3 pointsYou don't have to refuse the permit, just vocalize that you refuse the restrictions, then lawyer up.

3 pointsThe best thing, IMO, is to get as many applications approved by the local PD's and sent to the courts as possible. The larger the number of apps is, the better it will be for a class-action type of suit to end these arbitrary restrictions by judges.

3 pointsI think it would be amazing to see the SCOTUS force compliance of some sort. The problem is that they did not address sensitive places and sensitive places are now being used to ban carry almost everywhere. In my opinion "sensitive places" should only be allowed / defined lawful by the following: 1. Everyone within the facility passes through a metal detector / security entrance in order to gain access. (For example a courthouse) AND 2. There are armed police / security within the facility that are responsible for your safety / security within the facility. Any other twisted idea of a "sensitive place" is simply a result of delusional thinking.... If the state cannot take responsibility of protecting you within this "sensitive place" and guarantee that potential aggressors are not armed than the state should not be able to take away your right to bear arms for self defense outside the home within the area, building, facility ext.

3 pointsThe 2A attorneys are going to paint the following picture for the court, and after which, the court will find in our favor. A PTC holder parks in a mall parking lot, opens his trunk, removes his concealed carry gun, unloads it, leans into his trunk, and locks everything up. Four potential outcomes: 1) While disarming himself, unable to focus on his surroundings, he is jumped by a bad guy, forced to give up the gun, and potentially beaten up or even worse. Now a stolen gun is out on the streets. 2) Car is broken into and a stolen gun is on the streets. 3) The bad guy follows the good guy home, jumps him, forces him into his house, and robs other guns the guy may have. More stolen guns on the street. 4) Permit holder forgets his gun is in the trunk. Car either gets broken into, or car gets serviced and gun is taken from trunk. Common outcome is that the stupid restrictions result in more stolen guns on the street. In the interest of public safety, the restrictions are rescinded.

2 pointsSure, it took 69 tries... and it sounds like this might be hard to repeat... but still, pretty damn remarkable if you ask me! I thought you precision rifle shooters might enjoy reading this, if you hadn't already seen it: New World Record Set for Farthest Long-Range Rifle Shot: 4.4 Miles (msn.com)

2 pointsAgreed, I’ve invested too much time, money and energy into the process to start from scratch. I believe things will eventually be ironed out and everyone will be on the same page. This is all new and there will definitely be hiccups down the road. That doesn’t mean said hiccups are written in stone.

2 pointsHere’s the deal. The restrictions are not reasonable. There is no consistency between counties. It’s a total cluster. Legal challenges are in the works regarding these restrictions. Any reasonable court will overturn this BS. You can go ahead and pull your app, deny the restrictions, etc, but I’ll get mine. Several months down the road, this will all be worked out. Meanwhile, you’ll still be holding your app in your hand, your qualifications will expire in six months, and you’ll be back to square one. An appeals court will order the AG to issue an amendment to drop the car carry restriction, and current permit holders will be happy campers.

2 pointsNot at all. At first thought, your instinct might be to think "finally, i got a NJ carry permit!!!, ill accept it no matter what". However, with those restrictions, it has the same effect as simply not having one. Most of us in NJ use cars for transport, not bus and train, at least not the same way people do in NYC. Most of our errands and little trips are in a car. None of us are going to carry to the car, trunk it, arrive at our destination, untrunk it and holster up. Not to mention, constantly repeating that process with a loaded and chambered firearm on a regular basis greatly increases our chance of a negligent discharge. In all aspects of life, when some process becomes so routine, we get more comfortable and pay less attention to what we're doing. It's kinda like how most guys can change TV channels with the remote without even looking. Sometimes we accidentally turn on CNN when we really intended to watch Fox news. And while a negligent discharge can plausibly be blamed on the processes we are required to follow due to these restrictions and will look bad on the judges that issued them, it WILL look bad on us too. Its beyond ridiculous. They are restrictions without justification and a literal nullification of our permit. When the judges or prosecutors coming up with these restrictions are made to answer as to their reasoning when issuing these restrictions, I can't imagine they will have a good or believable or logical bit of explanation. But the point is, we cant allow this to be "commonly accepted". Think about the AR15.... It was neither around nor a conceivable thought at the time the second amendment was written. BUT, they are so commonly owned and in use in the 2A community that it will be hard to ban them. There is a "common use" doctrine if I recall. I don't remember if that was from the DC or Chicago case. HOWEVER, doctrine like that can work both ways. We can't allow these restrictions to be "commonly accepted" or there is some risk they could be construed as acceptable by the courts. And think about the way the courts work: We fight it at the NJ Supreme Court level and likely lose... bc its NJ We appeal to federal courts. I don't think the courts in this circuit are 2A friendly from what I recall. We lose there too. We try to get this heard before the Supreme Court. - Here's the thing. The SCOTUS picks and chooses what cases they hear. They are 9 justices with finite capacity. They cannot possibly hear all cases that are proposed. There's actually a process by which they choose which cases they hear and even though conservative leaning now, they don't often hear gun cases. If they don't hear this case, I believe we are bound by the decisions of the lower courts. Lets not go there. DON'T ACCEPT IT. For your own good and that of the rest of the NJ 2A community.

