I have a 14kw Standby generator. I used to use portables. I helped the neighbors over the past few days with their generators. One had an electric start 6k generator. The battery turned over the generator about 3 times before it gave out. Moral of that story is to keep a tender on the battery or better yet, get a generator that includes a built-in battery tender that you plug in. One neighbor had a great manual transfer switch that allowed you to select circuits. Works great. The problem is that when we flipped the water heater on, the generator wasn't able to keep up with the load. Moral of that story, get a generator sized to your load. One neighbor had an umbilical, but hadn't gotten around to getting an interlock. We backfed through the dryer plug. This is a poor option, but in a pinch it'll do. You really need to get an interlock. At the very least, get a mechanical interlock that bolts onto your electrical panel the prevents both the Main and the genset breakers from being on at the same time. When I did the house addition on 2012, I horse traded with the wife. She wanted some things, I wanted the standby generator. I did much of the install myself. I poured a pad, dug the trenches and did some of the electric. It has been great. Oh and I bought the generator on Amazon

Its not even money...it has no backing...its just 'paper'...with a 'promise'.....

No, it's your money not the governments. You could burn it, give it away, destroy it, write on it, whatever.

Finally took the plunge today after much debating, procrastinating, stalling, and just being used to the norm. I've hesitated mainly because of needing MSG for Devils games. I finally found FuboTV which has MSG as part of their streaming service. A couple weeks back I did their 1 week free trial and for the most part I didn't miss Optimum TV at all. The sound is a bit lower and it's not a bright or white as cable TV. I experienced about 2 seconds of pixelation 3 times over the week. Today I called Optimum to cancel TV and phone service, and inquire about the best price they could give me for internet before I cancelled that too. I called their Jersey number and stated I wanted to cancel into the automated system. I got routed to an obvious Middle East call center. The first person I talked to kept putting me on hold claiming that she was trying to access my account. After about 10 minutes she said their systems were down and she can't access anything at this time. I immediately called back and just asked for billing, got routed to same call center, same person...hung up. I called back a third time and said I wanted to cancel, answered a couple other questions into their automated system and this time got routed to their retention center which is what I wanted. This time Juan answered and asked why I wanted to cancel. I explained I just found a better services that suited our needs. He came back with $78.50 for 100MBS, I asked if there was anything else he could do for a better price. I settled on $73.50 for 200MBS and keeping my home phone. Made it effective immediately, and Juan took care of everything right away without trying to harass me into keeping my TV service. So with taxes Optimum was costing me $245ish a month with nothing fancy. Now I will be at $66/mo for FuboTV and probably around $80 with taxes for my internet. All said and done I'll be saving just under $100 a month and not really missing out on anything that cable provided me.

For those of you who don't live in Sussex, Warren, Hunterdon or near the NY border, let me tell you it's a mess up here with the ice and snow. Early Monday AM JCP&L listed less than 2,000 customers without power. By Monday night it was up to around 15,000. Last night it was over 35,000. This afternoon around 3 PM the count was below twenty, and now at 4 PM it's back up to 23,600. My point is we're not out of the woods by any stretch, and we're expecting 30 mph winds tomorrow without significant melting ahead of time. The trees are still ice bound. JCP&L says the ETR is 11:30 PM tomorrow night. I think that's a crock. We lost power at 8:48 PM Sunday and got it back at 2:38 AM. Then down again at 1:31 PM Monday and back up at 8:24 PM. Down again at 11:18 PM, and up at 6:14 AM Tuesday. We've been up since then, but 70% of my township is still without power. Get the big picture here, if you haven't seen this before. I finally got out to Newton today and the roads are a mess. But the number of trees/bushes/vines still hanging on the electric, cable and phone wires was unbelievable! It's incredible that the utilities let all this growth really impede on the wire paths. No, I don't expect them to denude the county of trees, but a lot of what I saw would be prevented by a simple topping or pruning. Fortunately we have all disaster equipment in place and operating. Regardless, it's a pain in the ass! /RantOff/

    1) is the "state" holding your personal property. Just a tip. Stop calling your firearms weapons. Also, is it the state holding your property or is it a county prosecutor's office? 2) do you have any correspondence (letters, emails, record of phone call etc.) where someone officially denied you the return of your "personal property"? 3) did you also surrender your FPID?

No, but I got a $20 from a gas station last month that said "Not to be used for bribing politicians". Sadly like a dumb ass I spent it before taking a picture of it.

THAT is a demand letter? Did anyone at least proofread the letter before it was sent? I hope you didn't pay in advance.......because I wouldn't give his office a nickel for that letter.

Mr. Peel... https://pistol-forum.com/showthread.php?28087-The-PF-generator-thread There's also a generator thread here, IIRC. Finally, we could/should just have a shoot-n-lunch date and we can talk about this kind of stuff.

I'm sure anyone that' been there has bought those zip ties for flags. Another option is a whole roll of weed whacker string. Cut to lenght and put wire nuts on one end. Just make sure the wire nuts are large enough so they don't fall into the chamber. One more thing when the cease fire IS called. If you are fast going down range to swap targets etc then also take the empty mags off the table and keep some ammo in the trunk or car so you can load the mags while waiting for the others.....Yes also reverse into your spot to make it easier to unload and load too.

