No, realistic. Hope, aka optimism, is not a strategy. There are no choices for change other than a change of state. I've been out a few months now and can see NJ a bit more objectivly. The grass is greener out here and NJ looks even worse from the outside. I almost feel stupid and foolish now for staying as long as I did. Get out.

I get it, its not cheap — I look too — the money is something to consider, but it’s only money — we can make more my biggest problem is the lack of anywhere fairly local to actually use the thing and it at least be challenging thing is, We put these things off thinking that we have time, it could be something as soon as Joe Biden winning the election — may never get the chance to own one if that happens

i called my towns pd today. i didn't call to find out when my permits would be ready, 'cause i know things are screwy right now. i called to find out how things proceed now since i got the email from the portal that their background check was done. i told the lady that i wasn't calling to be "that guy", then started asking her questions. she spent a good 15 minutes on the phone chatting with me. she even went to check to see exactly where my application was, without me asking her to. in my town, there's 78 people in front of me. there's 2 detectives that do these as time permits. that's actually better than a few years ago when there was only 1 detective doing it. she spent the time talking about how the number of applications has exploded, mostly due to the current events. she'd also mentioned something else that i believe slows down the process. she feels that with the online application, people that would fail a background check seem to be applying more, since they don't have to come in to the dept. at this point i mentioned to her that i'd rather it still be that way....that i felt a thousand times more comfortable filling out the application, coming down to the station and handing it to an officer. anyway.......sadly i've still got a wait. one of my 2 permits is taken by a g19. i'm not sure what my second permit's gonna be used on as yet......

From what I just read on ARFCOM was the 9th circuit court has overturned that ban. Which organizations around here have the capability of moving a lawsuit forward in NJ now that there is some precedent. I am willing to donate to liberate my brothers and sisters here in NJ. How can this CA get this right and has NJ even tried? Here's a link. https://apnews.com/11a1e49886a3143f2db3fbf5b10c5069?utm_source=Twitter&utm_campaign=SocialFlow&utm_medium=AP I should clearly state the obvious IANAL and I did not stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night. In fact I drank way too much, didn't sleep well and have a hangover. And if you were wondering, yes I'm doing it again tonight because it's Friday and I'm in a good mood.

Anyone want to buy a Sigma 300-800mm f5.6 EX canon ef mount? Some of those old camera bodies are worth next to nothing these days, sadly.

Was looking at those Firmans at Costco, I went with the Champion 3400 duel fuel, and run it off my grill propane tanks. Runs very quiet, powers my essentials with clean power.

I feel the exact same way. Been out of NJ for 5 year and have loved every minute of it. Most places in the USA are better than NJ.

Pork tenderloins are one of my favorites. I usually do several of them at a time, and vacuum seal/freeze them for quick meals during the week. We do my version of tacos al pastor once or twice a month using these smoked tenderloins. Easy...and so damn tasty! Make a quick chipotle slaw with some coleslaw mix. I use 1/4 cup Hellman’s mayo, 1/4 cup sour cream, and a little smoked chipotle pepper. A little of the pepper goes a long way... Pickle some shallots...simple, slice up a shallot and soak in some fresh lime juice and a pinch of kosher salt for about 10 mins. Grill a little pineapple. I use fresh pineapple and skewer it, and give it some grill marks on the gas grill (to make it easy and quick). Cube up the pork and the pineapple. Fill warm flour tortillas with the pork, and pineapple, top with the slaw and pickled shallots. Garnish with a little chopped cilantro (Mrs Tex prefers Italian parsley..but whatever). Easy...tasty..quick weeknight meal!

If you have a large group to cook for and want to splurge a bit, try smoking a whole strip loin. They are about 9 to 12 lbs and holy crap they taste good. I use a hickory / oak / apple blend for the smoke, get it up to about 114 degrees and then sear it on all sides on the grill or if your smoker has a sear burner, even better. For a rub I use a Roman pepper style blend (Basil, rosemary, black pepper, plenty of salt, little bit of red pepper) Make some horseradish cream for the side (horseradish + salt + mayo) Have been told was the best steak people ever had, and they’ve had some great steak.

Pork Shoulders/Butts can vary on time: bone-in or boneless and some pigs just cook differently. I avg 2 hr/pound and find 6-9 pounders cook the best. Smallest I've done was 3.5#, 19.1# the largest. Don't be concerned about having it ready at a set time. Start early and hold it. Briskets & Pork I cook until meat is fork/probe tender, meat temp is only a guide. When done, they get wrapped in 2-3 layers of foil, then 3-4 beach blankets and into a cooler. I've held both that way for three hours and trips to my brother's place and they're still burn-your-hands-hot when removed. I spatchcock all of my chickens now, I've done a few turkeys. I prefer the flavor of steaks over charcoal, I have not experimented with different pellets though. Beef ribs have humbled me the two times I've attempted them. I've done a few appetizers, including eggs and beans. Jerky is awesome, but very space & time consuming with all of the prep and finishing required. I struggle getting the temp I'm after as well; my smoker doesn't like to run that low. I've got some time off so I hope to be making a couple of batches. I'll be putting a couple of racks of pork ribs on later today.