2 pointsHow exactly were they supposed to do that? Republicans haven't controlled N.J. state government since 2001- twenty one years.. Christie was the only republican gov since then and vetoed every crackpot gun law the dems tried to push through. Thats about as good as it gets unless republicans win back the Senate, Assembly and Governorship. Fat chance of that happening anytime soon with N.J. demographics and ballot box corruption in the major cities

1 pointUkraine is huge in agriculture. There is a lot of history about how the Soviets would make them grow crops and then they'd take the harvest to Russia and sell the rest on the export market. Do a search on Holodomor.

1 pointAgree, I thought about it too...Unfortunately when we submitted our apps we had no way of predicting what each judge would do...No way i am starting from scratch now, there it as least some value in having the permit even with restrictions. The only restriction which impacts me in any (material) way is the driving one. That is so outrageous it will never hold up. So what happens then, best case we do not have to do anything, the restriction becomes null and void - period. Worst case we have to go through some administrative BS (and maybe even get a lawyer) to have our permits "upgraded"....
-
1 pointI don't disagree with you, at all. You may very well be right. But, I won't take it for granted. This is our one shot to get it right or we could be F'd for the next 100 years. As such, that would be my reasoning for refusal or pull the app or whatever. And the lefties, as malicious and hateful as they are, can be somewhat calculating. Its a calculated hate. History has proven that truth and "right" does not always equal "win" and "justice". Otherwise, justifiable need would've been thrown out ages ago.

1 pointI just don’t get flustered by this stuff. Some counties are doing whatever they can to turn people away and delay the process. My thinking is screw the court, give me my permit, and I’ll be the one laughing when they get bitch slapped for trying to impose unreasonable and unsafe restrictions. The courts know this won’t hold up, but will do anything to appease the lefties. They can then say well at least we tried.
-
1 pointNo its not. Im not one to cower down or let someone trample on me. Im no ones bitch. Bull headed F them lefties

1 pointWhy refuse it? Isn’t that counterproductive? Get the permit and let the lawyers fight it out. I’m sure amendments will follow later after it shakes out. We’re not going to get perfection out of the gate.

1 pointDick Heller texted me this late last night. Been so busy with NJ gun laws BS I haven't had a chance to read it. Guess I better get on it. Yes, we chat often. He's working on a book and asked for some help. Rosey

1 pointI don't know if this is a general hack, or if I just got lucky, but after I was unable to book an appointment in NJ, I called the IdentoGO scheduling number. They can look out more than the 7 days allowed by the website. They still didn't show anything in NJ until mid-Oct. He said the earliest available in Springfield was Oct 13. So I reluctantly accepted an afternoon appointment in Chester, NY a week from now. I received the confirming email, clicked the 'reschedule' link, re-entered my NJ zip code, and suddenly there were a lot of open NJ appointments for firearms fingerprinting, 70 or 80 in Springfield, as early as tomorrow. So I rescheduled for after work on Thursday. Saved $40, an hour less driving, and I don't have to miss work. It may be that once you have an out-of-state appointment, and reschedule for NJ, the software interprets the out-of-state appointment to mean you don't live in NJ, and so it unlocks all of the appointments that had been hidden. It's worth a try, if you are having trouble getting an appointment. If it works for you, let us know!

1 pointDon't overthink it. Pay the extra $40 and do it in either PA or NY the next day. There are some in this thread who have done out of state prints and already have their permit. I did mine out of state and no problems. Still waiting on the permit but the detective in my town told me he got the prints back and all was good. PA appointment, NJ address, $40 out of state fee.

1 pointI had no issue reading the title it says felony "defendants". I dont see how this would lead to anything considered "backlash", if anything we should be arguing with the judge that until due process is completed the individual retains their rights... they can still vote under indictment after all.

1 pointMy NJ driver's license is valid in all 50 states and all U.S. territories. Driving a vehicle isn't a Constitutional right. Carrying a firearm for lawful purposes is.

1 pointOh please like the NJ republican party is really any better. What about that lardass whale Chris Christie? Or any of the other "republicans" that got voted in...they were prompt at putting an end to the crap with the loss of gun rights, right? Jack I believe got a B or B+ from the NRA which while better than bucky he might have prevented some of these new idiot laws, however he wouldn't have relaxed any gun laws. Singh might have managed to relax a few things but he never made it to the running. Face it, its like part of the oath these clowns take is is they must stomp on gun owners rights.

1 pointJust taking a guess, but the files may be too large. They have to be under 26Mb. If it is possible, set the camera to a lower resolution, that will crunch the image down to something manageable. Most of the photos I post are no larger than 2 to 5 mb

1 pointIf you're not having any luck finding a place, and you're willing to take a drive up to the Lakewood area on a weeknight, then get in touch with me and I'll be your "buddy" for an evening so you can rent at the Weshoot range. I'm always looking for an excuse to go to the range.
