Technically, ammunition is an excellent commodity to keep on hand. As apposed to precious metals and paper money, ammunition will NEVER be worth zero.

Freeholders' pro-gun resolution reflects their understanding of history | Letter Letter to the editor Published 5:30 a.m. ET March 18, 2020 | Updated 10:22 a.m. ET March 18, 2020 Even as crime in the city goes down, the West Side of Asbury Park struggles with the heartbreak of gun violence. Asbury Park Press In passing a resolution declaring Monmouth County a "Second Amendment Lawful Gun Owner County.” what the freeholders object to are socialists trying undermine our freedoms and our way of life in America. Every “common-sense” gun law passed only affects legal gun owners. These laws do nothing to stop violence and criminals from committing crimes with guns. These socialists are blaming the law-abiding gun owners just to get votes and get elected. Maybe the freeholders know their history and have seen what socialism is capable of doing. Those who don’t know history are bound to repeat it. Gun rights: Monmouth, Ocean freeholders back Second Amendment resolutions Hitler’s political party forced Jews to register their firearms. They then confiscated them, leaving them defenseless Maybe that’s what the freeholders object to. Jim MacKenzie Millstone Jim Mackenzie, I hope you are on this forum!

Baltimore Mayor Begs Residents To Stop Shooting Each Other So Hospital Beds Can Be Used For Coronavirus Patients March 18, 2020 at 11:23 am BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Baltimore Mayor Jack Young urged residents to put down their guns and heed orders to stay home after multiple people were shot Tuesday night amidst the coronavirus pandemic. Young said hospital beds are needed to treat positive COVID-19 patients and not for senseless violence. Seven people were shot Tuesday night in the Madison Park neighborhood, as Baltimore reported its fifth positive coronavirus case Wednesday. “I want to reiterate how completely unacceptable the level of violence is that we have seen recently,” Young said. “We will not stand for mass shootings and an increase in crime.” “For those of you who want to continue to shoot and kill people of this city, we’re not going to tolerate it,” Young implored. “We’re going to come after you and we’re going to get you.” He urged people to put down their guns because “we cannot clog up our hospitals and their beds with people that are being shot senselessly because we’re going to need those beds for people infected with the coronavirus. And it could be your mother, your grandmother or one of your relatives. So take that into consideration.” Commissioner Michael Harrison said the city has seen an uptick in violent crimes since Friday, including a mass shooting Tuesday night — where seven people were shot. Five people were transported to area hospitals via medics and two took private cars to the hospitals for treatment. All seven are in serious but stable condition. Harrison said they are looking for a Silver Honda that was seen in the area. A city officer who was on patrol in that microzone did engage with a person who’s believed to be a suspect in the shooting as the man was fleeing the scene. The officer was not armed with the level of “deadly firepower” that the suspect had. The officer did fire his weapon, but Harrison said police don’t know if the officer struck the suspect. The officer sustained some minor injuries in the incident and was treated. The police department is increasing staffing in the areas where crime has increased. “This incident remains open and under investigation,” Harrison said. Police ask anyone with information in the case to call Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7-Lockup or call the city homicide unit at 410-316-2100.

So I have been informed of friend of friends family members have COVID-19 - listening to them talk about it you think the persons having it, have been given a death sentence. So far both of them have been tested - confirmed and sent home to recover. One 35ish with a sever cough and chest pain (asthmatic and smoker) - the other runny nose and sore through in the 40's My friend Anthony swears he has it - low grade fever - aches pains - headache and lethargy - no cough - however he is 6 days in and status quo. Still a very surreal time and so glad I have prepped to some degree over the years - UPDATED: The 35yr old was told if his condition worsens to come back - so I have just been told after inquiring more - My prayer list is getting quite long, all your sorry asses and now these two. Time to take a break from work and go for a 3 mile walk around the neighborhood......

Everyone has to do what makes them comfortable. I'm not at the point yet where I feel I need to carry at home. That may change, it may not. I do revisit that idea often. I would just stress/ask everyone to be smart, diligent and SAFE. The current state of affairs make the basic rules of firearm safety MORE important, not less. The last thing we need are more statistics for the antis.

Most my favorite guns I dont use for Home defense... think of it like owning a hammer... does it matter how much you "like" it? Or how well it can do the job? It takes far more training and skill to get the same performance from a lever action over a semiautomatic like ar15. Things to consider are ergonomics, ease of use, rate of failure, minimum level of useful training.. and of course proficiency... If you can shoot one well, quickly and in close quarters then it can work. A short model 1887 is something I will one day have in my "ring of defense", but even then a remington tac13 is probably more reliable

Y'all need to wise up to Zeke. When he says he will make food, it's not an offer, it's a threat. A tactic to manipulate others into making "it" (whatever it is) so he doesn't have to. When Zeke cooks, it's your punishment for not cooking in his stead.

Maybe it's these people who are buying these firearms, since they just lost their jobs, and will need to rely on another way to get their groceries???? ...." New Jersey’s online unemployment application system crashed Monday due to a huge spike in applications as non-essential businesses were forced to close in an attempt to slow the spread of the coronavirus, Gov. Phil Murphy said Tuesday. “We saw a record number of unemployment applications yesterday,” Murphy said at an afternoon news conference in in which officials announced the number of statewide cases has climbed to 267. "The state system crashed.” State Labor and Workforce Development Commissioner Rob Asaro-Angelo said 15,000 people applied Monday. Unemployment applications in the state have increased “12 fold” this week, Asaro-Angelo said. https://www.nj.com/coronavirus/2020/03/record-number-of-unemployment-applications-crashed-njs-website-murphy-says.html Then Murphy say this: ...."The governor, meanwhile, implored businesses to continue paying workers to make sure they are still eligible for potential federal relief measures that have been proposed. “Not paying employees now might prevent them from taking advantage of these," Murphy said. So, this asshat closes businesses but expects the business owners to continue to cut paychecks??? What an ass!!

a few years ago when we had the nj gov't shutdown, they closed all state parks. i still rode my bike there every few days. i was completely by myself, it was amazing. one day a park ranger happened upon me when i was unloading. he's like, "you know the park is closed, yes?" i said, "yep". he said something like "this conversation never happened" and drove off...

That doesn't mean much, it depends on the effects of the infections. Right now, the majority who test positive don't even know they have it, which means, a very mild infection, if at all, yet they'll get some future immunity: ...." “Stealth” coronavirus cases are fueling the pandemic, with a staggering 86% of people infected walking around undetected, a new study says. The findings indicated that these undocumented infections with no or mild symptoms — known as “stealth” cases — were behind two-thirds of the reported patients. “The majority of these infections are mild, with few symptoms at all,” Shaman said, Mercury News reported. “People may not recognize it. Or they think they have a cold.” https://nypost.com/2020/03/17/86-of-people-with-coronavirus-are-walking-around-undetected-study-says/

Americans worried about the impact of coronavirus have been lining up at gun stores across the country, arming themselves as fear of social unrest and food shortages have sparked a surge in preparedness. https://www.zerohedge.com/economics/americans-rush-buy-firearms-covid-19-stokes-fears-unrest
