So, uh, what do you do if you have a deadly force confrontation under normal daylight conditions? You know, where a bad guy can see you, and therefore your mere presence gives away your position? Do you quickly throw on your cloak of invisibility? You can’t quickly discriminate a deadly threat from a non-deadly threat, if you can’t see. You can’t accurately shoot a positively IDed threat, if you can’t see. You can’t accurately determine if your shots hit, if you can’t see. You can’t verify that your hits worked to incapacitate your threat, if you can’t see. The ability to see, and the mentally process what you see, is the single most important factor in deciding who wins a gunfight. Why should you engage in a gunfight and remove your biggest advantage ON PURPOSE?!?!? The weapon light is not for navigating your home. It’s for friend/foe identification and for making deadly force decision with proper information. I don’t care if you can somersault around your house blindfolded and never bump a wall or piece of furniture. That’s not what the light is for. What’s important is determining if what you are pointing your gun at is a deadly threat that is a valid target, or not - and doing it faster than your opponent By getting inside their OODA loop. But, but, but ambient light and stuff!! Even under full daylight conditions you may need a weapon light to target discriminate a threat, let alone ambient light. Here is my son, in my kitchen during the day. (This is simply for demonstration of light conditions and how we “see” the world, even when it isn’t dark out. I’m not advocating shooting children burglars in your home, or even offering up a scenario for discussion. He is simple the model I had on hand to demonstrate this very common setup of bright background with shadow.) What’s in his hand? A SIRT training pistol or a TV remote? How fast could you make the determination of a shoot/no shoot under these common daytime, normal, lighting conditions if my son was actually an unknown person?

1a. You should have a weapon light in order to make sure you don’t accidentally shoot an unintended target

That’s great news. There are numerous reports of the use of those two drugs with the same positive result. Meanwhile.... Dems are blocking a bill that will help a huge amount of people so they can include ...Ballot Harvesting....Fuel Efficiency rules for airlines.....Collective Bargaining rules for fed employees.....Diversity requirements for hires to the Fed Pandemic teams....and it gets worse if you read the rest of it. Piles of crap that have nothing to do with responding to the economic and health crisis in front of us. I can’t say in this forum what I think about it. I probably can’t say it anywhere. They *$#*@#& disgust me.

Its called "know your target", not... known where you are in the house.

I don’t think you could explain it in any simpler terms....if they don’t get it, they don’t get it.

One more time - for the cheap seats! Lights aren’t only useful in complete darkness - they are often times necessary to discriminate targets even in daylight conditions. The light doesn’t give your position away any more than your physical body does. Employing proper techniques for the use of the light as well as cover/concealment mitigate any negatives you may think are real. If a TTP (tactic/technique/procedure) will get you “kilt in da streets” with a WML, it will get you “kilt in da streets” without one. The light isn’t for navigation. It is for target discrimination. The light has nothing to do with “knowing your home”. He/She who powers through OODA (Observe, Orient, Decide, Act) first usually wins. Notice the first O - Observe. Being able to see well is crucial.

That’s Garand Thumb. He’s an Active Duty Air Force - I think he was a PJ/SERE Instructor. He makes review videos of gear and firearms. He’s actually pretty funny, and his vids are decent most of the time.

You THREE are dangerous. Officer: "why did you shoot your ________?" You 3: "It was dark and I was scared. J-Lo can do it, so I thought I could too. Guess not. "

I understand where you’re going here...but I don’t think less than lethal rounds are a good idea in this situation. “Deadly force, also known as lethal force, is use of force that he/she knows causes the risk of death or serious bodily harm to another person. Its use is justified only under conditions of extreme necessity as a last resort, when all lesser means have failed or cannot reasonably be employed.“ IMHO, if you’ve reached the point where it’s time to pull your weapon, it’s time for lethal force to be used, because all lesser means have failed or cannot be reasonably employed. If someone breaks into my home while we are in it...one has to presume they are there to cause death or serious bodily harm to me or my family. That gets the ‘I feared for my life’ response, which in my mind, means ‘Molly get the mop’. The intruder(s) are going to get lethal force used on them. Until they are no longer a threat to me and my family. Period. If you are using less than lethal rounds, you are, (IMHO) NOT in fear for your life. I fully realize NJ has some fucked up laws when it comes to self defense, but I’d rather stand in front of a jury explaining WHY I defended my life/family than being put into a hole in the ground, or worse, burying a family member because I failed to employ lethal force in that last resort moment. Just my $.02.

