This ^^^^ I'm dumbfounded by the posters who think this will be simply a ruling on about to transport a firearm in NYC and have it apply only in the narrowest way. SCOTUS gets hundreds of not thousands of cases in front of them to choose, why would they choose a case like this if to only help out NYC firearms owners??? It makes no sense. In pretty sure this is to establish level of scrutiny precedent for all the lower kangaroo courts in the land.

In your house you "can" do whatever you want (but if you have kids in the house you're stupid to do it IMO). "Should" you do it is a different question. I prefer to keep a low profile and don't display any firearms/firearms related stuff in the areas of the house that a visitor/casual guest would be. My friends and family are aware that I shoot, and if you're invited further into the home (particularly the man cave) you may notice reloading supplies, cases, etc, but never any firearms. It's nobody's business what I have or how much I have, so i choose not to display things. I also don't want to advertise to mailmen, delivery people, solicitors, plumbers, electricians, etc that there are firearms around for them to steal when I'm not home.

There is no law against what you propose. At the moment there is no specific storage law in NJ other than making sure children never have access. I suggest however that you consider that NJ is a gun hostile environment. Who will be able to see your 'display', either from inside or outside your house? Do you really want each and every one of those potential viewers to know what you have? And possible subsequent access? Also, I would not leave it on display anytime I was out of the house. Then it would be locked up. I'm sure you're proud of your acquisition and would like to show it off. Balance that against the other risks it involves. As for me, I once had the need to 'display'. But it passed quickly, as it did with other personal items.

No he's saying that if you switch, make sure your new part is in hand so you can swap immediately. Dont be taking the gun out in public in unfinished form, or have it laying around in unfinished form in the rare event the police raid your home.

Well for starters, AVB, those children are products of a predominantly Leftist society that controls the discourse, the media, and effects things like the family structure and socio-economic mobility and opportunity, etc. When a society creates a feel-good, all-students-left-behind (due to Government interference), no personal responbility environment (the gun is the problem), and then tells children that everyone deserves this and that and then these children grow up as entitled, and then they see that the actual world, economics, and such doesn't match the world view that they have been spoon-fed from infancy, and then couple all of that largely "progressive-ladened" baggage with excessive violence in the media and video games, and a inbred lack of concentration and attention span, also caused in part by all of the toxins ingested in the body through medications and actual food, and you might perceive an unhealthy younger population. And even with all of that crap our children have to contend with, a majority of them still turn out to be functioning individuals in our society. Lastly, there is a deep loneliness among the youth that are caught up so much with their electronic gadgets that a sense of humanity and reality is missing from them. A very small percentage are unable to cope and go on to do horrific things, and many of them are involved with drugs and illegal activities as a means of further coping. The grand all-encompassing and benign state that you buy into is not the answer. Humans need family and humans need a higher sense of purpose (religion?) to guide them in their actions. The government should not be the safety net in our socieity. The PEOPLE in communities should be that safety net for those that truly need it. Ronald Reagan grew as a person and learned this lesson moving away from progressivism to a more sustainable and beneficial conservativism that learns from past mistakes. it's time for you to blossom, AVB. Here is a quote from pop culture.. Search your feelings... you can't do this. I feel the conflict within you. Let go of your hate. We have to teach our youth through strong family and community example to be strong, resourceful, and compassionate. Nobody owes you anything, and life is not fair. And, the government is NOT The answer. This progressive nonsense has been going on for the last 50 years or more and does not work. Things are NOT better. Joe Biden's government is not the answer.

No. The main issue about the 2A in this case is the lower courts upholding this law. They claimed to have applied intermediate scrutiny but used a rational basis instead. Their rational basis was a joke, being such it's clear to SCOTUS that there is a rebellion in the lower courts. I feel to correct this SCOTUS will issue strict scrutiny. As far as the voluntary cessation issue, i feel this could become a landmark case. NYS and NYC messed up badly.

This case may get a split ruling. Mootness is a key element here, and plays a much bigger role than most think. I feel mootness may get a unanimous verdict, and they would split on the 2A. This will become a landmark case against the government, with the mootness opinion written by RBG. Voluntary cessation is the cause of this case reaching where it did I think, the court is aware of the games NYS and NYC were/are playing. Just my opinion

Thanks for bringing it up. Yep, most definitely someone trying to scam. It is user @Tkay and he messaged 3 others who had WTB posts. Profile claims to be from Colorado, but accessed the site from Africa and France. Registered 2 hours ago. If it smells funny, bring it up. And also pay attention to someone's Feedback rating which is right there front and center to see if they had any other deals here. And if you are still unsure, feel free to ask me or any of the mods.

I’ve seen mostly all of them at city gardens from about 1984 to 1989. Those were wild times. I even toured with mdc and the big thing from the philly area. Lived with the mentors for about a week. To be young again.

I think the biggest problem with all of this debate is the data being used is flawed.. or at least biased to how certain groups want to perceive it. the BS of mass shootings defined as 3 or more fatalities... or this data set over here is defined as 4 or more not including the shooter... blah blah. BS If the study doesn't include non fatalities, only considers public spaces... and doesn't include drug or gang related violence, which none of them seem to do.... then the data is tainted when being used to talk about shootings and gun violence in America. Take away private property shootings, where most gang related and drug shootings occur, take away gang drive-by and turf wars and only counting the ones with higher fatalities, or fatalities at all, paints a completely different picture. Include it all and your "Since 1982, 54% of mass shootings, (in which 3 or more fatalities were reported), were committed by white men" data point would go up in smoke, big time. It would probably be closer to 95% of all shooters are black if you considered all of the data points. Even the Stanford definition, which I think does a better job than mother jones, includes shootings even if they are non necessarily fatal, yet they still exclude anything gang, drug or organized crime related shootings. "The definition of mass shooting used for the Stanford database is 3 or more shooting victims (not necessarily fatalities), not including the shooter. The shooting must not be identifiably gang, drug, or organized crime related." Why do they do this ... because most folks are desensitized to black drug/gang related violence, especially when the info or data comes from places like Chicago. It doesn't help their narrative so therefore is not included. Throw in non-fatal, drug/gang related firearm shootings/statistics... and the % for scary black "assault rifles" being used in shootings, wouldn't even be enough to register on the pie charts. But that wouldn't help the so called "assault weapon" case now would it. Every time I see a newscast or read an article that starts talking about mass shooting statistics from one source or another it makes me want to vomit, because I know whats to follow is going to be a load of horse shit.

18 years to get redressed. That's what's infuriating with "let them pass the law, the courts will strike it down" attitude. Perhaps they will, perhaps they won't. Regardless, how long will it take an how many people got convicted under that law waiting for the courts to strike it down?

It was my understanding that double edge blades were flat out illegal in NJ?
  25. 1 point
What your not understanding is....interpretation. To @PK90 point, technically yes own carry... now you want to argue with barney fife as to why your carrying a dagger? He doesn't know the law, he might arrest you and then let the DA figure it out Now do you want to try to convince the sheep in NJ what your lawful purpose is for carrying a double edged fighting dagger ? My post should have had more info and judicious use of quote marks. I own one, well some, one i carry is the Gerber applegate folder SINGLE EDGE. In the woods and trails, kabar SINGLE EDGE Attempting to establish lawful use of a dedicated fighting knife, to those that are less than plugged in, is well silly. Yes this is life in nj
