9 pointsAs has been stated, the reason for the denial is important. I was denied in 2018, purely on the grounds of lack of justifiable need. My criminal and mental health records were fine. My references said I was fine. The judge mentioned the TRO my ex-wife arranged for me during our divorce, which was dismissed a week after it was issued, and he said that was not a concern. He only denied me for lack of JN. Since then I have been approved for an FID change of address, multiple handgun purchase permits, and OGAM exemption and all the NICS checks that go along with executing those handgun permits, as well a several long guns. Lack of JN is not an offense. Requiring JN was actually an offense. Declaring my denial has never caused any issues, including renewing my UT permit and getting a change of address on my NH one. Similarly, it wasn't an issue getting my PA LTCF. Stop letting NJ get into your head and making you assume the worst. Stockholm is a long, long way from here.

2 pointsYeah. That. If there is no extra charge, the worst case is you get free practice time. The best case is you get a qualification cert. Either way, you won't have to deal with that instructor after one more session.
-
2 pointsNice explanation. I can't wait to start ordering me some 30 round mags.

2 pointsHe sounds like a huckster, but if he's willing to bring you in and complete the 5 shot revolver qual free of charge then it might be worth it. If there's any additional charge (at all) I'd say bail and go to Shooters.
-
2 pointsI see that as a mixed bag. It's good it's scheduled virtually to reduce the impact to one's regular schedule, but I see it as yet another tactic to make it difficult and deter people. I would have trouble making time in my work schedule. No hearing should be required at all. Hope it goes well, looking forward to an update.

2 pointsI signed my mental health form at the Police Station in front of the clerk who received the application and she witnessed it. There was no spot for it to be notarized.

2 pointsWell here's an ATF agent confronted as a potential perp. Wonder how he liked it?

2 pointsOmg. You are permitted to make reasonable deviations from exempt locations. You need food fuel any necessities that are reasonable. You are exempt. If you have a fpid card. You can carry a long rifle all day everyday with you. Hell legally. You can walk down any roadway with a long gun and its legal. If you have first obtained a nj fpid card.

1 pointHonestly WTF is with the f ing hearing. these liberal aholes are trying to make it as difficult as possible to exercise your rights. Jump through hoops to have to go in front of a judge for what? So they can determine your moral character? The legal system is about as immoral as it gets and they get to judge our morality . fkn joke

1 pointWhat this says is that the circuit court isn't deciding on this. They have passed the buck back down for some lower court judge to put their name on a bad decision. Then it will be sent back up. Then they will likely pull a panel of three that will say yeah a mag ban is no bueno. Then they will say but no... and call for en banc. Then they can proceduraly drag that out for years. Then they will say mag ban fine. Then it will go back to the supreme court. I'm hoping that's not the way it goes, but it sure it looking like it. California will get full cap mags before we do... cause they are doing the same thing, but that means it is going back to St. Benitez.

1 pointEverytime someone says "I know guys in high places, I used to.., I have to kill you if I tell you where I worked.. blah blah blah ...", I turn around and run in other direction. Fng sc&mbags taking advantage of people.

1 point"We got our a** kicked by SCOTUS and we are sending this a** kicking down to district court so they can swallow pride and rule the mag ban unconstitutional". I am not a lawyer, but looks like its now District Court who need to rule mag ban as unconstitutional - i.e People get back to "normal" capacity mags like rest of the USA.

1 pointThe instructor that I know says that he hasn't seen anything from the AG to indicate that this is the case so he still includes the make, model and serial number from the weapon that you use to qualify. He also points out that he has talked to several lawyers who have suggested that you should qualify with each gun that you expect to carry. This way, if involved in a shooting you won't have to listen to some local prosecutor argue that you were not qualified with the gun that you used. Remember, the PD are the ones approving the permits but the attorneys are the ones who will be looking at the shootings. Just throwin' it out there . . .

1 pointI agree that a hearing shouldn't be required, but based on what she had told me last week about scheduling, i wasn't expecting a hearing until November.

1 pointCalled the Barracks this morning. Spoke with a Trooper in the FIU. He found my packet, reviewed it and verified it was complete. Gave me the info I needed to schedule an appointment for prints, which is about an hour away from home since I did not wish to wait several weeks for someplace closer. When I asked him, he was vague on the process moving forward. Pretty much I wait to be contacted.

1 pointCameron Green runs the Green Academy of Personal Protection. I believe his focus has shifted to more dog training. I see his posts on FB about training dogs. Not 100% sure if it's personal training or for others as well but that could be a starting point.

1 pointI plan to go in with one unwitnessed, and one witnessed, because my town is quite obstructionist and has played the 'we can't sign/only we can sign' game before. I'll also bring 1.5" and 2" passport photo sets because sending me away for the wrong photo size is just the kind of nonsense I expect them to pull. I'm planning to shoot the full HQC-1 course so they can't complain about that. I anticipate them then playing the 'we can't accept applications because we are awaiting guidance from the state' card that a few other departments seem to be falling back to. At least I'll have a strong case to take to the NJ Strikeforce lawyers.

1 pointI received my legacy firearms holster on Saturday and I have been wearing it every day since, at home obviously. Sitting, Standing, walking around, doing chores around the house, and this holster has been extremely comfortable. Of course, I have nothing to compare it to other then the blade tech, but the blade tech is an utter POS. Anyway, happy with it so far. I also ordered an paddle OWB from them but the paddle is a bit low resulting in the pistol tilting away from the body a bit. I have an email to them, waiting for a response. But craftsmanship on both holsters is very good.

1 pointNo. You need to dry fire* your ass off! 10-15 minutes a day is all you need. You can improve your administrative handling of the firearm (draw and re-holstering, loading, presentation) by a million percent without ever firing a shot simply by dedicating a few minutes a week to dry fire. Then go to the range and confirm your progress (identify any sustains and needs improvements) with live fire. To get the most out of it, you need to take notes about what is and isn’t working and what skills need low round maintenance practice and what skills are going to require ammo intensive skill building improvements. Then, when you go to the range, you need to go with a plan on what skills you are maintaining, what skills you are working on, and what skills still need to be evaluated. If you just go and shoot, you are wasting ammo/money - which is OK too, if your goal is to just have fun - I have days where I just blast away turning money into noise. But, when I want to improve a particular skill, I plan and document. * Follow all appropriate safety measures when you are dry firing - most importantly no ammo in the room, and a backstop that will stop rounds.

1 pointSeveral employees at Bob's Little Sport Shop in Glassboro told me the same thing. They said NJSP has told them that you only need to qualify with one pistol, then you can carry any other legally owned pistol.
