Reached out to the trooper in charge of my application. He mailed everything out to the courts and as soon as a judge signs it and sends it back he will print up my NJ License to Retail Firearms (or some such). I'm hoping to hear that it's in the mail by the end of next week (Fri July 10th or so). As soon as it's on the way I will call ATF and get the ball rolling. The agent there that I have spoken with has been incredibly helpful on this little journey. I'm looking forward to meeting him and virtually shaking his hand or at least fist bumping. It looks like this will actually happen. I will be making a website as well with a splash page with basic information/contact information. Nothing fancy right now. Just something to get the word out.

@Cheflife15 I do think you are chasing a ghost. 90% it’s not the gun, it’s the booger hooking the trigger. 2 cent free intronet advice

I just got off the phone with ATF. My application packet should be here in a week or so. I also spoke with the superior court judge's clerk. She has my retail license and will be turning it around to NJSP either tomorrow or Monday. So that "shoulddddddd" be in my hands in a week and an half or so.

A flume is a device that monitors your water meter and tells you in real time if water is being used and how much. It will alert you if there appears to be a leak. I was walking out to the meter I found a sprinkler head :). Under the bus I go. Some Thursday morning comedy at my expense. You're welcome.

... and they are not necessarily "pro-2A" and subscribe to the standard liberal position of "protection for me but not for thee". They are still programmed to believe in "common sense" gun laws.

Me three as does everyone I've ever introduced to shooting. My daughter told her preschool teacher that red means dead when asked what the red light means on a traffic light. Lol

That’s where all the gun laws have come from. Dems didn’t want blacks armed in 38 now they don’t want anyone but their security armed in 2020. $75k a a day for Minneapolis town council “ private security “

Ok got ya! You are definitely correct in that respect. I did have to have a talk with her that she's not allowed to tell anyone that daddy carries a gun because we don't want the bad guys to find out

Unfortunately i predict the average new gun owner is buying a pistol for the house and not interested in the restrictions they will put on rifles etc.

Yet up here when I would drop her off at school in the morning. Me, the principal and the police chief would chat about our kids shooting their red riders and when were going to graduate them to .22s. It was this past year and I live in northern New Hampshire where guns a normal part of daily life. Even many liberals up here are not anti gun. @Krdshrk 1 she will be shooting way before she drives so I have to prioritize. 2 its not like she's completely wrong, the consequences for someone not stopping for a stop light could be death

Good for her! If you were still in NJ, DYFS would already be en route to relocate your daughter to a reeducation facility at an undisclosed location. They'd give her back when she turns 18. Maybe.

That's unfortunate if this is true. I try to avoid buying anything from vendors that flat out state they will not sell or ship perfectly legal items to states with restrictions. Some vendors will state no CA and NY, but NJ is fine. I still skip those and move on to someone else. I find it appalling when a vendor that sells anything firearms related is willing to shoot the 2A community in the foot.

You guys are killing me. Reloading was supposed to save me money. I'll stick with what I've got now. I don't think there's a risk of me blowing up my gun or house as long as I'm not stupid.

The following are my opinions only and they come from someone with much less experience than many here. Also, the only Southpaw in my family is my Mother, so I can not offer direct advise there. Some mfg are more accommodating to lefties than others. You probably already knew that though from Rifles. Do not go larger than 9mm, 22 is best, but there will be limited options there. Fondle as many as you can. Heavier guns have less felt recoil. Longer barrelled guns increase the distance between the sights which makes it easier to aim. You don't "need" a $1500 1911 as your first handgun. Budget priced guns are great to start with while you decide what features you like and dislike. Some mfg have multiple size backstraps to accommodate various hand sizes. Some handguns allow you to remove the FCU (fire control unit) and install it into a third party frame for even further accommodations and customization. Just like with Rifles, the quality of the trigger matters. Dry fire anything you're permitted to. Revolvers are still a thing and some swear by using them as a platform to learn trigger discipline. Zeke will tell you to buy a SIG.

CZ 75 P-01 Omega 9mm (usually hard to find but excellent) CZ P-07 9mm (more plentiful and an excellent shooter and excellent price and availability) CZ 75 B and D models 9mm CZ Shadow 2 (pricey but incredible shooter) 9mm Various Model Beretta's 9mm Sig Sauer P-226 and P-229 9mm

I am really liking the Beretta M9A3... the Walther Q5 SF match... eh. Was way too heavy. And it is still not as good as a CZ SP01, especially a custom shop model at that price point. But seriously... 1911.
