3 pointsI don't think i'm willing to give them that any more than i'm willing to let them blame violence on tv. if anything, it's lack of parenting. I mean, c'mon. we all grew up with violent tv. we grew up with fistfights, playing football with no safety gear in the field, etc./……..yet we didn't go walking into school and shoot our friends..... exactly. so easy a caveman could do it.

2 pointsSo California has the toughest gun laws in the nation and has the highest number of mass shootings by far. Not working out quite the way they planned! Want to know why their tough gun laws are not working BECAUSE IT'S NOT ABOUT THE GUNS!

1 pointNot quite... "other" is merely a category created by ATF that defines firearms that don't fit the existing criteria of "long gun", pistol or AOW. The way Franklin Armory went about it at first was to do a smoothbore gun... thus, no rifled barrel and thus not a rifle. Troy and others went a different route, by manufacturing a firearm that was designed to "be fired with two hands"... hence the vertical fore grip and the pistol brace, and not a stock. And as long as the over all length on these is over 26", it is an "other firearm" rather than "any other firearm" which requires a $5 tax stamp and generally not kosher in the New Jersey. Hope that helps.

1 pointSpoke with Dr Pirelli. Really knows his stuff. Thanks for the recommendation. I’ll be seeing him in a few weeks. Agreed that a lawyer would need the letter anyway so Dr. first. I’ll keep all y’all updated. thanks again.

1 pointThe Docket was updated on 11/15/2019 and also looks favorable to our side. The Solicitor General has voiced his opinion on "Mootness" and filed a brief to that effect: https://www.supremecourt.gov/docket/docketfiles/html/public/18-280.html

1 pointOnce the S. Ct. of Conn determined that the case could go forward and the U.S. Supreme Ct refused to grant cert that automatically establishes that a valid cause of action sufficient to justify further proceedings exists and under those circumstances legal fees cannot be recovered even if the plaintiffs are unsuccessful at trial.

1 pointslimy politicians and the that one guy gets a gov't post????? seriously, those guys should have gone to the press and said fk it
-
1 pointthey definitely had the side charger done afterward as they don't sell them in that configuration. I definitely want one of their lowers but no way will I pay 500+ for that
-
1 pointMaybe so but I'm sure Pirelli's bill will be substantially less than a lawyer. One could get a lawyer to represent them and the prosecutor's office will still say you need a letter from the doctor. Get the doctor's letter first. One thing at a time. If you wind up getting a lawyer the letter strengthens your case.

1 pointOh, I gotcha. I'm used to car forum guys using a low post count as a measure of like, value or credibility or something, as if you can't have a whole life before you join a forum lol. Didn't realize post 1 was actually post 0. Crap. I'm going to spend the next hour wondering if I'm even here.

1 pointThanks! It sure is interesting, I'm gonna have fun here. Pretty sure asking if it was serious implies an answer, but to clarify- Any food made of meat is best cooked over fire or steel grill. In times of desperation or laziness, foreman grill is passable. if nuclear option is called for, blowtorch.

1 pointYou are pretty much correct. There are different levels of criminal record checks. I'll call them administrative and criminal justice as different jurisdictions call them different things. Administrative is done by many prospective employers. If you've had an expungement you can say no and your employer gets shown a clean slate. A criminal justice inquiry is different. It's available only to and use by law enforcement and courts. Expungements may or may not show up on a criminal justice query. They apparently do in NJ. I'm guessing at the time line but it appears after his convictions for his disorderly persons offenses he managed to get in some branch of the military. He's lucky he did as those offenses will usually serve as a bar to enlistment. He still didn't clean up his act after the military. He got arrested for eluding and pulling a knife on the police. He's lucky he didn't get shot. Bringing a knife to a gunfight? These are both felony level charges. He pled guilty. This could very well be the reason he wasn't hired by the police department. A good choice by the chief IMO, expungement or no expungement. He's also playing the veteran's card. Being a veteran myself I can say this. The military is like anywhere else. There are scummy people everywhere with and without criminal records. I have no sympathy for this guy. We all were young and stupid at one time. Few of us ever pulled a knife on a cop.

1 pointWell, let's just skip to the real important parts (by some people here): Pork Roll or Taylor Ham? Barbecue Ribs or Boiled Ribs?

1 pointThe only time non-guested non-members are permitted is during public events. All events are posted on the calendar, the event would specify if it is members only or public. Even then, you can not see the indoor ranges without the fob to unlock the door. Not seeing the place ahead of time was a concern I had also. Turned out positive for me. As far as I know the outdoor ranges are open all year. Never seen or heard otherwise. Matches may be cancelled due to weather based on the Director's discretion. Correction: outdoor ranges are closed for one week in Dec for deer season. Indoor range is still open. Members are restricted to x number of guests at a time, each guest y number of times a year. Immediate family does not count. You have to sign in as a guest, stay with the member while there, and the member is responsible for you.

1 pointThe popularity, prevalence and over prescribing of SSRIs is a sad fact of life! Little billy tells mommy he's sad and depressed sometimes. Mommy takes him to the doctor who 9 times out of 10 will prescribe an SSRI instead of referring him to a Psychologist of Psychiatrist that is trained to handle these matters! I say take away the ability to prescribe SSRIs to those under 25 from family doctors and allow only Psychiatrists to dispense the drugs while closely monitoring their patients and advising the family of the potential effects and to keep weapons out of their hands until we know how they will react to the medication! The simple steps I outlined above would have a much greater effect on reducing these shootings than banning guns! Just think, years ago we did not have all these shootings but the guns were always there. What did change is the invention and widespread usage of many new Selective Serotonin re-uptake inhibitors. The idiots just need to wake up and realize it's not the damn guns that are causing the problem! Adam Lanza was known to be on SSRIs when he killed all those children. So let's just sue Remington!

1 pointI was hesitant to join (mostly over the cost) debated it for about two years before I did join. You can split the $600 capitol contribution fee into smaller payments. $300 up front, then $320 split into four payments over a year. They also pro-rate the yearly dues based on when you join. You can get credits for attending the meetings or being a member of approved work parties also. Some other clubs mandate work party participation, or you buy your way off. The range rules are posted on the website: https://cjrpc.org/page/Rules there's a downloadable pdf at the bottom. I'm coming up on my one year anniversary and I have never had to wait to shoot. They do close the indoor range for a couple of hours one night a week for cleaning; otherwise 24/7 as advertised. As mentioned previously the outdoor ranges are limited to mostly daylight hours to be good neighbors. The pits do have some steel targets set up that you can use. There are restrictions on what you can shoot in the pits though. Pistol, general and high power ranges have target stand holders set into the ground to hold your supplied stand. It is not an inexpensive club, but they do put money into the place and I do feel I get my money's worth. I'd be willing to show you around as well; although I'm not AS close as mjrfd99, nor do I get there as often.

1 point"The study led by Oxford University scientists and published in PLOS Medicine journal, found that young adults between the ages of 15 and 24 who had prescriptions for the drugs were significantly more likely to be convicted of a homicide, assault, robbery, arson, kidnapping, sexual offense or other violent crime when they were taking the medications than when they weren’t." The problem with SSRI drugs is that any family doctor or PA can prescribe them but DO NOT have the psychiatric training to know that patients under 25 require close supervision since it is impossible to know just how the drugs will effect any given patient! they may not admit it but I guarantee you that 90% of mass shootings by those under 25 involved the use of SSRI drugs! Guns were the easy tool but the cause is the drugs that are prescribed at the drop of a hat by practitioners who know not what they do!
