3 pointsWhile I now live in Texas, I bought a pistol last week. NICS check took 5 mins. NJ is playing (stupid) games.

1 pointWow! What a DGU story... watch this video! Honestly, I don't throw the word "hero" around lightly, but this guy, Raul... again, just wow. Pin a medal on his chest. I'm not going to give any "spoilers" - just watch it. So many interesting lessons you can take from this story.... It aggravates me to no end that I never even heard of this remarkable event through our biased, anti-2A mainstream media. I have always believed that DGU stories, even remarkably dramatic ones like this, are too often buried by the press. Frankly, from a PR perspective, I think even the 2A orgs have dropped the ball on covering DGU stories properly! You really need a video interview like this one (which, after all, is easily disseminated), as opposed to a few sentences printed in a hard copy NRA magazine. I'm so glad this man's story is being brought to light by Colion Noir - and that he wants to cover more of these. Bravo! 1 pointNJ is simply playing games, deliberately taking longer than needed. I live in NH. When I buy a handgun, the shop calls it into the state and stays on hold until they provide an answer. It's rarely more than a couple minutes. NH uses the same process as NJ, where you call into the state and the state then uses the Fed database along with checking whatever they do at the state level. It used to take a day or so but the NH legislature told the NHSP to get their act together or they'd be taken out of the process entirely.

1 pointYou just need to read the statute. It says '60 days' 'days' are all days. 'calendar days' are a subset of days and would have to stated explicitly. It is the same as the 2A applies to 'the people'. That means all the people, not just the white, male, or any other subset of 'the people'.

1 pointZero permits have been issued out of Somerset. I've heard (read) that they are still awaiting "clarification from the AG" until the court starts issuing permits. I would highly suggest contacting Strikeforce and Jay Factor if you live in somerset. If you have a Facebook profile, get on the NJ Firearms Syndicate page and reach out to Jay Factor. He has been personally typing up letters for anyone who's PD and Court have been not adhering to the timelines and/or issuing restrictions. I personally believe the pressure from him and strikforce have made serious impact in a positive manner on the issuance of PTCs in several counties. He will provide you personalized letters to be sent to the pd, prosecutor and the judge. You can either sit and wait, or take action. Best of luck

1 pointNot trying to be snarky, but it's a huge deal. National INSTANT Criminal background check should take 10-15 minutes tops, just like it used to be before people realized the need for self protection due to the rampant violence that was permitted (and often encouraged) across the country. Since the pandemic has abated (or never truly existed) maybe the NIC delays are due to the influx of carry permit applications that are sitting ignored by some PDs and many courts? And let's not mention the double 2 hr.+ round trips to the gun shop.

1 pointAny timeframe given now will be skewed by the fact that the process is somewhat settling down. Early applicants faced delays as this was entirely new for many courts and PDs.

1 point'John Wick' decides to buy some sneakers. Three 'salty lookin' dudes' decide to rob the store in Nashville. It didn't work out well for them. Nice shooting! (Kudos to Dirty Harry for the colorful description.)

1 pointHey, here's a three on one. It's not clear what the three were intent on. But the one had the edge.

0 pointsTo date I cannot find that any carry permits have been issued in Somerset County NJ. From an anonymous source; his opinion is that the county will begin issuing carry permits but with a strict court order limiting where you can and cannot carry. With a few thousand permits in backlog (est) its anyone guess when we will see them signed off and issued. If anyone living in Somerset County knows differently please post more current information.

0 pointsIf we take that at face value, and assume that 'a few weeks' means only two weeks, then those at the back of the queue should be approved/denied in around 34 months. From now.
