This did occur to me one day in Shoprite shortly after the ban started and I forgot to bring in a bag. Although my thought only went as far as getting the goods into the crates in the back of the SUV. But this wasn't hard to forecast. Customers are stealing shopping baskets instead of buying bags, N.J. supermarkets say - nj.com

Did this 3 weeks ago, my wife asked me to stop and get something, so I did, figured since I was there get something for myself, ice cream, chips, some snacks, go to check out and up no bag, put back in basket went to truck, put it in drove off. Got home, kids laughed, wife gave me dirty look. Got it home didn't I? Returned it next day when I drove by. If you return it, No harm No foul.

I typed up a letter that says "To whom it may concern: This letter serves as my certification that I am the lawful owner of the following handguns: " I signed and dated it and had my signature notarized. The trooper at my local station accepted it this morning. We had a long talk about the process and he said he wasn't sure why there was a requirement for proof of ownership, if I bought a gun legally in NJ he can look it up in the database. If I didn't, I can just write a letter which doesn't prove or disprove anything.

Sounds good! Let us know how you do! Shooting is a perishable skill - you definitely need to knock the rust off. Also now that you know how your qualifier was done you get rid of some of the nerves/jitters.

@gunforhire Anthony maybe on your upcoming podcast(s) your Legal Team @ ANJRPC can shed some light on what the 8/2 order from the appellate court on the mag ban case means for us common folk? Feel better! Thanks!

Honorable Rochelle Gizinksi 732-504-0700 X 64230 the Clerk is who will answer. He didn’t give me his name but very helpful. Keep us posted!

Nobody is arguing the definition of Remand. Just that the order is the 3rd circuit reacting to scotus remanding their decision. It is not the circuit remanding to the district.

You don't need anything else. A notarized declaration of ownership is an alternative if you don't have copies of the executed PtPP forms or a receipt from the purchase.

It may also be illegal to charge more than $2.50 per notarial act. As a notary the state only allows me to charge $2.50 per act.

Just glad my PD approved it. But he says Middlesex county backed up with apps. No timeline, so not sure how long it will take. He also said carry prmit going to up in price and new laws coming after Jan.

I read it differently, and typically a remand would mention the lower court it's being remanded to for clarity. The order references SCOTUS actions, not the circuits. Based on SCOTUS actions, the original opinion was vacated, and the remand will lead to further proceedings.... aka they will rehear the case. I dont beleive they can just change their opinion. Since scotus remanded the cases, the opinion must first be vacated, then it will be reheard using the original arguments, possibly leading to a updated opinion. Also, I beleive there is a more "proper" way to remand a case back down to lower courts. I dont beleive they can just pen an order stating it is remanded. The court would accept the case, typically read the oral arguments, and either grant the case, uphold lower courts or remand. A remand also typically has instructions to the lower court as to what they possibly did wrong.

Right. But the way it is worded the circuit court is recalling their decision because scotus vacated and remanded. SCOTUS is the court that is remanding.

I agree 100% but we also have to understand that in the civilized world, the right course of action is lawsuits. Now that great Justice Thomas directly quoted "permit abuse" in the Bruen opinion, it should open more doors for lawsuits when combined with the 30 day directive.

Yes, and unneutered AR's. Flim-Flam Florio gave us N.J.'s AWB in 1990 (four years before the Clinton AWB). He got bounced out on his ass after one term but the AWB remains. (Dems didn't have ballot drop boxes and voting that went on for weeks back then).

Big update for Ocean County. Called the court. Talked to the Judges Law Clerk. Once she approves them she then sends them back to local PD for local PD to deliver to us. He didn’t see my name in her list she currently needs to approve, but he said that could be because she may have already approved it and sent back to local PD. He said call back in a couple weeks if I hadn’t heard anything but they are approving them! Super nice guy and very helpful!

What I heard and read is, 60 days for the PD (law / admin code) and 30 days for courts (courts directive from 2019). How long its been since your app was sent to court ?

My understanding is if you take the annuity payments (typically 30 years) you wind up with the most money. More total payout and less taxable income every year. Of course you have to live that long to collect it. So your age may factor in. With the annuity, I'm wondering if your outstanding payments become part of your estate if you die. If yes and you're not greedy in this life, you could pass on the balance to your heir(s). If you did that, just watch your six.

@Mr.Stu Good catch. You and I would think types = pistol or revolver. I wonder if that's actually what the courts implemented. Hard to see what else it could mean. But... it's New Jersey, where the 'law' means what they want it to mean! @Tunaman Now that rings a bell. I seem to remember threads from a few years ago where that was exactly the case. Security guards could carry to and from work, and at work, but no where else. Back in the days when justifiable need ruled out anywhere else! Thank you both. I'll wait to see if we get concrete examples of both your points.

Reading that part you underlined carefully, it says types of handgun. Make, model, caliber and serial number is a specific handgun, not a type. Semi-auto or revolver would be types.

I tend to agree with a prior poster that it's the reason for the denial. I also suspect we may see more applications returned versus rejected where the application is deemed "incomplete" in the case that new standardized requirements are announced and applied and pending applications do not meet the requirements. This was always an inherent risk on being an early applicant. I just wish the process was a little more transparent on status. Confirmation of an accepted complete application would be helpful as a start, simply to make the applicant aware of whether anything else is needed.

As has been stated, the reason for the denial is important. I was denied in 2018, purely on the grounds of lack of justifiable need. My criminal and mental health records were fine. My references said I was fine. The judge mentioned the TRO my ex-wife arranged for me during our divorce, which was dismissed a week after it was issued, and he said that was not a concern. He only denied me for lack of JN. Since then I have been approved for an FID change of address, multiple handgun purchase permits, and OGAM exemption and all the NICS checks that go along with executing those handgun permits, as well a several long guns. Lack of JN is not an offense. Requiring JN was actually an offense. Declaring my denial has never caused any issues, including renewing my UT permit and getting a change of address on my NH one. Similarly, it wasn't an issue getting my PA LTCF. Stop letting NJ get into your head and making you assume the worst. Stockholm is a long, long way from here.