Was just about to post this. Thanks. "What does this mean for New Jersey? While the decision does not directly affect New Jersey's magazine ban, we do think it has potential to influence the upcoming decision in ANJRPC's own challenge to NJ's very similar magazine ban. We are currently awaiting a decision from the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit in that case. Today we brought the Duncan decision to the attention of the panel of Judges deciding our case. All of the reasoning in the Duncan decision applies equally to our case, and we are urging the Third Circuit to follow the example of the Ninth Circuit and rule the same way in our case. "

On the pork butt/shoulder- I’ve done three on the pellet smoker. First one 10 am start, not ready until 830pm. Next one midnight start right on time for 4pm dinner. Last one started at 11 pm aiming for 4pm dinner with mom- was done by 11am. (Pound and 1/2 heavier than last one, thought it would be longer?) let it rest wrapped in cooler for 5 hours, came out hot. Everyone loved it, I thought the bark got a little mushy, but came out very moist with great flavor. With most BBQ it’s done when it’s done. If I’m trying to hit a dinner time I will start early and let it rest if a larger cut of meat. Doing smoked meatloaf tonight (no fruit). Picked up beef ribs for slow smoke tomorrow.

I'd like to think that this could be possible here, but nothing in this state works the way it should and does elsewhere. But i'm hoping!

Pork shoulder is easy and awesome, did one last weekend. (Tom beat me to it) If you do chicken or turkey make sure you finish on higher heat to get the skin right. I think I am gonna try beef ribs this weekend. Did a rib-eye reverse sear 2 week ago, came out incredible. (start with a thick cut, 2" or so)

HARD WORK... Every morning, the CEO of a large bank in Manhattan walks to the corner where a shoe shine is always located. He sits on the couch, examines the Wall Street Journal, and the shoe shine gives his shoes a shiny, excellent look. One morning the shoe shiner asks the CEO: - What do you think about the situation in the stock market? The CEO asks in turn arrogantly: - Why are you so interested in that - that topic? "I have a million dollars in your bank," the shoe shiner says, "and I'm considering investing some of the money in the capital market." - What your name? –Asks the CEO. - John H. Smith The CEO arrives at the bank and asks the Manager of the Customer Service Department: - Do we have a client named John H. Smith? - Certainly –answers the Customer Service Manager–, he is a highly esteemed customer. He has a million dollars in his account. The CEO comes out, approaches the shoeshiner, and says: - Mr. Smith, I ask you this coming Monday to be the guest of honor at our board meeting and tell us the story of your life. I am sure we will have something to learn from you. At the board meeting, the CEO introduces him to the board members: - We all know Mr. Smith, who makes our shoes shine in the corner; But Mr. Smith is also our esteemed customer with a million dollars in his account. I invited him to tell us the story of his life. I am sure we can learn from him. Mr. Smith began his story: - I came to this country fifty years ago as a young immigrant from Europe with an unpronounceable name. I got off the ship without a penny. The first thing I did was change my name to Smith. I was hungry and exhausted. I started wandering around looking for a job but to no avail. Suddenly I found a coin on the sidewalk. I bought an apple. I had two options: eat the apple and quench my hunger or start a business. I sold the apple for two dollars and bought two apples with the money. I also sold them and continued in business. When I started accumulating dollars, I was able to buy a set of used brushes and shoe polish and started polishing shoes. I didn't spend a penny on entertainment or clothing, I just bought bread and some cheese to survive. I saved penny by penny and after a while, I bought a new set of shoe brushes and ointments in different shades and expanded my clientele. I lived like a monk and saved penny by penny. After a while I was able to buy an armchair so that my clients could sit comfortably while cleaning their shoes, and that brought me more clients. I did not spend a penny on the joys of life. I kept saving every penny. A few years ago, when the previous shoe shine on the corner decided to retire, I had already saved enough money to buy his shoeshine location at this great place. Finally, three months ago, my sister, who was a high-priced whore in Chicago, passed away and left me a million dollars.

We should turn I-195 from the Delaware to the Atlantic into our own Apian Way (ca 71 B.C.) and populate it with (just about) every still-living Governor and Legislator here in the PRNJ so future politicians can see what will happen to them if they continue the crushing debt burden on our children and grandchildren. Crucifixion may be too merciful for most of them.

You should be ashamed of yourself. Clearly conditioned thinking that escaped NJ... Their and their family's safety is no more important than mine and my family's, and more importantly, they don't have special privileges over others, especially with a guaranteed right that is being obstructed by an overzealous and tyrannically motivated State (and in which heaven forbid they didn't abuse some of the power granted to them, as well). Neither current cops on duty nor current off-duty cops nor retired law enforcement should have (or support the dualistic) privilege over the people they work/worked for. They shouldn't get special privileges, especially to defend Statist Politicians, and especially if those Politicians, with the corrupt and fake media as cover, are going to disenfranchise the people of their natural right to self defense. They didn't earn shit, and they chose that profession. They got paid for it and earned an ambitious pension at the burden of the tax payers, their employers, for their service while those they work for and are suppose to protect largely don't have that safety net. And I presume many will move out of state and spend their money elsewhere and enjoy freedoms that this corrupt and egregious bankrupt state won't allow. Rethink your stance.

Happening in NC and all the free states. Yank will talk about how terrible it was up there and why he moved and then in the same breath tell me "how we did it up there." Seeing a lot more NJ dirty politics in NC that weren't as prevalent even 5 years ago too.
