Not looking to argue at all just an observation ----- See this is the thing ------ When you use terms like that, 'YET'. That is what I cannot get over - there is always the push to incite, and sometimes imo, you are just as guilty of what you are accusing the media of doing, inciting a possible panic. Because I am fairly certain that no one this evening is going to be 'shot on site' and I am also pretty sure it is not going to happen tomorrow or next week either - but ya never know. The more pressing issue I think - it that you are a believer that this is quite possibly a hoax of some sort. While I think it has been blown out of proportion, you seem to think that it should be business as usual, and that does not seem to make sense to me. There is surely a public health event taking place, that has been turned into a major shit show, granted, but to ignore that there are more severe ramifications of doing nothing, than taking these extreme measures, cannot be understated. So, let's say there is a further 'lockdown' a la Italy, and let's say it is necessary, wouldn't this all be a small price to pay to saves lives and the nation as a whole? I would submit to you doing nothing has far more dire circumstances in pushing a people to a more dangerous outcome that what is being down now. Do I see a day where the NAT GUARD is going to be on the streets in certain areas? Yes, to assist police, and other emergency element to assist the nation in keeping people safe in so much as they can, not to mow them down. I am usually very pessimistic, but I see nothing but good things coming from all this once we get past this very very hard learned lesson. I see a resurgence in US manufacturing ! I see market forces brought to bear to Support that ! I see new opportunities in technology ! I see new opportunities in Health Care ! I see new opportunities in investment avenues to support the above ! I see that maybe *FINALLY* we can see the VALUE of our older generations and treat them with the respect they deserve in their later years, in lieu of being toss away humans !!! This is NOT the apocalypse, that would be a death rate of SARS/MERS at this level of transmissibility of this contagion - that would be apocalyptic - and stacking of bodies. Maybe just maybe this event, will be the impetus to finally get a vaccine in order to provide some protection for a future event.

https://www.cnn.com/2020/03/14/health/coronavirus-asymptomatic-spread/index.html If you want to read about asymptomatic transmission, read that article. Children are most likely to have no symptoms. Interestingly enough, the people without symptoms were shedding more virus than the ones with symptoms. Social distancing is the only thing that works.

https://www.aha.org/statistics/fast-facts-us-hospitals Total Staffed Beds in All U.S. Hospitals 924,107 For the cheap seats: AHA guestimate on Coronoavirus hospital admissions: 4.8 Million AHA reported total staffed hospital beds in all U.S. Hospitals: 924,107 So maybe, just maybe, it makes sense to slow down the rate of admissions as much as possible?

Tell him to go the nearest gun show and use the famous gun show loophole or tell him to order one from Budds and have it shipped to his house. And then tell him to GFH.

I just dont get the whole "the world is ending" hyperbole... Not to sound insensitive.. Worse case scenario... a bunch of old people die and clog up the healthcare system for a little while. We can quarantine for a little while to help flatten out the infection curve.. but there needs to be a realistic appropriate approach here, 99.99% of americas will be just fine even if the virus spreads.

My personal belief at this point is that this started here in 2019 and went unnoticed and that the number of infections is significantly greater than believed today.

It was actually RTSP in Union. I tried again this morning and no go! I then called the PD again and politely asked to expedite the new card. An hour later, I got the card fixed! Even though I didn't need it apparently...

Yes not being allowed to have patrons at your business is being closed. You think a call in order or 6 equals a dining room filled with patrons are the same thing? You think people go to a restaurant to just eat? People go to socialize and not have to worry about prep or cleanup. Would you like a appetizer? Any desserts tonight? Can I get you another drink? Guess what all those do? Cha ching. Money in the register, that pays the bis So yeah, forcing the doors closed is shutting them down. You can get off your high horse now.

It would eliminate the attendant breathing in my window at the beginning and end of every transaction. Also, I can easily sanitize my hands after touching the pump. The attendant isn't doing the same after dealing with each of the 1000 snot covered, ass picked hands he comes in contact with. Plus, I'm sick of NJ refusing to allow me to have access to cheaper self-serve gas.

I think we are all getting a bit off track - no one is getting shot onsite - no one is being welded into their homes - etc. It appears to me that some of the above posts, now are trending towards some kind of minor panic - leave that for the sheep. No going out after 8pm - I am 53 and I am up at 430 every day - I haven't been *OUT* after 8pm in years....... LMFAO I am usually in my pre-bed nap phase at 730 after Jeopardy prior to bed....

It seems like this should finally be the incentive needed to allow us to have cheaper, self serve gas in NJ. There's no more useless social interaction than having to go through an intermediary, who is also handling cash and charge cards from hundreds of other people a day, just to put gas in your car.

Better get your take out completed by 8PM, otherwise you'll be shot on sight if you're on the roads. It's called Incrementalism... One by one, our liberties and freedoms are being taken away, in the name of "Social Distancing", or "Flattening the Curve". And the "sheep", since they were fed the panic, will just go along with it, because we have 100 cases of Covid in the state of 9,000,000 people...

