T'was the month of Christmas, And all through the town, People wore masks, That covered their frown. The frown had begun Way back in the Spring, When a Chinese virus, Changed everything. They called it corona, But unlike the beer, It didn’t bring good times, It didn’t bring cheer. Airplanes were grounded, Travel was banned. Borders were closed Across air, sea and land. As America locked down, To flatten the curve, The economy halted, And folks lost their nerve. From March to July, We braved the first wave, People stayed home, They tried to behave. Now it’s December And cases are spiking, Wave two has arrived, Much to our disliking. It is true that this year, Visited sadness upon plenty, We will never forget The year twenty twenty. And just ‘round the corner - The holiday season, But why be merry? Is there even one reason? To adorn the house And put up a tree, Who will see it, No one but me. As I gaze out my window, The snow gently falls, And I think to myself, Let’s deck the halls! So, I gather the ribbon, The garland and bows, As I play those old carols, My happiness grows. My voice lifts up beyond the sky, Giving Him thanks and praise. Up where my heart is not alone, Sings a joyful chorus ablaze. Christmas is not cancelled, And neither is hope. If we lean on each other, I know we can cope. ------------------------------------------------------------------

Funny story about a Casio G-Shock.... Back in my Navy days, I had this beat up G-Shock that was pretty long in the tooth. It was beat to the point of the band being held together with ‘EB-Green’ tape (kind of like duct tape on steroids). My shipmates made fun of me for being so cheap, and holding on to that watch. I finally gave in, un-assed my wallet, and bought a new one at the Navy Exchange. We decided to ‘stress test’ the old one...so I zip tied it in the sail of my submarine. For those who don’t know, the sail, also called the ‘conning tower’ is a free flood area, and subject to sea pressure of whatever depth the boat dove to. A few days later, we went to sea for several weeks. I won’t tell you what depth we went to, but it exceeded the rating of the G-Shock by a significant margin. When we returned, I retrieved my old watch....and the damn thing STILL worked!! I don’t know if the new ones are equally tough, but I was impressed with the durability of that little $40 Casio!

Have you tried calling him again? This kinda stuff does happen. Give him some time to figure it out. In a snow storm like this i was up for about 2 days. One more day of cleaning trucks and equipment then a solid day or so just recovering from it. Give the guy some time.

Your contractor does damage on your property while working for you sounds like a civil matter, not criminal, not traffic. I doubt the PD will care. I'd call again and have a polite, friendly conversation. He might already have you on his schedule. 30 years ago, I was plowing snow for the first time and figured I would just push the snow through the holes in a chain link fence. Turns out packed snow doesn't push through like I though it would.

If you are a hunter, I hope you're aware of Hunters Helping the Hungry (HHH). It's a NJ-based 501c3 non-profit that facilitates the donation by NJ hunters of venison to NJ food banks (Norwescap in NW NJ and others) by utilizing a network of participating butchers. HHH does great work! Last year alone, they contributed 25,307 pounds of venison (that's 101,228 servings)! This year, they got grant money enabling them to waive the hunters' processing fees for some larger deer. So, in this incredibly tough year, where so many people have lost business or employment income due to COVID-19 closures and restrictions, this grant money provides a little extra incentive for hunters to participate in this worthy program. Here's an article with details: http://www.eregulations.com/newjersey/hunting/hunters-helping-hungry-needs-help/ And here's the link to Hunters for the Hungry (btw, they also take Paypal donations directly through their website which is used to defray the costs for participating hunters): http://www.huntershelpingthehungry.org/ And if you're a hunter residing in another state, I urge you to do your own research - apparently, these hunter donation programs are pretty common throughout the U.S.

