Common sense response to the general media's Buffalo coverage.

They make excellent coffee. I've had four of their roasts, and they are all excellent. If you are a true coffee nerd, they also have limited runs of beans from exotic places. Best of all, they don't say shit about shit, they just make coffee.

not sure if this should be here or somewhere else...but considering the times, it would seem prudent to put it here in the prepping section. i watch this channel sometimes. saw this test on premier body armor, and to be honest it looks pretty dam good. while it's not perfect(what is really, right?) it would seem to be a good way to be armored up for the most common possible rounds without drawing any attention from the nutters........ You’d be surprised how often people do not react when shot. Pistol rounds are notoriously bad at stopping bad guys. The armor does not stop working magically on the 5th anniversary of its being manufactured. The “expiration” date is there as “insurance”. Moisture breakers down aramid fibers. The humidity and sweat your body produces provides enough moisture to affect the armor. The “expiration” date is assuming you are wearing the armor every day for 5 years on 100* weather and rain storms every other day. If you take care of your amor: • Keep it dry • Lay it flat or Hang it • Don’t store it in a hot trunk all summer The armor will last much longer than the 5 year NIJ “expiration date”. Side note - in Europe, they certify the same armor for 10years. As a confidence boost - I have taken armor to the range that was manufactured in the mid 1990s and shot it with .38, 9mm, .40 and .45 and 00B 12g. The armor stopped everything.

Primary Arms has their Cyclops 1x prism optic on sale for $199 for Memorial Day. It’s about the size of a T2. I have no time on one, but I am intrigued. Oh, and Slings: I like 2 point quick adjust slings. The Magpul, BFG VCAS, Flatline Fiber Co, are all well executed. My current favorite is the Ferro Concepts Slingster.

I'm a fan of Blackout coffee myself. Love the Brewtal Awakening Dark Roast.

Following the Buffalo supermarket shooting, where the bad guys armor stopped some hits from a good guy early on in the fight, I predict legislation on body armor coming down sooner rather than later - if not nationally, at least regionally. If it is something you are interested in, now is the time.

use this opportunity to divide the roots/bulbs if they have been underground for a long time. I mean, hey, who can't use a free peony. One of my lawn accounts has two gigantic Tractor Supply livestock water tubs on what appeared to be short legged saw horses. It looked pretty cool, but I wonder how long the tubs will last.

Purchased the "planter wall blocks" and wood boards to make the raised beds yesterday. Using Douglas Fir. Price of Cedar is OUTRAGOUS. Would have been close to $1k to use Cedar. Was MUCH less using Douglar Fir. I know it doesn't last as long but I want to see how we do and if my wife and kids help over the next year or two. If the garden does well and I have some help maybe then we can look at Cedar or some kind of stone down the road. And hopefully it will be MUCH less expensive then. Ordered 4 cubic yards of gardening soil (top soil and "mushroom compost" mix) from a local nursery. Need to move around a few things in my garden to make room for the three beds (8x4 & about 12 inches deep). Moved the most difficult (Butterfly Bush) was moved today. Have to move some Peonies and Day Lillies tomorrow. Know it's not the right time of the year but spot I was going to originally put the raised beds doesn't get as much sun as the garden area,. May do one or two "cattle panel trelises". Not sure yet. Hopefully have all the plants I started from seed around beginning of April in the soil by next weekend. They are getting large. Especially the cucumber and zucchini.