Here's what I have for backup water. We're pretty rural. We've lost electric for a week before and have had roads blocked by fallen trees after a derecho that kept us from getting more than a couple of miles from home -far from the nearest store. It took only 3 days that time to get out with neighbors helping each other to clear roads with their own trucks and chainsaws. We keep about a dozen gallon jugs of water in the house. We use bottled water so the "stock" is rotated regularly each time we go to the store for groceries. I have re-wired our well pump (no city water here) so that it is plug-connected instead of hard wired. I can use an extension cord to plug the well pump into our portable generator. Our generator can barely start our 1/2hp well pump so, when we're pumping water I can't use electric for much else. But that's not a big problem in an emergency. I don't need to watch TV when I'm in the shower anyway. I also re-wired our oil-fired furnace so it can be plugged into the generator too - sucks to loose heat in the winter. If we use up or 12 gallons of water and the generator quits on me or runs out of fuel, I have three 55 gallon plastic drums behind the shop with drinking water. They freeze every winter and the drums have never been damaged by freezing.

I'm confused. If his property was seized by the Monmouth County sheriff's department (as per the lawyer's letter), why is he seeking redress from the Mercer county prosecutor. Not too impressed with the lawyer's letter either. Adios, Pizza Bob

FYI: I think AT&T TV (formerly DirectTV Now) has MSG. Keep it in mind if you want to try something else. One benefit of the streaming services is you can try them for free without impacting each other.

I have the Costco version of this one, with 3 propane tanks. And a small window ac unit (no need for backup heat in FL). I can run the ac, fridge, internet and gaming pc for several days on this. Unplug the ac for the microwave when needed.

^^^^THIS!! The Chief Justice is nobody's fool. He would consider it a major slap in the face to the sanctity of the Court itself if motion for mootness was granted and then NYC decided to alter its' rules/laws right back to the "old ways" in a "GOTCHA" move. The Chief's job is to ensure utmost respect given to both the written word AND the intent of the USCON as a whole. Decisions don't get handed down in a vacuum. Instead, they're much like pieces of a puzzle that need fitted (interpreted) into the American landscape. ~R

"No one knows why a Justice asks a question or remains silent during oral argument. Justice Clarence Thomas asked his first question in three years back in March of 2019 ---that was after ten years of not asking any questions, from 2006 to 2016. I suggest not judging a Justice by his/her questions." ----Theresa Inacker, Former Editor of the Seton Hall Law School Constitutional Law Journal, member of the Supreme Court Bar Just because it doesn't come up in oral arguments has little meaning. The 9 Black Robes that sit at the scale weighing the overall minutia can use everything from life experience to ancient dissent in another case as a reason for their voting a certain way. Some of those 9 Black Robes like to make toast at their 2nd homes. Even RBG was quoted as saying: Why is having TWO guns in TWO houses better than just having ONE brought between them? Leaving the one at the empty house vulnerable to theft". There's more going on here than meets the eye. Second guessing the Supremes is often a fool's errand Rosey

Here's your answer: They granted CERT for this case because the NYC law that created this case tramples 3 or 4 Amendments, NOT just a single Amendment. Interstate Commerce Clause Transportation of tangible personal property both intrastate & interstate Restraint of Trade Second Amendment If you wanted to transport your toaster to make toast in Albany, you wouldn't risk arrest for a felony. In order for one to FULLY understand ALL the implications from this case, one must open one's mind and discover that all firearms really boil-down to is PROPERTY. A TOOL if you will. Wanna fix your toaster outside of the 5 Boroughs? Wanna sell your used toaster? Wanna inscribe "I love you" on a gift toaster? Wanna repair your toaster? Only 7 places to take it in the 5 Boroughs...and THAT ladies & gents is UNCONSTITUTIONAL by & of itself ~R

She doesn't have an extra can of soup in her house, but you're suggesting she goes and drinks water through a straw or filter at a local river? Really?
  32. 1 point
Your near the river just buy a few life straws or other portable water filter and your good to go

The buffer tube slides thru the castle nut and end plate so those pieces do not effect overall length.

LCD, LED LCD, local dimming LED LCD, QLED, then OLED from "worst" to best as a general rule. Do some research if possible, cheap TVs may have a TN panel vs an IPS panel. TN is good for fast motion at the expense of viewing angle, IPS tends to be better image quality but may not be as responsive to lots of motion, if my memory serves me right. I would at least do some research on TN vs IPS if looking at anything below QLED. Also look into refresh or motion rate. 60hz might be OK for some things and not others. I have a 60hz tv, i do wish it were higher but it works well enough for everything I do. OLED may have some longevity issues (some colors fade faster than others) depending on how heavily used they are, though probably not a huge issue. I see zero reason not to get 4k now, unless there is some specific reason (say 1080P OLED at super discounted price vs 4k LED LCD). Even if you don't have any 4k stuff yet, you might sometime soon. If you are a 1 device kind of person, see if the TV has smart features you care about, 90% probably do. I prefer different devices for specific things, so big big big deal for me was appropriate number of inputs - my tv has 4 hdmi inputs, and i woulda been even happier if it had 5+. Whatever TV you get, spend some time setting it up. I can't tell you the number of TVs i have looked at in someones house that looked terrible because the factory settings were just....wrong... A cheap TV set up right can look much better than you'd think.