"The governors of New Jersey, New York and Connecticut, all Democrats, announced they would follow the CDC's guidelines and were critical of the Trump administration's response, saying it has fallen behind in its response to the fast-spreading virus. That means the three states' casinos, gyms, movie theaters, bars and restaurants would close at 8 p.m. Restaurants can only offer takeout services." I feel like ya need to take your own advice sometimes... read the whole artilce.

Makes sense actually. While ibuprofen seems like a good idea, the swelling is an important process of the immune system when dealing with an infection... it's not at all like an injury. Tylenol is just a painkiller and fever reducer, not an anti inflammatory. It's always been the go to med for flu with a fever. I havent seen the research on it, especially the flu, but there is a thought that a fever can reduce the severity and length of certain illness. It's a natural response to infection, and has evolved this way for a purpose. I just wouldn't let it got over 101 unchecked.

How about quarantining everyone over 65 and those younger with health risk factors? If those are the people primarily at risk, protect them. Steve Hilton asked the same question. Its a good question. Why are we shutting down the economies of every major country on earth when there appears to be a better way. The more people who are healthy that get this and become immune...spelled... v-a-c-c-i-n-a-t-e-d .... the fewer there will be to catch and transmit it next time. Or, we could just destroy the economy and commit 10s of millions of people to be wards of the state. or maybe thats the plan.

Eventually all that data will be researched when this thing is done and dusted. We have to assume based on these studies that it is transmitting asymptomatically and act appropriately. That people under 20 aren't showing symptoms? Why? We will know ultimately, as of now though? We have to assume they are all little pig pens spewing trillions of virii in their wake and trading it with each other like baseball cards. My prediction is that next week, as in on the 23, they are going to shut this thing down. It's going to come with NO NOTICE. Remember that. They learned a lesson in Italy. The people in the zone in Italy knew it was coming and FLED. This spread it all over the place. They are going to roll in and shut it down. boom. done. I was wrong a few days on the school thing, so it may come this week. Be ready

I really wish they taught math better. Here’s why: The R0 of the flu is ~1.3. With that we got 36 million cases. It has a mortality rate of about 0.095% that we wind up with 22,000 dead. This is not a bad year for the flu. COVID-19 has an R0 between 2.2-3.2 based on estimates to date. We will go with a popular consensus number out there 2.3. Mortality rate has varied between 1.48% (places in China where social distancing, etc were put in place early, after Wuhan showed it was bad) and 5% (Italy). Wuhan, which was an example of belated intervention is rocking a rate of a bit above 4%. Let’s go ten rounds of infection. I just did this math manually but I’ll probably write a script to do better numbers. flu = 42.73 infected covid-19= 7328.50 infected So.... a whole season without intervention you aren’t talking 36 million cases. It’s way bigger. And then it isn’t 22,000 dead. It is a rate 12-40x greater of that much bigger number. it is epically bad. But that 1.48% I mentioned earlier was the result of preventive measures reducing that R0 number and by association allowing for better medical care.

I used to do animal control for Union NJ, I've seen the worst of the worst when it comes to pits. I've even been bitten by one. So I've seen that side of them too You are absolutely correct in the fact that people buy them for status symbols and those are the inexperienced owners that I was referring to, they are the ones that cause the dogs to act aggressively usually due to a lack of training. I'm no fan of breed restrictions but sometimes I wish that people had to pass a test in order to own certain breeds of dogs.

Just as a point of reference, to go with all the panic hoarding, here's the current stats of the seasonal Flu versus the Covid as of yesterday: As a comparison, the seasonal Flu WORLDWIDE: There are reported to be some 1 billion influenza infections worldwide each year, with up to 45 million cases in the U.S. per year, tens of thousands of U.S. deaths, and 291,000 to 646,000 deaths worldwide. In the USA: CDC estimates that so far this season there have been at least 36 million flu illnesses, 370,000 hospitalizations and 22,000 deaths from flu. Now, the current Covid WORLDWIDE: Coronavirus had infected 128,392 people globally and killed 4,728 as of Friday morning, The U.S. had over 1,701 confirmed coronavirus cases and 40 deaths. So, for some reason, people don't worry about the seasonal flu, yet are running with their hair on fire with the Covid?

Not sure if I should spray it on a full ham as is, or carve off the meat and then spray? Obviously it works for sliced deli ham, but not sure about the large chunks. Any experience?

That is a blanket statement and I am sure applies to some, but not all. I have worked from home for the last 20+ years, it was my office and while I was and did go to project sites etc. I was never in an office with collegues. The past three years, I have been going to an office 3 days a week - guess what those three days are my least productive. It all depends on the person.....some can hack it - others cannot

Medical intervention runs from going to your regular doc and having him give you a good cough syrup, or tell you "yeah you have the flu, heres a letter for work, rest and drink lots of fluids". To hospitalizations, which will likely run in the ~100-200k. And yes the medical system can handle that. They do every year.

Ok... wait a minute. Italy averages 17,000 deaths per flu season due to the flu. These are their stats from 2014 to 2018. The research notes Italy has the highest mortality rate for flu in Europe. That’s an average of about ... 94 per day...... Higher in the peak times. Like.... now. Say... 180-200. Assuming flu season is 6 months. Versus 13 weeks as notes for some regions. Yet someone posted lengthy obituaries to point out the number of deaths from corona. So... do Italians not do obits for flu deaths?
