Just wanted to give update regarding Ocean County permits. According to FB group Ocean County CCW, at least 2 more individuals received their permit this week, both have the court order attached with the 12 restrictions. Also saw someone from Westfield (I know, not OC) claiming to have received their permit this week with no restrictions or court order other than being told he can only carry the guns he qualified. Some other info from Ocean County, one gentleman says he spoke with Ms Kimberly Nye at OCSC and was given his GP number which was #500 (actual gp number is GP-OCN-500-22), meaning the county has received 500+ PTC apps so far for 2022, and he claims she told him they are working on app #100, so he can expect his permit in 6 to 8 weeks as they work through the list. I was just thinking about how this Ocean county judge appears to be discriminating against the entire county, saying they cannot receive the same permit as someone from bergen, or Warren County. She is also attaching this order with no court hearing. If there are limitations placed on your PTC, is the judge not required to give justification as to why your permit must be issued differently than the next county's permit. I understand the statute allowing discretion to place limitations, but I could have sworn the judge had to explain to the applicant why these limitations are being placed on them. I am aware strikeforce is on it, and CNJFO, and nappen.... but after receiving your Ocean county permit with the attached court order, couldn't you make a request to be seen by the judge to be given clarification for you limitations? Wouldn't the judge have to explain why you as an Ocean county resident must be treated differently than a Warren County resident? Just trying to think outside the box a bit here. My thoughts are they aren't requiring a hearing because they don't want to allow the order to be questioned, on record, by the applicant. All in all, I'd expect the judges answer of "because I say so, I have the legal discretion, and public health and safety"... but for that to be on record could be very helpful. Thoughts? Thanks for reading my short novel btw.

@Lucky Lefty I'm a member of both organizations. I'm the CNJFO Vice President and a fellow Board member with @Krdshrk. Asking which one to join is almost like asking to pick which child to throw into the volcano, lol. Both organizations have a niche. CNJFO supports firearms education in a BIG way. Tonight Krdshrk and I will be at the Union Hill Gun Club on Union Hill Road in Monroe Twp., NJ to instruct new shooters from all walks of life how to safely handle and shoot pistols and rifles at Tony Simon's "The 2nd is for Everyone: Diversity Shoot". A commitment which dates back to almost the beginning of Simon's efforts about 7-8 years ago. Tony's website needs a bit of updating, but you can tell he's the real deal: https://www.DiversityShoot.com . CNJFO ran a sold-out Youth Educational Program last Saturday (also at Union Hill GC). CNJFO supports The DC Project - Women for gun rights, a national group of women firearm owners that goes to Washington, DC and pounds on doors to let Legislators know that bad gun laws hurt legal gun owners by restricting gun rights and the bad guys don't follow gun laws EVER. CNJFO partners with several state and national organizations to provide both a voice and funding for ongoing lawsuits. We're currently running a "Matching Funds" Campaign for Jay Factor's case as Krdshrk mentioned. That's just the tip of the iceberg! ANJRPC's niche is more on the legal / lawsuit side of things in addition to running the Cherry Ridge Range in Highland Lakes, NJ. ANJRPC members get to call lawyers on retainer to ask questions and get answers. They have a paid staffer that attends every gun hearing in Trenton. They publish "News & Briefs" 6x a year, and one copy gets mailed to you every two months with your membership. CNJFO is proud to partner with ANJRPC as a "Member Club", and we advertise in News & Briefs. ANJRPC was the beneficiary of CNJFO's very first "Matching Funds" Campaign to raise legal expense monies for their Rogers lawsuit. $5,500 was donated (see photo). As @DirtyDigz said, you really should be a member of both great organizations. Not everyone is on Facebook, but if you are (or know someone who is), check us out at https://www.facebook.com/cnjfo Dave "Rosey" Rosenthal, VP https://www.cnjfo.com/join-us

