Let me be more clear... if we at any time desire your investigative skills - - we'll ask for them. Until then, just pay attention to your own posts. Thank you!

So I'll take a break from the election ruckus to speak to the car guys on the forum. Yes, I know you're out there. My first car was a 1970 Olds 442. 455 CUI, Hurst 4-speed with the velvet T-handle on the shifter, and Cragar mags. Black with red pin striping and a white vinyl interior. When I ordered it I wanted the W30 forced air option, but it was too late in the production cycle and I couldn't get it. Oh well. I still loved that car. When I drove it down St. Catherine St. in Montreal it stopped foot traffic at the red lights. Might as well have been a Ferrari. When I saw Eastwood in Gran Torino I identified. Of course my story was totally different, but the car was a classic. So here you go. The last forgotten muscle car: the Buick Century GS Stage 1 455

Hello all, new member here (new firearm owner too). I recently completed and received my FID through Chester Township and on the new NJ FARS system. I was surprised at how quick and easy it was considering the nightmares I read here. Last time I tried to apply for a permit was in Ocean County (Jackson Township) and I gave up a few years ago. End to end I was done in just a touch over a month (applied 10/29 and got my FID and P2P 11/30). The only reason for delay was it took me a month to find time to get fingerprinted. Automated emails went in near real time to my references who replied same day. My background check was returned exactly at 30 days. I was fingerprinted 11/25 and paid my local PD same day. One business day later I received a call to come pick up my FID. Chester was super fast and easy to deal with. They basically turned it around same day once my background and fingerprints came through. I grew up in PA where gun laws are less restrictive but have never owned a firearm before. I took an NRA Pistol class many years ago at Gun For Hire but found the process to even get a permit in Bridgewater (and Jackson where I previously lived) to be a pain. I'm excited to be able to visit ranges with my family who are all PA residents for the most part and extremely experienced owners (via hunting or military). Looking forward to learning to being a responsible owner. I can say the process to get my P2P and FID were far less daunting than my next step which is actually figuring out what to purchase/where/how/getting a pistol class under my belt. Gun For Hire and RTSP in Randolph seem super busy. Their basic handgun classes are completely booked into 2021. I was figuring I'd not see my permit until end of year and made the mistake of waiting to take a class. Really wanted to get a basic class under my belt and possibly a 1:1 + range time to test some firearms out before buying. A good problem to have I'd say. One problem I seem to be running into is because I recently moved, my Driver License does not match my current address (but was not an issue getting my FID). Seems a lot of ranges require it to match the FID....

Sig P229 Platinum Elite from their Custom Shop. This one breaks my heart to sell. Never fired with the white grips on it. I bought it for a security detail in India and figured the white grips would hide well under light colored garments. The gig fell thru and it has remained a nightstand gun. I took one GFH training class with it. I used the 9mm conversion barrel most often. 2 mags come with it. The factory 12rd mags are in NC. If the ban gets overturned, I will reach out about selling them to you at a reduced price. ALL NJ requirements must be met and permits at the ready. Willing to meet at your FFL if they are in the Totowa / Bloomingdale area. Or near 287/23/208 vicinity. Will ship to another FFL at your expense. $1000.00 First I'll take it, gets it. Please understand the terms above before making the commitment. https://photos.app.goo.gl/GtNps395krKYUiJ2A https://photos.app.goo.gl/zCS39Mhdi9ohCdxW8 https://photos.app.goo.gl/1FTyeyfjMyRFRHEAA I also have a Sig P229 22lr upper for it that will be posted in the other section. If you are interested in the holsters for it, please IM me.

I'll join the crowd welcoming and second the idea of getting your license issues resolved as soon as you can. You will need matching IDs to buy a gun and any time that you buy ammo. I know that going to the DMV is a pain in the rear end but it might be easier than explaining why they don't match each time you purchase and carrying a third piece of documentation (the address update from DMV.)

Needs to be restored, but it's been in the family since 1958. It hadn't been out of the garage for 40 years when I was able to tow it up to NH. Until then I'd never seen the right side of the car. Second pic is what it looked like in my mother-in-laws garage - yes, it's in there somewhere...

Remember when Cabelas had the 2100 rds of Federal bulk for $75 in a plastic ammo can with free shipping? I decided it was a wise investment to purchase as many as I could for when I moved to PA and could own a select fire lower. Still working on the moving to a friendly state part. I should probably do an inventory...

