I dropped off my packet at NJSP Washington Station this afternoon. The Sgt. at the front desk looked at everything in it and was clearly referring to a checklist as he did so. He said it looked complete and would pass it to their firearms person. He even volunteered her email address in case I had any questions to ask her. This is what I did: 3 x application form (SP642 6/28/2022) filled in on my PC and printed. My references signed each copy. I signed each copy in front on a notary at the UPS store he and notarized them. 1 x consent for mental health records search (SP066 7/23/2019) Which I signed and one of my references witnessed. The UPS store guy also did my photos. He knew what it was for as soon as I said I needed 4 pictures. He said he had done several already this week, but I was the first person to ask for 1.5"x1.5" rather than 2"x2". He made a mental note to help future customers. (I also was asked questions by the other staff at the store about how to get a gun and a permit - one was a young expecting mother) I got a money order for $50 from the post office and made it out to "Treasurer, State of New Jersey" - I have been advised by the NJSP trooper that handled my (failed) app in 2017 that the wording on the MO has to be exactly that. Anything else has been bounced before I did quals with a certified instructor that has been doing RPO quals for years. He is recognized by NJSP as being certified for that. He signed off that I did the HQC1 and HNCQ. He did not put his NRA certification number on the form so I got it from him and added it myself. I provided a photocopy of my drivers license and my certificate of naturalization. I provided a photocopy of the PtPP that was executed when I acquired each handgun I qualified with. I went to Identogo in Easton, PA this morning as there were no appointments available on the web site in NJ at all. I had to pay extra for out of state, but I was not prepared to wait. I booked the appt on Tuesday and went today (Thursday). I included the receipt in my packet. Before I handed it all in, I made sure I had a copy of everything for my records. Now the wait begins.

Are we sure we still want to conceal carry in N.J. ? The interpretation of the law may have changed but the same evil people are still running the state and court systems.

10 years now so they can get it passed. They'll whittle it down in the future.

We should know what the court plans to do with these cases by the end of the week." https://mobile.twitter.com/gunpolicy/status/154218032461615923 Yes, that's the NJ Mag Limit case.

I would really, really enjoy seeing the mag ban overturned, more so than the CCW ruling. That would be a kick right in Bucky's horse teeth.

You know, you are right. Carrying for self defense is bullshit. It's better to get carjacked, raped murdered. Faaaaar less complicated. Funerals are much cheaper than defense attorneys.
  12. 2 points
Exactly. Everything is against you in NJ. Our state animal should be the Lawyer. The SCOTUS decision gives us more liabilities than rights. You now can enjoy the right of carrying 2 lbs of steel on your hip and wearing extra clothing in the summer heat. You still do not have right of self defense.

One down, million violations of US Constitution by NJ to go. https://www.supremecourt.gov/docket/docketfiles/html/public/20-1507.html Petition GRANTED. Judgment VACATED and case REMANDED for further consideration in light of New York State Rifle & Pistol Assn., Inc. v. Bruen, 597 U. S. ___ (2022). The questions presented are: 1. Whether a blanket, retrospective, and confiscatory law prohibiting ordinary law-abiding citizens from possessing magazines in common use violates the Second Amendment. 2. Whether a law dispossessing citizens without compensation of property that was lawfully acquired and long possessed without incident violates the Takings Clause.

Remember . . . Whatever he proposes will still have to pass a Democrat led assembly, a Democrat led senate and be signed by a Democrat Governor. Just how much do you think that he can get away with in one shot. Work to elect more Republicans around the state and see how much more you can get.

Reach out to Joe and S&T. If you can get 8 shooters together, he may be open to do a class. As @Mr.Stu alluded - instruction, to be valuable to all, needs to cater to the lowest level of ability, so depending on their mindset, your C class shooter may be bored. I was at Joes Level 1 Carbine class a few weeks ago. I try to take his level 1 class every year as the basics, executed faster and more accurately that your opponent are where the day is won, either in a competition or a gunfight. Their is no such thing as advanced gunfighting. I find an annual refresher of the basics under the watchful eye of a qualified and competent instructor, which Joe most definitely is, keeps me sharp. I learn something new about my abilities every year I attend.

Damn!!!!!!!! You guys might yet become part of real America when it comes to gun issues! Awesome!

I care about Murph's feelings only to the extent that I kinda enjoy it when they get hurt. But the problem with infinite lawsuits is that they require infinite money. Gun owners and the associations that represent us have to chose their battles carefully given their limited funds. The state is counting on this. The state, on the other hand, has almost infinite money for this nonsense, since they take it from all of us...

