Practice doesn't all have to be at the range. Revolvers are particularly well-suited for dry fire practice. You can load up some snap caps or spent cases and dry fire a LOT. Watch your front sight and if it is moving when the hammer drops, practice until that movement is almost eliminated. If you are jerking the trigger, it will be very obvious. With snap caps you can also practice your reloads until they are fluid. Lots of repetitions. Fiddle with the holster until it doesn't interfere with drawing or reholstering. Or replace it with a different one. Then practice your draw, a lot. Hundreds of repetitions isn't a lot. Start slow, focus on the mechanics of not sweeping your support hand and not getting your finger on the trigger prematurely when you come up on target, then start to focus on having the sights fairly well aligned by the time you come up on target, then focus on minimal movement of the sights as you squeeze the trigger. There are free downloadable shot timers for smart phones. Download one, set it to give a start beep after a random delay, and a stop beep after the par time that you set. After you get the basics down as described above, start doing them on the clock. Best of luck (though with more prep, you won't be depending on luck).

Qualified today at RTSP , total cake walk.Qualified with 2 guns. Could not have been easier. 1 guy did fail for not safely handling his weapon. Its refreshing to see them enforcing the safety first aspect as it should be.

3 inch model 36 S&W J frame in very good condition. Pinned. From about 1981. Appears to be a barely shot safe queen and shoots well. Beautiful old-school blueing. Comes with Pachmayer compact grips for concealable full grip plus a set of clip grips for concealed carry now that's a thing. Can come with one box of ammo free.

I’d go with “This establishment allows all Constitutional activities”. Or similar. Makes it harder for the counterprotesters who will show up to figure out what to protest.

Get a new holster, kydex IWB or OWB...try crossbreed holsters, it will make reholsetting a cinch..... and practice, your age should not be your liability, physical incapacities aside if they exist. We look forward to your report, and passing the qual. And as others have said...practice....shooting effectively is a perishable skill... I shoot probably twice a month, maybe more...and while I am getting my.paperwork together I am practicing...and practicing some more... not just for the qual, but for life. You CAN do this, but if you have in your mind you cannot, then you will not. Burn it into your mind that you can and will.do this, and practice....

First step is to get rid of the permit to purchase (keep).
  16. 1 point
He's right (for the wrong reason), but so did everybody else presuming you were all doing the class in preparation for getting your permit to carry a handgun. Your FID does nothing for you with regard to a handgun, except allow you to buy ammo for it. You need a PCH to carry a handgun, nothing less. The fire department is not an exempt location so travelling there with a handgun would have been a felony if you were caught. If the instructor can't get that well established bit of the law right, how much do you trust him on use of force laws?

Great little rifle. You'll be happy with it. And it's not an "evil, black, weapon of war". LOL. Idiots.

A hit on the edge of the target at 25 yards is a hit inside the edge at all distances shorter than 25 yards. A hit on the edge of the target at 7 yards is a hit on a bystander at least 2 people's widths to the side of the target at 25 yards. Who would find that acceptable?

That's not what the statute and administrative code says. Let's stop overthinking this.

The private places law will be overuled in court because it is a 1st and 2nd amendment violation. It violates the 1st because it would be compelled speech which is also not allowed. As far as the orgs fighting these things pick your acronym and send money. FPC, GOA, ANJPRC, CNJFO, NJ2AS

Wish we saw more of that re: gun free zones or prohibited carry. Now that's a common sense firearms law I could get behind: you prohibit it, you're liable for death and damages.

Legal or not, leaving guns in an unattended car is a bad idea.