Hey! I live near by in Morristown! I sometimes shoot at Black River and I went hunting in there a few times. I've heard you can do your change of address online for the DMV and while they won't send you a new license, they will send you documentation confirming your new address. https://emvc.state.nj.us/MVC_SAC/AVSStart.jsp . You'll also want to do this kinda soon (remember your P2P expires in 90 days without an extension). Finding a firearm and ammo you'll want to purchase take some research (do you know what you like, or where you're going to go to buy it?) So now is a good time to start reading! (I do a lot of my research online, reading reviews to help narrow down potential purchases) As for ammo, I use ammoseek to keep an eye on fluctuating prices. If you need any more pointers, don't be afraid to ask! Welcome to the virtual (and physical neighborhood!)

I agree with both of you. I use the Android app shot-timer linked above and for my purposes it's great. I use it when I'm practicing from a port at the range, so it does everything I need it to. I think it would fall well short for competition or serious use while moving.
  26. 1 point
Honestly I've played with those vs my CED 7000. The app versions are very poor with shot pickup and it does not give a good representation of how shot timers work. @Cheflife15 - the Competition Electronics Pocket Pro Shot Timer is on sale at MidwayUSA for $117.55 right now. Not much over your budget. Honestly though - for a few more bucks, it's better to get the CED 7000 or Competition Electronics Pocket Pro 2 https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1015085981?pid=772064

Welcome. You'll want to get that address match exception issue fixed. Some shops won't sell you anything unless they do.
  29. 1 point
Well, you get what you pay for. I wouldn't call the shot timer apps good but to each their own. I use a CED pocket pro II and it's great but that is a little over your budget. A CED pocket pro II is cheaper than buying a cheap timer and then an expensive one afterwards when you realize your mistake, however.

You guys should have been at the Daytona Speedway Turkey Run car show! Muscle car heaven. Was heavy on the Chevys and not much love for the Mustang fastbacks which is my thing but did get to drool on a few. One of the most enjoyable days I've had in a long time.

I forget what I paid, but I use mine all the time. Make sure you RTFM (read the f’n manual). You need to reset the Torque setting to zero when you aren’t using it. I had to send mine back to calibrate (they probably just sent me a new one) after torquing a screw head off at a setting that should not have snapped the screw.

I actually moved here about a year ago and I've been meaning to check out SC Arms and I did recently to see if I could find any AR15 5.56 but with no luck. Anyway might have to take that offer at Recoil, ill update you once I get all the parts and some .45 acp ball and no I do not plan on using plastic shok buffs thank you for ur help.

I would venture to say these were colt uppers mated to colt lowers. too many 'moving' parts here. All Colt will command more, 14.5" barrel set ups the most. Top one may be the magpul addition done by unlimited arms. Bottom ones look like builds to me bcg, ch, upper receiver colt?

.20/rd and no shipping or tax, totally in line with prices. Look at the deal in this thread, that's no tax or shipping and only 350 and it's out of stock. is what it is:) I also gave 1k to a friend for his kids to shoot

@zenviko DUDE! Your avatar says you're in Spotswood. So go to SC Arms at Romeo Plaza and see Derek if you have any more issues. He'll sell you some .45 ACP Ball. FWIW lots of guys use a full-length guide rod with a shok buff, myself included. Some full-length guide rods come in two pieces, and you screw the front piece into the piece in the spring & slide and then rotate the barrel bushing. Your Uncle may have done that style of guide rod? You already ordered parts, so use your new parts after you correctly install them as @Mr.Stu has pointed out to you. Keep all the parts of the older guide rod. If at any time you need some help, hit me up and I can meet you at Recoil. I'm about 20 mins away. Oh, and remember to not use "Shooter's Choice" gun cleaner if using plastic shok buffs. Shooter's Choice eats plastic shotgun wad fouling, and thus will attack plastic shok buffs... A TIGHT....well fitted bushing is your friend...too loose..bad repeatable lockup... Spring the gun with the spec'd weight.... do you reload..? Dor do you shoot factory 230grn ball?

I tend to stay away from multiple reticle sights like that. All you need is the single dot. If you're shouldering your rifle correctly, you should be able to just aim down the gun and see the red dot without having to search for it at all. For that price, I'd actually go with a Vortex optic - like a Strikefire, SPARC or Crossfire.
  46. 1 point
A quality 1x RDS is the answer. With a little knowledge and practice, you will be able to get hits out to 300yards all day long. Check out Holosun for a quality budget friendly option. The 503 is a hell of an optic for the price. If you want top of the line quality, and you have the $$, look to AimPoint. Check out the PRO or Comp M3 for the lower price option. T2 and Comp M5 are the top of the line choices. Don’t overcomplicate things with a LPVO in the beginning. A magnified optic will help you see better, won’t help you shoot better - you’ll just have a clearer view of our missed shots. You’ll have a faster learning curve starting on a plain dot in the least “Tubey” optic you can find, then move on to the magnified options down the road. Avoid fixed power magnifications optics as well. While great for niche roles, they are very frustrating to learn on when you want to shoot inside 50 yards with an optic designed to get hits at 400.
