By the time you pay for the application, prints, qualification, photos, and notarization, your wallet will be considerably thinner.

We've had NJ2AS established from the NJ Gun Forums way in the past - Unfortunately there was a big change in leadership there and some of the members created CNJFO from the ashes. NJ2AS still exists but they are not the grassroots 2A org that they used to be, and visibility and accountability is a big reason why a lot of NJ2AS members left the organization. That's where CNJFO comes in - We do events all over the state - from Tony Simon's The 2nd is for Everyone (2A4E) Diversity shoots, to our own youth education shoots, social events, hunting events, sporting clays tournaments, etc. CNJFO works hand in hand with the big names in the state (ANJRPC, SAF, GOA, etc.) as well as the big lawsuits out there (as Rosey mentioned in his big copy/paste from one of the CNJFO press releases). I'm certain our treasurer would fulfill your request... After being a member for several years, I've actually stepped up to become an Executive Board member of CNJFO fairly recently. We're all in it for the proper fight! The money that comes in goes out 100% to support 2A education and fighting the legislation!

Update: Picked up the permit. For those of us in Morris County The Hon. Thomas Critchley attaches a Court Order that must be carried along with the Permit that list the firearm(s) you qualified with. Disappointing..... but hopefully once the system gets tired of this redundant part of the process and removes the Judge from having to sign off..... stuff like this will disappear

We Shoot, Swarthmore Ave Lakewood and Shooters on 539 in Little Egg Harbor, two good ranges with qualifying courses.

My goodness, the level of helplessness is astounding. If you can’t even figure out what range to go to on your own, wait until you have to decide on what holster to get….

Just show up at this point and explain you tried.

If it's not a racket, then they should let non NRA members shoot there. The NRA controls who can and cannot join ranges. That, my friend, is a racket. It is exactly the same as being forced to join a union to get certain jobs.
  10. 2 points
Is not a mafia racket… there’s a huge part of the NRA dedicated to instruction and sanction competitions and that is why most clubs are affiliated. It may be hard to believe for you but not everything is politics.

Passed my qualification at gun for hire today. I spoke with Anthony who is a super cool guy. I thanked him from all of us for fighting the good fight. As of now, he hasn't heard of anyone in Middlesex or somerset County being issued a permit but he said he'll continue fighting. He also hooked me up with a signed copy of his book. I plan on finishing the paperwork tomorrow and dropping it off Friday at the police station.

Back on the original point of the thread - I emailed OBRPC's membership address yesterday, they replied today that they ask members to join, but DO NOT REQUIRE NRA membership. On my way to applying for membership there.

I knew I was going to get it from Day 1. Clarence Thomas made it almost bulletproof! You will get it now doubt, just do what they ask and follow the rules and it will happen! Good luck brother! #FJB

Some of these stories are giving me hope. I just assume they're finding any reason to send these back

Same document came with Ocean County. I took a picture of it with my phone and will carry that way. I laminated it at Staples and I have it filed at home. If you carry a piece of paper it will be destroyed in no time from wear and tear. The Judge actually cut it for me. I handed in 2”.

You're welcome! Glad to see you're looking into CNJFO more. ANJRPC is definitely the big dog in the room. That being said, CNJFO is the largest Grassroots pro-2A org in the state. While ANJRPC is putting in the lawsuits and doing the big work, we're supporting them by bringing funding, as well as educating new shooters and bringing more people into the fold to become part of the fight.

I had to show my walgreens how to do it, as they initially told me they couldn't change the size. If they are like my walgreens, there is a computer they use at the photo desk. When they select the passport photo option, the passport photo menu/screen pops up. In the top right corner of that screen is a little drop down menu where it will say 'US Passport 2x2' or something to that effect. Click the drop down menu and scroll down til you see Argentina passport, 38mm I believe is the size. They take your photo, make sure it fits, hit print, done. All 4 photos will show up on 1 print, as opposed to US size photos showing 2 per print. Worst part is they charge $15 for this... $15 for one photo. But, ya know, communism. Anyway, easy as that. Just be super polite and tell them you have a friend that got them done at walgreens and they told you Yada Yada yada..

The new Chief Dave Young is a good guy. Ive never had a problem getting a permit and its a quick turn around, They also did my prints for my Fla ccw. They do it for residents.Which is not common these days in most towns. For PCH i have to use the sub contractor for electronic prints which is fine

I lived in Wharton for almost 10 years. They've always been good regarding firearms-related stuff. Every time I needed a pistol permit, they would pull my old paperwork and tell me who I previously used as "references" so that they could re-use their previous responses and expedite issuance of the permit.

