well, I assume she has a working brain... but is she rational enough to respond to facts? If so, print out local police blotters from the newspaper, and crime stats from NJ State Police website... (pepper that with a few chilling home invasion/DGU cases)... and compare that to accidental gun deaths for the same general locale. The odds are self-evident. Obviously, no one wants bad things to befall ANY household. But, the numbers are the numbers. Your chances of a break-in or some other life-threatening crime (even if the odds are slim) are still far, far higher statistically than the odds of an accidental shooting. If that doesn't convince her, suggest that you will BOTH participate in the household's gun safety regime. Pick the combo # together, set up a strict protocol, perhaps enlist her to do a quick check of the gun safe after you lock up when returning from range, etc. Make it a team effort... instead of "me against you". Locking horns NEVER works!

It’s possible that PK90 was suggesting storing your kids in the gun safe. It’s the only way to protect them from those 1 in gajillion scenarios. Otherwise, I’d tell your wife that the absolute best you can do is keep individual gun locks on all of the guns you keep locked in the safe. It’s overkill, but would reduce the risk to (1 in gajillion)^2.

This calls for extreme measures. Hire someone to break into your house, tie up your wife, threaten to kill her, and steal something. Then let us know how she feels. Just kidding of course.

I pass through there occasionally on business There are frequent trains from Schipol airport Amsterdam to Central station Amsterdam, about 25 min. You can walk much of the city from Central Station, including everything I describe below. Definitely do one of the many Canal boat tours, most leaving from in front of central station. About 90 minutes; save it for after your feet are tired. Depending on the age of the kids, the Rijksmuseum is one of the world’s best, the Rembrandt house and museum is interesting, and I’ve never managed to get into the Anne Frank House. Tickets go on sale online (only) each day and are generally gone before the house opens for the day. There are a number of historic churches, though I’ve only seen them from the outside. I’m told the nearby (20 min by train) town of Haarlem is also worth a visit, for the architecture surrounding the town square. The city is safe, at least the parts I’ve been to. Your biggest fear will be getting run over by cyclists. Even the red light district is safe, thronged as it is with gaping tourists, but it’s probably not worth having to explain to the kids why all the windows have scantily-clad women in them. Chocolate, cheese, and tulips are the popular bring-backs, with the airport having shops selling USDA-inspected bags of bulbs you can bring right through customs. But if you have deer, they’ll be eaten the moment the first shoots emerge in the spring. Have fun!

2-3 days max in Amsterdam with kids is plenty. Take the high speed train to Brussels for a day, Bruges for a day and then you can head into Paris or London on the same high speed train. If going the other way towards Germany, lots of cool little towns along the Rhine you can see with a rental car.