NJS 2C:58-4. Permits to carry handguns a. Scope and duration of authority. Any person who holds a valid permit to carry a handgun issued pursuant to this section shall be authorized to carry a handgun in all parts of this State, except as prohibited by section 2C:39-5e. One permit shall be sufficient for all handguns owned by the holder thereof, but the permit shall apply only to a handgun carried by the actual and legal holder of the permit. BUT… NJAC 13:54-2.7 Issuance of a permit to carry a handgun (a) Upon being satisfied of the sufficiency of the application and the fulfillment of the provisions of Chapter 58, Laws of 1979, the judge shall issue a permit. (b) The court may, at its discretion, issue a limited type permit which would restrict the applicant as to the types of handguns he or she may carry and where and for what purposes such handguns may be carried.

1998? Things are much different now. NICS... is INSTANT.. The only reason it takes long in NJ is because they made it, even then it's only max a couple days at its worst. Pre pandemic, NJ NICS took an hour or two. That argument wouldn't fly anymore if challenged.

Good information Lucky...On your idea, I personally wouldn't ask for a hearing, unfortunately, I don't think you questioning the judge has any upside (only possible downside)...Napen's associate told me last week that a Law Suit is in progress but it takes time to escalate it up the system. I can't imagine any individual at their personal hearing (even if they have a lawyer present) will do better than the Law suite to get this injustice rectified... Your idea is a "noble" one, but imo, not a good risk reward situation for you...Of course if you decide to do it you will have our hopes and prayers with you, FWIW.

For those of you wanting to call, here is the most up to date list of names and numbers. They all use the 504-0700 number. Judge Rochelle Gizinski, J.S.C. – 732-504-0700 Ext 64230 Cheryl A. Zollo, Secretary, Ext 64221 Lisa Russo-Spencer, Court Clerk Reece McGovern, Law Clerk, Ext 64222 Kimberly Nye Ext 64276 I've spoken with Reece, very nice but couldn't help. Spoke with Cheryl, also very nice and she gave me Kim's name and extension. Realizing that Strikeforce is on this, may or may not be a good idea but a friendly call shouldn't hurt. I emailed Strikeforce to let t hem know I am over 60 days at the court, haven't heard back yet.

So given that I applied in early July, and expect my permit sometime this week, I guess I should start my renewal process in approximately 20 months to maintain continuous coverage.

I read the Ocean County order and at the top of the page there is mention of the prosecutor's office not finding anything. So apparently the judge is being redundant, no shock there. We background check for an FID, then for a pistol permit and yet again at the point of purchase. I like how they do it in one of the Carolina's, if you have a carry permit, no NICs needed for gun purchase.

I'm not in favor of filing a lawsuit like that now. 1998 Adler v, Livak. Adler sued Franklin Twp. police chief Livak because he took longer than the 30 days required by law to issue a firearms ID card. The court ruled that police departments do not have to issue an FID card within 30 days even though that's what the law says. The reasoning was basically that it takes a long time to do a background check so the police can take longer than 30 days. Issuing carry permits to the masses is brand new in NJ and police departments and the courts are legitimately overwhelmed right now. Eventually, a better system will be put in place and they won't be as overwhelmed. If we file a law suit right now, there is a legitimate argument that they can't do the background checks required by law and also follow the 60 day law. I think we would lose that case based on the "it just takes longer than 60 days" argument. If we lose in court now, case law is established and the 60 day rule is gone forever. If we wait to file a law suit until things calm down and there is no longer a legitimate reason for the delays, we might win the case - although in NJ, it's still a long shot.

Also - with the in-ear plugs - are you sure they were in correctly? I've seen so many people just kinda put them on the outside of their ears and it doesn't do squat.

How would you characterize a large organization whose agents show up around dawn with 20+ people in armored vehicles with full auto weapons drawn to arrest multiple individuals still in their pajamas, or in front of their children? Oh, and sometimes they even alert specific media to ensure coverage of their 'event'. And those arrested are always in opposition to the organizations command structure and policies.

