If NJ decides to go the 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals, we stand a very good chance of pulling two out of three Republican appointed judges. The makeup of the 3rd changed from Democratic appointed control to Republican appointed during the Trump administration.

I had canned C Rations in the late 60s thar had Lucky Strikes in a green pack. Lucky Strike stopped making the green pack in 1942. These Rations were at least 45 years old. I'm not dead!!!

Thanks for explanation!! And for those like me with no legal expertise. I will save you the trip to Google to see what difference is between a TRO and a PI. https://pjtagency.com/difference-between-temporary-restraining-order-preliminary-injunction/ I have learned more about our Legal System and Government thru my 2A interests in the last year then in 6 years of college.

That's not bad. I may have to write that in the next time I'm asked to fill out a form with more than two choices for gender.

I went through the dates of all the canned food in my SHTF stash and 3/4 of it expired within the past year. I checked online with the FDA and many other non-governmental (trustworthy) sites and they all agree, do not throw it away! Canned foods may start to lose flavor but the contents are still safe to eat for years! The only thing I found was that more acidic canned foods tend to go down hill faster. Sauerkraut gets a bit darker in color but I threw it away. I moved all the expired stuff to another shelf for if we get desperate. Canned foods where the can is not dented or rusted will last indefinitely. Even if taste is effected, it will still be edible and nutritious. Frozen food sealed well or vacuum sealed and stored at or below zero lasts forever! The best by dates are not ordered by law. The manufacturers put them on there hoping you will toss them early and buy more! I was actually a good friend of a doctor who swore that canned food did not go bad. He had several cases of #10 cans of creamed chipped beef just a few years ago and was still eating it regularly....The cans expired in 1994! He threw a fit when his daughter found them and made him throw them away!

WooHoo--congratulations! Did you pick it up from the court, or did they first send it back to your local PD who then notified you?

State Sen. Neil Anderson expects a legal challenge and an immediate stay on implementation if the measure is approved with an immediate effective date. Supporting what he said is a violation of the Second Amendment right to bear arms is a violation of elected officials’ oath, he said. “All of us are going to raise our right hand [Wednesday with the 103rd General Assembly] and pledge an oath to uphold the constitution of Illinois and the constitution of the United States,” Anderson said. “All of you thinking about voting for this today, you should resign.” Senate President Don Harmon (D) expects the legal battle. Harmon said. “We’ll see you in court.” Lets hope that in the upcoming cases, the Supreme Court reminds these officials, in writing, that they took an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States and that writing, passing, and enforcing these unconstitutional laws they are violating their oath and perjuring themselves.

NY resident here. Applied to the NJSP @ Totowa (Passaic County) in August 2022. Got a call yesterday that the permit is ready for pickup. Scheduled to go to Court on the 19th of January to pick it up. Assuming everything goes to plan that would be around 5 months from the application date. NJSP took my application in person. They are extremely backed up with applications and are impossible to reach via phone. The single person handling CCW at the time I applied checked and responded to emails around once or twice a week. It took them 4 months to process the application before forwarding it to the superior court. The 60 or 90 day limit which according to the law they have to abide by is irrelevant - they don't care. I was told that the longest part of the process is getting a reply from my state's mental health authority. The NJSP has you fill out mental health history search consent form, they send it to your state and wait for reply confirming that you haven't been committed or anything like that. My state (NY) apparently takes its time to get back to them. I don't think any of my references got called. Also, I took the qualification from an NRA instructor in my state - at least at the time I didn't have to go to a NJ instructor. Things may have changed with the new law NJ passed in December. Hope this helps someone.

The fight isn’t over even if this Injunction stands. We need to get proper complainants in order to challenge some of the other sensitive locations . Like youth sports event, a plant that produces or transfers energy,( think the courts will say this doesn’t mean a gas station), public transportation hub/airport, a public place being used for a film set, etc . And we need a doctor or nurse to challenge the health care facilities prohibition. The law is too broad even if they want to make some healthcare facilities a sensitive place. I have a limited exemption to these sensitive places but it would be a real hassle if the place actually told me no. I can imagine the legal jeopardy a CCW might have if they needed emergency medical care.

