For crying out loud, would you guys let up on the noobs already. Take your lithium pills, check your tin foil hats and chill out for corn sake, every new member is not a minion of Murphy. You are creating a bad atmosphere for new members. It does not matter what the questions asked here are. As long as they are answered without giving bad (illegal) advise, there is no problem. We, the experienced and knowledgeable, should be helping in a positive manner. Calling out almost every new member as a troll is just plain stupid and not helpful to the 2A community image.

Any more than that and you'll go blind.

I’m afraid you misunderstand what I mean when I said the Strike Eagle was “A little much for a brand new shooter”. I was not referring to price being a bit much. I was referring to the actual optic being a bit much - with its parallax, eye relief/eyebox requirements, the busy reticle, and the magnification. As a new shooter, you will be much better served shooting with a plain RDS. It will let you concentrate on the fundamentals - sights and trigger - without getting distracted by unnecessary bells and whistles that won’t help you.

I’m a real person, not trying to troll anyone. My original post was a legit question I had and I wasn’t sure who to ask, which is what led me here. Sorry, I just like to be funny sometimes. Thank you raz-0 and 10X for your replies. I appreciate the help. If I bothered or offended anybody, my apologies.

God Bless the NJ Division of Taxation! We get this story a day ago on Fox News/Hannity that the NJ Division of Taxation will require any pumpkin sold for "decorative purposes," and not intended to be eaten, be subject to Sales tax... as it is not considered a "food" item... Boy am I glad I got out! https://hannity.com/media-room/tax-everything-new-jersey-government-confirms-decorative-pumpkins-now-subject-to-taxation/

I have a 1-6 Strike Eagle. It’s OK. A little much for a brand new shooter. For a self described “noob”, I would recommend a standard red dot sight (RDS). With your price range around $400 I would suggest either an Aimpoint PRO or a Trijicon MRO - whichever one gives you a cleaner dot. They are the current standard for affordable red dot sights. If you want to spend less, but still have a quality optic, I recommend one of the Holosun optics that look like an Aimpoint T1 or T2 such as the HS503R.

Pretty much.. in the case where a OMAG is denied by Nics you will get a phone call and a talking to from the NJSP... legally you did not break any laws since you did not take the gun... In the case where the nics war approved i doubt the NJSP would even call since it was not flagged as a denial... i would not worry to much about it.... If he took the gun he would get a visit once the NJSP entered the permits into the system.

I find it somewhat ironic (but probably to be expected) that NJ makes the FPID and P2P process easier with the FARS system, and then removes the ORI listing from the Internet. If you search for ORI you'll get a page to come up that says "Error Code 404". OK, here's the trick - the ORI code is simply the municipal code inserted into this format: NJ0XXXX00 Municipal codes can be found here, listed by county... https://www.state.nj.us/treasury/taxation/pdf/lpt/cntycode.pdf Adios, Pizza Bob

This is a great point. And frankly, aren't there an estimated 80-100M gun owners in the country? And yet, the last I heard, the NRA had only... 5M+ members? Can you imagine if they had 25M members? Damn! And, can you imagine if they - on occasion - did campaigns that were coordinated with and even promoted by the other pro-2A groups (like GOA) ...instead of them bickering with each other as is most often the case? You see these other groups on the gun control side being all lovey-dovey and uber-cooperative with each other... we need to be doing the SAME thing! I truly think part of the problem is mindset. The whole act of being a gun owner requires a certain element of self-reliance/independence - although those are arguably good traits, I think those same traits sometimes interfere with being a "good follower", because good followers need to be compliant. This presents challenges from a social organizing perspective, I think, for the pro-2A side.