According to FB page Middlesex County CCW, a gentleman claims he spoke to a "Veronica" and she said the judge has "signed a few" and is having trouble getting to the permits amongst busy court schedule. One gentleman from Middlesex chimed in and said his permit has been at the court since July 19 and it's been crickets. After skimming through the page, I did not find anyone claiming to have received their permit yet.

Well, at least we know something is coming out of Middlesex County.....I was told I would not have to appear unless there is a denial. In the case of "joseph kent smith" it appears that there was intent to deny by the court.

Former NJ Gov. Jim Florio, Dead at 85. I recall a political cartoon in the newspapers (I forget the artist), but it's a picture of Sadam Hussein. In the first frame, he's standing all Narcissistic in front of a mirror: And in the second frame, you see him totally pissed off and yelling in a phone....

What kind of DV incident did you have which you are so concerned with? Where you convicted of something, charge initially then the charge were dropped, or just a formal complaint with no charges?

Another update: NJSP FIU received my permit from the court on Sept 16 and put it in the NJSP inter-office mail to NJSP Washington Station the same day. It still isn't there. I asked the trooper that answered the phone to see if she could call around and see where the heck it had got to which she agreed to do. While she was doing that, I reached out the the Detective Sgt. at the FIU that I had spoken with previously to see if there was anything he could do. The Det. Sgt. texted me back after a few hours to let me know that he had traced my permit to NJSP Sussex! Flipping Sussex! He is getting a trooper to drive it back down to Washington so hopefully I'll have it in my hand in the next day or two.

Exactly. Facebook is a red-herring in this case. The police report over a domestic incident is the issue.

In my OPINION, if this even happened as stated, it was because this gentleman already had an investigative file on him with the county PO that contained questionable information --- in my OPINION, there is no way any county PO in NJ has the time and/or resources to do a deep dive like this for several hundred applicants in 30-35 days.

Sussex approved a batch including mine. They’ve been sent to various PDs. Unlike Mr Stu’s they actually sent direct to the Barracks and not to FIU. Cautiously optimistic. Next to get permit and order in hand to see if it has any of the restrictions.

Honestly it's all archived anyway. Theres probably a lot more to this story. Regardless though it's SOMETHING out of Middlesex County. That looks even worse. I'm not panicking. Worst case scenario Law Shield has some work to do.

I am a member of both ANJRPC and CNJFO (also a CNJFO Board member). Both orgs are on the frontlines fighting the fight. ANJRPC's strikeforce has been doing great work trying to keep municipalities and counties in line. There's lawsuits fighting the Mag cap, AWB, and more. CNJFO is right there supporting the ANJRPC's fights, as well as helping fund additional fights - Jay Factor's Case #087269 is working on getting rid of the individual case-by-case review for approval of NJ Carry Permits. Ultimately - it's your decision where to donate - it will all go to a great cause. The ANJRPC is NJ's NRA affiliate - they're the big dogs in the room... CNJFO - we're the largest and busiest 2A Grassroots org in the state. Stepping into the CNJFO role for a bit - we could definitely use the help! We're all volunteers in this org - so people stepping up to go to events, or even help with planning, etc. would be greatly appreciated!

Moving this to the Burlington Section: Burlington County Update: Had everythng completed and Police sent in packet (They were awesome in dealing with this process) on Monday the 22nd of August. Just got contacted by my Police Department yesterday the 26th of September to update me on my permit process. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Judge contacted the Police Department and requested actual finger prints and actual criminal history report (if any). My Police Department has request in to State Police on how to handle since they cannot send sensitive stuff like that through the mail. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ I guess the police doing a background investigation and the prosecutor doing the same is not good enough for the Judge? My record is clean as the driven snow so I have no worries but the checking, double checking and the triple checking is a bit too much guys and gals! The STATE of New Jersey needs to look at Florida or Utah's process and increase it from a 2 year permit to 5 year permit. This is such a waste of time, money and effort for everyone. (But that's the plan, isn't it?) SEMPER FI!