@Mrs. Peel: I thought I would resurrect this thread that you started two years ago around Thanksgiving, since it is as relevant now, if not even more so, as we near the end of this very traumatic and devastating year of 2020. After seeing the long lines of cars of families around our country, lined up to receive supplies of food from Food Banks, it certainly made an impression on me. Therefore, I decided to make another financial donation to our local food bank, the Community Food Bank of New Jersey. They have recently announced a 3 for 1 match of any dollar donations made to them, by the Dec. 31st 2020. I have already made a couple of donations to them earlier this year due to the many food hardships either directly or indirectly caused by the COVID-19 virus pandemic. I was waiting to see what the presumed final bill in Congress will include that is expected to be finalized and approved before Christmas and what it may include towards this very important charitable cause. But since they are taking so damn long to agree to a compromise, I made my contribution online today. As far as I am concerned, making sure that Americans have enough food to survive is far more of basic necessity than many other charities right now, especially since so many people are still out of work and cannot afford the basic necessities of life. FYI, I prefer to donate to charities whose causes I believe in and who have a proven historical track record of having a very high percentage of each dollar donated ACTUALLY going to that cause, and not to support an administrative bureaucracy. My preference is to give money to help people and not send messages.... AVB-AMG

I was going to say, you might be in a slight misunderstanding as to exactly when he's planning on coming out. He might want or need to wait until the snow melts off. I would even suggest he wait until the season is over to do the repair. If it happened once it can happen again. Perhaps tomorrow, you give him a call and calmly discuss his thoughts on when he plans on coming out. I would even have ready for him the material source so he knows exactly what is needed to replace it. Finally, if you don't already have it, install a call recorder app on your cell phone, or do most of your conversing through texts. It helps for everyone to have a more precise/written record of what was said and when.

Is there still snow on the ground there? Might be hard for them to assess damage and make repairs until they can see the ground.

The Skeletool is larger than the Juice, and it is probably the largest I would pocket carry and not throw in a pack, glove compartment, carry on a belt, etc. I like the Rebar because it has a saw and an awl used when camping, hunting, etc. It is a backup to a larger saw and a larger knife. I like to carry the Skeletool when wandering about, but when in the woods, I prefer the Rebar or Supertool 300.

@Golf battery Unless Rosie is tagged, Rosie doesn't know he needs to respond, lol. I found this thread by accident... I was busy dealing with a "Butter" ON THIS FORUM that wants legislation for mandatory firearms training. The entire thread was deleted. Anyway, I need to look at this to see what Bob & you are talking about. So gimmie some time to digest it & I'll get back to ya Ed! ~R

Just under $400 I think (it was actually a gift). But this was almost a year ago. I like the idea behind the Mossberg MVP (16” bolt gun fed by AR mags), but I didn’t like the shitty quality of the gun. This fit the bill. Finding a Trijicon Accupower 1-4 at Midway for under $300 was nice too! Now I want one of those CZs you were selling a while back in 7.65x39...

Welcome to the asylum. 28c primers are just the beginning. How would you like to have a dementia patient as President, an anchor baby mixed race suck-cock-for-promotion ultra liberal for his VP, a total clown circus for the cabinet, and SCOTUS justices too scared of rioting to do their job running the country? Wait a minute ... OH SHIT!

If they didn't "count", the club we both belong to would be closed for lack of members cause we'd all be IN JAIL You need some Special High Intensity Training...and going to league shoots and SHOOTING THEM instead of merely watching will get most all your transportation questions answered before you even ask them I'm going to advise you to study only the EXCEPTIONS & EXEMPTIONS, and not the original conflicting gun laws themselves. Punctuation has meaning: "OR locked in the trunk of an automobile". As in an uncased, NAKED gun, sans trigger lock, tossed into the trunk unloaded, so it can get scratched by the other 99 guns bouncing in the trunk. Once that deck lid is closed, the NJSP considers it (them) SECURE. NO gun case needed at all UNLESS you're leaving the state, in which case you need to follow FOPA Rules. ~R P.S.: Treat me to some coffee some time & pick my brain. Your fears will be put to rest

Of course they can't guarantee anything - however they're the most effective forensic psychiatrists here in the state that are pro-2A. They supported the 2A community at NJ SAFECON and Anthony at Gun for Hire recommends them.

Also for the record, I've never bought from CTD ever... as they've never been cheaper on anything I've wanted.

even if they're essential goods, the free market should have free reign to set prices as it sees fit. gotta take the (very small) bad with the (much greater) good.