So, I did a little reading on firewood, this is what I found to be the general consensus among those who use firewood as their primary fuel source. There are some woods and plants you should never burn indoors. Softwoods, ie evergreens, conifers and soft deciduous like Larch. They burn too fast and produce excessive smoke containing soot and creosote that can cause chimney fires. Softwood may be burned outdoors in open pits for heat but should not be cooked over. Under any circumstance, do not burn pressure treated lumber, any plant or tree that has the word poison in it's name, poisonous plants that don't have poison in it's name, like foxglove or oleander. Driftwood contains a surprising amount of toxins. Rotted wood will off-gas mold, mildew and bacterial toxins. Green wood, aka unseasoned firewood, contains a lot of water and sap. It will not burn efficiently, the fire will not get hot enough to produce complete combustion. The byproduct of incomplete combustion is excessive soot and smoke. Green wood will also hiss, snap, crackle and pop more, increasing the risk of throwing glowing embers out of the fire. Firewood should be seasoned for a minimum of six to nine months. The best time to split wood is during winter months when the air is driest. Logs split in humid seasons will retain, or even absorb moisture and are prone to fungus and mold growth. The ideal length for logs is 18 inches, and logs greater than 12 inches in diameter should be split into pieces no smaller than 4 inches in diameter. Larger logs are cut and split so that they will fit into a stove, fireplace or pit. The length and diameter of split wood is subjective and dependent on the application. Some degree of uniformity in length and diameter helps with regulating burn rate. Processed firewood is typically 4-6 inches in diameter. Fatter logs may be used for longer overnight burns, conversely, thinner logs are used to make a very hot fire for boilers and other high heat applications such as blacksmithing. Now, the question of the day; To split, or not to split? Un-split logs are known as "rounds". Depending on the size of a fireplace or fire box door, rounds may be as wide as 12" in diameter. Rounds have less surface area, so they do not burn as fast. Rounds in the 4 to 6 inch range are generally preferred over split wood in the same size range. Whether or not to split an 8-12 inch round is a matter of preference.

What if you decide to do both? Would that be taxed at half the going rate? Has a law been passed that assault pumpkins fired from pumpkin guns are expressly prohibited by the state? It is probably also against the law to toilet paper Murphy's house even though there is a big pile of leftist crap there.

The only way two NICS checks would be approved two weeks apart would be if a LEO exemption was claimed or one of the NICS checks was put in as a long gun only (despite being for a handgun). The computer tells the people who work at NICS whether or not to approve a NICS check with regard to the OGAM statute, they have no control over it. It seems there is a lot wrong in this scenario. NICS checks cannot be run before a 4473 is filled out and signed by the recipient and the type of firearm would have to have been incorrectly reported.

I think you guys that think this is going to take 20 years or more are kidding yourselves. It is going to happen a lot faster than that. Electric cars are much cheaper to produce and maintain. There are a tiny number of parts compared to an ICE or hybrid. Hybrids are actually the worst of both worlds, and I am not a hybrid detractor having owned three of them. But think about it, they are probably one of the most complicated forms of propulsion out there effectively combining and ICE with an electric and having lots of technology to make the two work together. Very expensive to build. I have a friend that has a new Tesla, not the model3, one that costs around $80,000. She can get about 300 miles out of it and when she goes to one of the charging stations on the highway charges it in about 20 minutes. Sure it is longer than a fuel up, and less places to fill up right now - but that will change. Yes, Tesla will likely not exist in 2-5 years, either they will fail or someone will buy them. It is just a matter of time till one of the big auto makers takes over this market. As for trucks and big SUV's, well electric makes more sense and will actually work better in them. Think about how they have to get inventive cramming batteries into small cars, at big pickup has lots of room to put batteries. Just think if they increased the height of a truck by say 3" they could come up with a battery pack that fit in the bed of a truck (or under it). That would be a huge battery without taking up needed space. Yes a lot will change with these vehicles, but anytime you introduce new technology it takes a while for the bugs to be worked out, the infrastructure developed and the early adopters to work out the bugs. We are nearing the inflection point where EV is set to take off.

I happened to link one article that I could remember and find quickly. If you do your own research, go look for taxi companies that have published usage data on Teslas they own and use in their fleet. I can't find that article (yet) but the results were Teslas had fewer per mile vehicle issues than ICE vehicles. IIRC, they had one vehicle have an "infant mortality" problem with its battery pack, and several others that were medium/long miles before pack degradation/replacement, and many more that were very long miles. But you go do you.