Good news all around, maybe SCOTUS spared the libs feelings temporarily in light of their current asswhooping. The lower courts were wrong the first time around without Bruen and I think this is the courts way of saying get your shit together before we do it for you.

Under NJ state constition: "All persons are by nature free and independent, and have certain natural and unalienable rights, among which are those of enjoying and defending life and liberty, of acquiring, possessing, and protecting property, and of pursuing and obtaining safety and happiness." in conjunction with NJ state law, I view the issue as follows. You can't be the initial aggressor, clearly the person breaking into your home is. You have a right to forcefully remove the person from your property(dwelling)to protect it, and obtain safety. If that individual then shows a willingness and ability to harm you, self defense is warranted. This idea you have to sit and watch someone ransacked your home while the police make their way to you is nonsense. NJ is going to have one hell of time justifying duty to retreat with that paragraph being the first one in the NJ State Constitution, or at the very least an individual using force to protect their property.

I'd rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6.
  31. 1 point
Respectfully, I don't think this is accurate. If someone breaks into your home and they have a gun, there is no law that states that you have to engage in some sort of dialogue with the criminal to determine whether he's there to simply take all your possessions or if he's also going to shoot you.

IF there was any doubt before, these bills (past ones too and many more to come) are absolute evidence that they ARE after the Constitution and 2A. These are vengeful actions against regular Joe and further restrict the poor, minority and disadvantaged population from ever exercising Second Amendment of the Constitution. The strategy always has been for select power hungry states to throw sh*t at the wall faster than SCOTUS will ever get to. 15 years to go from "you can have it at home" to "you may have it outside home" - Thats just for ONE restriction. 15 years of violating law of the land by Govt with no consequences. Extrapolate that out and its going to be 50 years before SCOTUS can rule on 3 more such violations. That is, IF SCOTUS stays true to Constitution. By then, all the unconstitutional laws would have been on the books for more than 100 years and become part of the "historical practices". What a mess.

I thought you guys would have figured out by now that it has nothing to do with stopping criminals.
  36. 1 point
Like a bully in school, they will throw everything and kitchen sink at it. Doesn't actually cost them anything to keep making stupid laws and there are no consequences. Its a real shame that NONE of these bills actually make any difference in crime. We know it, legislature knows it and criminals know it.

Gee, not even if the carjacker is threatening the owner with a sharp pointy stick, or a Glock? I guess I need to find that part of NJ law where is say a vehicle owner must peacefully relinquish property to a thief, if the thief has a weapon. Maybe we need an info booklet on how that works. Dick and Jane were carpooling to work. Jane was driving and stopped at a red light. A carjacker suddenly appears and points a gun at Jane. Dick sez, "Gee Jane, I'm sorry I can't use my CCW to protect us, it's a carjacking. God damn that carjacking loophole!!!!!

Rittenhouse spent 2 years of his life defending his actions and only won because it was televised. If it wasn't on TV, he would have been railroaded into prison for the rest of his life. You can't imagine all the possible charges and lawsuits you will face for using a firearm to defend yourself. You might be lucky enough to stop the assailant, but if you injure an innocent bystander, they will nail you to wall. If you used a sidearm that you haven't qualified with, well...that's just icing on the cake for DA.

I guess it depends where you do the qualifying. Gun For Hire shows: – No holster needed – All shooting from the ready position – 50 rounds per firearm – Timed fire using an FBI Q target – 24 rounds at 7 yards – 14 rounds at 10 yards – 6 rounds at 15 yards – 6 rounds at 25 yards For a total of 50 rounds. Must hit at least 40 rounds out of 50 (80%)

  45. 1 point
Yes however you must have a residence in NY. Depending on where it is it is relatively easy to get a permit, for now. I have had an unrestricted permit for the past 7 years. I received that faster than I received my NJ FPID card.

NJ state law says 60 days to render an approval or denial, after 60 its automatically approved. There is no NJ precedent they can take longer like with FPIDs, and FPIDs wouldn't result in auto approval anyway because the statute doesn't say that.

I'll sum that article up. Biden Admin: Lower your prices, increase your output and invest in refining!!!! Energy companies: But you just said you plan to phase out fossil fuels in the next 5 years Biden Admin: Yes, we want you out of business, now spend your billions and make gas cheaper! Energy companies: No. Biden Admin : SEE!!! It's corporate greed that is causing prices to be so high!!!