The president who appointed a judge was not as important until Trump . There was an informal rule that a senator of the state the judge would cover , could veto that judge’s nomination. https://www.npr.org/2014/05/29/317127117/old-senate-tradition-lies-behind-controversial-judges-nomination Only certain judges could get through this part of the process. Especially in California, New York where the senators were/are more radical and militant. Trump broke this tradition.

TROs are generally not appealable. https://www.jdsupra.com/legalnews/immediate-appeals-of-temporary-5067258/ The state can try but it is a high bar.

Really, REALLY hope that if consolidated that Bumb takes the case and not Williams. Bumb seems to understand what is going on, the gravity of it, and is taking it seriously. Plus just bitched slapped the State. Williams seems uneducated on the law (thought it doesn't take effect until June 2023???), doesn't plan on doing any homework until the morning of, and worse of all, is a Biden appointee.

Yes, national parks are protected by the CARD act of 2007 which had an unrelated amendment that guaranteed the right to carry in national parks. Federal buildings including on park property are off limits. A classic example of this is the Liberty bell monument in Philadelphia. You can carry on the park grounds but they do not allow you to carry in the building with the bell. Courthouse bans vary widely. Some states don’t even allow law enforcement officers to carry unless they are uniformed and responding. In contrast, some states allow non LEO citizens to carry in some areas of the courthouse. Some leave it up to the judge. Some like Pennsylvania require courthouses to have lockers to secure your firearm on entry. Other states have different rules for other government buildings. Texas requires any building that is owned by state or local government to allow concealed carry to license holders. I’ve attended conferences held in city owned conference centers in Texas and carried. Some states have “enhanced” licenses that will allow access to certain areas. Incidents with concealed carry license holders are extremely rare. Most of us are law abiding. Texas also has de-escalation as part of their training for their LTC. PA also allows carry in polling places, and some even make it a point to openly carry. NJ and their phony restrictions aren’t in line with most of America.

"We are disappointed by the Court’s ruling, which is inconsistent with the Second Amendment and will make New Jerseyans considerably less safe. But this temporary order is just that: temporary," state Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin said in a statement. "And we look forward to continuing to press our case, including ultimately on appeal." What drugs is he on?? Making people unsafe, when his atty stated there is no data to back that up!

NJ can, and almost certainly will appeal the TRO in the 3rd Circuit. That may or may not go better than NY in the 2nd Circuit. First, we have Judge Hardiman in the 3rd Circuit and he has been a 2A originalist for a long time. Also, the 3rd Circuit is overseen by Alito whereas the 2nd Circuit is overseen by Sotomayor. That may be significant. It will be interesting to see what Sotomayor says about the stay on the NY TRO.

The legislature/Scutari/Platkin can talk about the process all they want. In legal terms the judge's ruling was as big a bitch-slap against them as you're likely to see. And they all know it...

You can carry in national parks, and on federal property.. IN certain buildings is different. If they placed the limit at state buildings were official duties are conducted, the only one with historic significance that would be likely. You said "Never" with a pretty broad range of places. Keep in mind this is the "mini" case against the state. Like I said, low hanging fruit... clearly. This was smart by all the 2a groups..

Right. I agree with your sentiment. Even on the way out the door, a shooter could decide to turn and deliver a few parting shots. So IMO when the shooter is on his feet and mobile, he's a threat; take him out. If the entire video later shows the shooter immobile on the floor (with or without the 'gun' in his hand?) and the citizen puts some more rounds into him, I think that will be the legal problem for him. So as you suggested, shooting until the threat is neutralized is justified. After the threat is neutralized more shooting is no longer justified. I suppose a jury may eventually decide that question. Note: Here's an update. Good guy with a gun shoots robber as he holds up customers in Houston restaurant – HotAir

I searched briefly without success, but found a 2013 post on a UK forum that said they contacted Redding, who sent them a manual for the model 16 press. So that’s worth a shot.
