Canada is turning out to be our proverbial coal mine canary between the taking of citizens finances and by default everything they own and of course the ploy of incremental gun control. Pretty clear to a lot of us but unfortunately too many just don't realize this real time tyranny in the making on our own doorstep.

While this may be a practical solution to the dems doing NOTHING about social policy, it is not an ideal remedy. It smacks of socialist control, "show me your papers" and deeply institutionalizes children. We'd be putting our children is day prisons, while the bad guys roam free.

Harden the schools. Single point of entry, into a secured vestibule. ID checks for all those entering. Secure the classroom doors. Armed school resource officer willing to actually do their job. Security systems and surveillance systems that are secured but accessible to police. Training. But everyone seems to be ignoring the real issues. Mental health and glorifying those who commit these acts. We've had easier access to to guns of the same capabilities for over a century. The guns or access to them hasn't changed. What has changed is the amount of people prescribed drugs with suicidal and homicidal thoughts as side effects. We are the most medicated country in the world. Its rare to leave the doctors office with them offering to write you a prescription for something. My SIL is a drug rep. Its her job top influence doctors to write more prescriptions. We advertise prescription drugs to ordinary people and tell them to talk to their doctor if they want to be on it. This is backwards, you don't walk into a doctors office and say I saw a drug on TV that I think might be useful for me. You walk in, tell the doctor your problems and they should use their training and experience to prescribe the right medication for you if absolutely needed. Over 1/3 of Americans have been prescribed some form of anti-depressant. Way more than any other country. Most of the school shooters have been on some sort of drug with these negative side effects. They want to hold gun manufactures and the gun store liable when there is a shooting, but not drug manufacturers and the prescribing doctor. Unfortunately there is too much money to be lost by Big Pharma and the politicians to try to limit what drugs are sold and to whom as well as hold them responsible. Big Pharma is the largest lobbying industry, 2x bigger then the next biggest industry. Yes let's send kids to schools designed like prisons because better background checks are too inconvenient. I can't get behind this logic. The issue is nics doesn't stop criminals from LEGALLY getting guns. Hence there is an obvious problem with it.

I'm gunna catch some heat here for this but better background checks could be nice in other parts of the country. Maybe if it cuts down on the crazies getting guns, they'll be less pressure to take them all away. I'd actually like to see better background checks if it gave us access to unneautered guns. Law abiding citizens without mental health issues should be allowed standard magazines etc. Let the flaming begin lol.

I work at an engineering firm MEP & Technology..we design buildings, campuses and tenant fitouts across the country..BTW FL is exploding..........it hectic, fast moving, detail oriented and stressful. A young fella in our group, doesn't work for me, has been with us for 8 months, out of those 8mo, he has been out 'sick' for like 5 weeks.. The last round he was out, three weeks ago, jammed us up with deliverables...when he came back I saw him that morning. I said to him in front of everyone, its good to see him and happy he is back, and that his hangnail isn't bothering him and his monthly cycle is over, we have a lot of work to do this week. He welled up and walked away from his desk....snowflake. Yesterday, i decided to work remote, get an early jump to a long day... about 10am, i get a teams message from his to stop emailing and messaging the kid with things he has to get done, and whats the status of things to support my projects.... Seems he had a full on panic attack in the office and started crying that, "..there is so much work to do...." and he asked to go home and was allowed. This is a 25yr old.male electrical engineer.... I advocated that we can his sorry fragile ass and hire men and women with grit and drive....not emotional wrecks. I probably have an email from HR in my inbox this old morning...lol Some of these kids today are beyond weak emotionally....