That answers my question about Morris county court . Mine Hill/Wharton PD is in general easy to deal with. Im going to start the process. Congrats !

ANJRPC is the NJ State branch of the NRA. Perhaps you're unaware of how much support ANJRPC gets from the NRA and NRA-ILA.

As long as you call your PD to make an appointment to drop off your paperwork they cannot refuse! December! That's a bunch of baloney! They are playing games with you.

These are all GOOD thought provoking comments. That everyone needs to think about and rehearse as well as the myriad other scenarios. Example..your in a restaurant with your family...your armed...someone comes in to stick up the joint....it's your turn to hand over your wallet.... what do you do? The correct answer is hand over your wallet....

I'm not saying anyone has a duty to protect anyone else. I can only speak to my own ideals. It is established that police have no duty to protect. As a society, when our bonds to each other are strong, then the social fabric is strong. That is why the cliche is smaller towns are more likely to help their fellow man then big dense cities. I am not telling anyone what they should do in the circumstance of an active shooter and no cops are around. What I know is if my family is at a mall and I'm not there, I damn sure hope a good guy with a gun makes an attempt to save my family if they are in direct danger. Anyone in the same situation would presumably want the same. Is there the possibility they hit the wrong person? Sure. But who here, would actually choose the alternative of "Id rather my family die than risk a good guy with a gun hitting them by accident"? Maybe its the Marine in me talking, but if I'm the only one around that can help. I don't know if I can walk away. I wouldn't judge anyone for choosing differently (unless it is literally their job... looking at you Uvalde)

Part of carrying is being prepared and making the good decisions. There is what is right and there is real life. In a perfect world they should coincide. Many defense attorneys agree, if the gun you used is the one you qualified with it is one less thing for the prosecutor to use against you. I get it, "It shouldnt matter! There is nothing in the law that says I can't use another gun" and I wholeheartedly agree. But in the spirit of covering your bases and looking out for all angles of attack while going about your life, the same could be said about legally, are you making the prosecutors job easier or harder to convince a jury (that is ignorant of firearms) of your guilt? If you want to be that test case, no one is stopping you, and you could walk away unscathed, if its worth the risk to you, then live your life, carry how you like. So for me, I will only carry what I qualified with. Because after seeing the Rittenhouse trial and seeing the bullshit the prosecutor will fling at you, itll be one less thing to worry about. It also helps I qualified with three guns, so I have options, lol

Since you qualify twice annually, I am assuming you have an RPO permit. Governed by a completely different set of NJ laws with some federal laws thrown in. They're two different kinds of carry permits.

+ 1. Make sure you know what's behind the target and 'include' innocent bystanders! Take real training. With increase of incidents they will make every attempt to revoke privileges.

I don't want to be a wet blanket here... But understand the gravity of the situation...the responsibility you have, and the burden. This is not a game.....you are carrying a deadly weapon in public....in a state that hates guns, among sheeple.......who dont think you should be. Think about that a lot....because, all this comes with great responsibility, restraint, situational awareness and a lot of luck that you will not ever have to draw that weapon- because if you do your life is for ever changed. Carry safely and don't go looking for the shit....

We DO care about going into court, govt building or school (note its not just some kindergarden, its high schools, educational institutes, colleges, school grounds and lot more etc). I care about going to library and taking advantage of reading books that my tax payer dollars pay for. I want to be able to go lobby of my PD and conduct business as usual without having to be treated like criminal. I want to be able to go for a walk, jog and do other normal, free person does everyday on public college grounds if I happen to live near by. Point is, why am I (and you, and millions of law abiding) need to be punished unfairly for some "public safety, sensitive location" crap ? They want to secure public safety, make it a mandatory death penalty for anyone who illegally uses firearms and commits murders, regardless of location. I will be ok with that. Either one is in Govt's care and Govt guarantees safety of the person or one is FREE and can exercise 2A as they see fit and protect themselves. Cannot have stuff in the middle.

Honestly? I love a good afternoon of shopping. But I would not want to shop in a mall that was promoting/advertising the vulnerability of its shoppers. We have plenty of evidence by this point of mass shooters passing by hard targets and driving a little further down the road for a "soft target". So, why would I want to spend my time in a soft target? This is just dumb.

On the contrary, in my response I stated that while they are free to choose how they do business, as the consumer you are free to choose not to do business with them and instead support business that do support our rights in this state. Freedom is sometimes a knife that cuts both ways. Just because you don't like how an entity does business doesn't mean you aren't free to do business with companies that will.

You reminded me. When I went in there and asked for prints, for FL ccw, almost 20 years ago, they had no clue what I was talking about. They did it for me but I remember the look of bewilderment.