Let me clear this up... posts in public-facing forums are NOT supposed to be political. That's always been the rule. This is not a change. In times like this, with emotions running high, the blame game starts - and everyone starts politicizing these issues - making it far more time-consuming for moderators to keep up with "housekeeping" on these threads. You all realize moderators do this voluntarily, correct? And that any time spent "cleaning up" posts is time moderators don't spend doing their OWN things (work, family, etc.)? Now, I always do my best to try to "hide" overtly political or inappropriate posts, but again... it's getting difficult lately with some of you in such a "COVID-19 frenzy". I may just have to move some of these threads into the 1A Lounge, as a matter of simple practicality. On a final note... I've been exceedingly, perhaps even overly patient in providing this explanation. But, now I'm done. Any more pushback, snide comments, or other peanut gallery B.S.... one or more posters will end up in a time out.

Last night i was chatting with my godfather in Serbia who`s father in law got infected. Both are MD`s. The father in law went to a medical lecture with his staff where the speaker was from Italy and himself and 10 of the staff got infected with corona. Up until 4 days ago they were all treated with Aluvia (made by Abbott for HIV) and that didnt help any. They got switched to the Hydrochloroquine+Zpack 4 days ago and there s been a considerable change for the better in their condition. They are still under treatment but since the switch in therapy was made their condition and thus prognosis is improving.

@High Exposure Great example you used! The condition of your eyes also play a factor weather your pupils are dilated or not! I like the way you positioned his fingers on the remote to show his good trigger discipline! I had to use Photoshop to see that it was a remote.

I'm not a fan of lights. Because... it gives away your position. If the bad guy is waiting in the dark, he easily sees the light coming.

No it started last year. They just didn't know how to test for it. See the many posts above about people that had the symptoms, and thought it was regular old flu and dealt with it. My friend was one of them in November of last year. So even if China and the WHO are lying, there would need to be over 200,000 dead Chinese just to equal a normal flu. Normal US flu season, 50k dead, china 4x our population = 200k. Let not even mention sanitation, which would drive chinas number up even more. Using the "sky is falling numbers", there would be ~2 million dead chinese. I dont think they could cover that up. So who benefits from this? Follow the money and you'll know why this is happening

I always use CCI small rifle primers in place of small pistol primers — its rumored that the only difference between the 2 is the hardness of the cup Substituting different brand primers is a little different — you can do it but you should work up your load again — you can’t trust that different brand primers are they same chemical makeup I’ve been doing the CCI primer swap for a decade — never had an issue and I’m sure I was cautious with the 1st batch I made up — makes buying primers easier too

Unfortunately, the sky doesn't really have to be falling if enough dimwits can get together and make it fall through their panic (fueled by media stooges). Nuke 'em till they glow, then shoot them in the dark.

No. I absolutely agree for the majority of situations. I was just spitballin, as I expect the "tweakers", out of work, who are just trying to do a quick "grab and run" of a few dollars to feed their habit. Maybe some rubber bullets will make them think twice about stopping back, and eliminate the whole messy legal crap and clean up on "Aisle One". Just another "war game" exercise... That's why I asked the question. NJ doesn't have a clear Castle Doctrine like other free states, I was just speculating on how to turn the threat away, without having to put the family through legal jeopardy. My whole defensive plan is built around pulling the trigger as the last resort, showing that I deployed other measures first to deter the threat. Most of that is designed to help my legal defense. I have zero concerns or worries if it comes to pulling the trigger. But I'm also cognizant of how much bullshit I'll go through after that act. How screwed up up is that? Having a plan of action to help prove your innocence, instead of just defending against threat, because of how we're treated in this state.

The entire worlds death due to this approx equal 1/6 the flu deaths in the US. The number of cases in the world is ~1/100 of the flu cases in the US. But somehow the death count due to Corona in the US will somehow grow to 5x the worlds number? Extremely unlikely This crap did not start a week ago. It started last year. But no one was testing for it.
