You know we will now reactivate the three cases! 2 carry and 1 15 round mag! Biden, Murphy, Hochul, and Adams are deeply unhappy and concerned today. Too bad, all I ever wanted for me and my family is the same level of protection that we pay for them to have 24/7!

I offer not only a well-deserved Thank You to Justice Thomas for penning this freedom-loving and long overdue opinion, but to the other justices who agreed with it, AND (though he certainly irks the hell out of me at times, lol) I think some due credit needs to go to former President Trump as well. His many conservative appointments to SCOTUS and other Federal courts, as it turns out, are really providing a bulwark against the encroaching attacks on Constitutional rights that we've been seeing as of late.

Me either. (I turned 70 last month.) Be sure to wear protective gear when you go out today, as liberal heads will be exploding all over the place! This is indeed a great day that I never thought I would see.

On Thursday, Murphy called the Supreme Court decision tragic. “Based on a deeply flawed constitutional methodology, a right-wing majority on the United States Supreme Court has just said that states can no longer decide for ourselves how best to limit the proliferation of firearms in the public sphere,” he said. “Let there be no mistake – this dangerous decision will make America a less safe country.” And just like that, the Bill of Rights in no longer above his pay grade...

I love the fact New Jersey was mentioned too. I never thought I would live long enough to witness this.

I dont ever see any meetup events just for a simple day at the range. No real agenda...just to meet fellow forum members and to shoot. Anyone interested? I can bring up to 2 guests. Any thoughts?

The application is not online - you still need to submit the paper form in triplicate. When I applied through NJSP back in 2017 they sent me to Morphotrack again for the fingerprints. I was told at that time that that would initiate the national background check too. I got my quals done with Robert Bajor who is listed on the NJSP web site. He gave me a completed RPO form which I do not know will be accepted for non RPO applications. He did say that if I needed it in a different format, he would be happy to sign that too.

Even better, keep reading. Thomas flat out says 2a laws must be judged using the 2a text and history and cannot use any other criteria to determine if it is constitutional. So if 2a doesn’t say magazines can only be 10 rounds and there is no historical context for the limits, those laws are gone too… amazing ruling!

Hochul in her address: "Does everyone understand what a concealed weapon means? That you have no forewarning, that someone can hide a weapon on them and go into our subways, go into our grocery stores like stores in Buffalo NY where I'm from. Go into a school in Parkland or Uvalde." Yes governor, we understand that. Because it happens every single day in New York State. ALL your laws are totally INEFFECTIVE against CRIMINALS. This SCOTUS ruling simply assures that citizens can be equipped to immediately defend themselves against those criminals if they choose to. BECAUSE YOUR LAWS GUARANTEE NOTHING! NY Gov. A good indication of being qualified would be to shoot the NJ Police HQC1 or HQC2 course of fire. Details are here: https://www.state.nj.us/lps/dcj/agguide/firearms2001.pdf

I know we are all excited and you all want to apply but i think patience is needed here. If you listen to these videos/podcats from the ANJRPC & GFH you can see what i am talking about. Something needs to "trigger" the state to act or change the requirements. https://vimeo.com/manage/videos/716827433/e09b4eef73 The Gun For Hire Radio Broadcast: Episode 577 - Best Gun Range NYC and NJ Area | Gun Range Near Me Congrats to @gunforhire for all his hard work that finally paid off & sticking his neck out for all us! Congrats to ANJRPC also. I know many of us knock the NRA etc and sometime its valid. In this case, the NRA has come through and they should also take some credit for this - like it or not. (no i dont like wayne but the NRA is the most established org - i am not giving up on them yet)

Unfortunately the decision states that apps, permits, and qual are still allowed. They state that may-issue is unconstitutional and shall-issue must be the law of the land.

...we will do everything in our power to protect *criminals* - while restricting the "rights" of second-class citizens, sorry, I meant second-amendment supporters. Signed Above-my-paygrade Murphy Obviously can't believe this went our way, and it will be interesting to see how NJ truly plays out. After having been told, "don't even bother" when asking for a carry permit application years ago, it will be interesting to actually be able to go through this process. Eventually.

Congrats former comrades! Looking forward see how NJ handles this!

The statutes and Admin Code tell you what you need. I will be scrutinizing them and getting my app in ASAP. Making assumptions based on what other States require is folly.

I'm thinking most, if not all, of the above bills are unconstitutional, but when has that ever stopped them.

guys not sure about you but i feel this opinion is much broader than we expected or in other words - Christmas in June! lol In this case, Thomas explains, nothing in the Second Amendment distinguishes between home and public "with respect to the right to keep and bear arms." it is Thomas' Birthday today as well!!

6-3! (i thought roberts was going to dissent) The New York "proper cause" requirement violates the Constitution, Thomas explains, because it only allows public-carry licenses when an applicant shows a special need for self-defense.

I wouldn't be leery of a used gun, specially police trade-ins. I think that at least half of what I own is pre-owned. For $500 you're going to struggle a bit to find a new 9mm that is worth a damn. One of the first guns I bought in NJ was going to be a Sig. The guy at the shop suggested I try an H&K P30. Once I did, I knew that was it. The VP9 is a fantastic gun, essentially the same frame as a p30 and a bit cheaper. Try one, get one used and it'll be around the ball park of what you want to spend. Either one will run as hard as you can and never stop. The Smith and Wesson M&P is another good one to look at. Sigs are great, you just won't find anything in your price range unless it's some kind of close out deal or a friend sells it to you. I'm not a fan of Glocks, but to each his own, they are quite reliable. Not sure if you're noticing a theme here, but stick with the main brands and you'll have a good experience. When you start with the next tier down to save some bucks, you might find ammo becomes finicky or you get an occasional malf. Good luck.
