rivets would make permanent per the law but epoxy would not In reality, nothing is permanent

Hexmags show what a clusterfvck NJ law is. You can easily disassemble the 10/30 Hexmag, swap out the spring and have a full 30. Undoing a riveted or epoxied Magpul is tons more difficult. Edit: just a clarification - the old 10/30 Hexmags could be easily disassembled. It looks like the newer series 2 Hexmags have a rivet at the base.

$11 for hexmags and they work great. Steve also has mags for $15 in stock, an entire freaking crate of them. I prefer metal but the hexmags are more than fine

Brazil. Not that it couldn’t have happened here - we have all seen sketchy shit at the range. Be safe. Be smart. Don’t be afraid to call someone out on their stupid weapons handling. Remember your safety rules - They are overlapping and well thought out. Like every accidental/negligent shot that hurts or kills someone - If that guy would have followed even ONE of the four rules, no one would have gotten hurt. Loud bang and a hole in the floor/furniture maybe, but no injury.

I cannot speak to how some individuals make the mod permanent. Just how Charlie Cooper and GMW do it. I can assure you, the epoxied mags are as permanent as permanent can be according to the law. I've also seen roll pins inserted laterally through the floor plate.

no one, and I mean no one does pin/weld jobs better than Steve. Not even close, used them all and you can't even tell it's pin/weld with Steve's work. I've had him do something on a cz, other firearms. go to Steve @remixer

Disclosure: I've transferred a lower through Ira once, and have no ongoing relationship with him or his business. Most places buying used guns will give you between 40-60% of their resale price. If he put it up for 25% over what he paid for the gun, he wasn't making it up that it was going to sell low. If the 25% more is 25% more than the gun plus ammo, that might be more in line with standard pricing practices and bumped up his margin, but seldom is selling a gun to a retail outlet an exercise in getting anything close to market value out of it.

A few months ago my son received his FPID and P2Ps. Of course, pickings were slim to none and I lamented this fact someplace on the forum. Our very own Dajonga (David) sent me a pm explaining he worked at Shooters and would be willing to keep an eye out for him. After a few weeks of pms back and forth my son picked up his first handgun with David's help, a full size S&W M&P at a very reasonable price with all that's going on. We had been to Shooters 2 or 3 times through the process, and even though the place was crazy busy, we were never rushed and were treated with the utmost proficiency and professionalism. I just wanted to publicly thank David and Shooters for their excellent service, and look forward to dealing with them again.

Just need to head for the exit before the party is over. I just wish I had some idea of what a good key indicator would be. I suppose when I start hearing about new regulations on every industry, it may be time.

Magpul just introduced 10/30 rd pmags at a MSRP of $18. I'd buy those and save on money & headaches. Keep those 30 rd mags whole.

agree I believe if it requires tools to modify, you'd be safe but my issue is just the epoxy. I can melt epoxy with a lighter if needed, boil it away, etc etc. I can make that epoxy disappear faster than 1k brick of ammo if needed. That's why the 'only epoxy' crowd, and they are out there, need to be careful

agree, this is great price. half tempted myself for my future move south! lol nice

This is correct, nothing is permanent. Even rivets can be easily drilled out. My suggestion, put in the mag blocks, epoxy the base plate, and stop worrying. There hasn't been a single report in over 2 years of anyone being arrested at the range with a +10 round mag.
  16. 1 point
it absolutely does. If you can modify it, it's not permanent. There are many ways too do this I agree but if it can be modified, it's not permanent. Now if it's riveted or blocked with rivets great but if only using epoxy, you're cooked

Almost all modified 10/30 pmags are epoxied after the magblock is installed. These are permanently modified magazines and sold as NJ compliant. The intent is to render the magazine permanently limited to 10 rounds. Just because you "can" dissolve or cut through the epoxy does not make it non compliant. There is nothing that can be mechanically done to limit a 30 rd magazine that could not be undone with enough effort.

Since I mentioned the North Jersey Clay Target Club in Fairfield NJCTC in this thread already, I'll note that I just received an email from them this morning. For the next four months, starting Feb 1, they are doing a cross-promotion with the Reloaderz range in Wayne. NJCTC members get a 50% discount on range time at Reloaderz ($17.50/hour instead of $35). Reloaderz members get a 50% discount on trap at NJCTC ($5 round instead of $10 round). They'll evaluate at the end of 4 months to see if they want to make it a more permanent promotion.

well it depends on how it's done. I've seen people epoxy bottom on the outside and it's clearly not going to fly as you'd need to do is cut through it.

Epoxy and rivets have been used (separately) by major resellers to make plastic mag mods permanent.

In my opinion that is not a permanent modification. Assuming you own them and assuming they are in PA...and you want 10 round mags. Leave them in PA, they might be worth something soon or at least be grandfathered...and buy new 10rnd mags. If you want to modify them, cut the mag body to 10rnd length and the mag plate can be pinned on... works like a charm.

Welcome aboard! With all this clay talk, I’m thinking I need a shotgun.

@remixer Steve at Monmouth Arms is my go to FFL / gun guy. He may be able to help you out if he's not too far for you. I've also used JT Customs and Tactical Concepts. All were excellent. There is always Gunbroker. But I was shocked at the prices I saw for the "buy it now options". I think the least expensive "buy it now" choices was $950 for a Ruger Mini-14. And it was an older version. Good luck. Great looking rifle! Link to the $950 used one if interested: https://www.gunbroker.com/item/889661746

Hi, Keith and Rhi, You can't beat the price of the WMAs for a place to shoot clays, but you're also not to far from the North Jersey Clay Target Club in Fairfield. NJCTC It's open to non-members as well as members. They are almost exclusively a trap club, but a few times a year they set up for five-stand or some other gun game. Trap is $5 a round for members, $10 for non-members. They don't sell ammo on site, but a few times a year when they get a truckload of clays, members can place an order with the supplier and have ammo delivered at the same time. Target loads seem to be one of the few things that haven't shot up in price. This month's delivery was still priced at $56 for a flat of 10 boxes Federal Top Gun in 12 Ga, no shipping or tax. Lots of other brands, gauges available as well, plus wads and shot for the reloaders (they can't bring in powder or primers).

I picked up the Model 15-2 on Friday. It is a really nice shooting gun. The S/N puts this as made in 1965. I shot both 148gr wadcutters and 158gr LSWC and both shot very accurately. This is my first Model 15 and I can say there will be more.
