And even then, it's a "ask you to leave/trespassing" thing, not a felony. I'm sure the legislature will be working on that...

There are 2 problems with your approach. 1) By refusing to answer a direct question, you are automatically escalating the situation. Your car may match the description of one that was just involved in an armed robbery. You are now a suspect and things could go very wrong quickly! 2) You just blew any chance of getting away with a warning. The officer will enjoy issuing you all the citations he/she can think of!

Seems silly for the rest of us, too. Silly being far too mild a word.

https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.njd.506033/gov.uscourts.njd.506033.53.0.pdf Great preemptive directions by the court. In essence Bumb is telling the Senate & Assembly can come to the party but not to whine about public interest or how dangerous firearms are. Those days are over, I love winning. === This matter comes before the Court upon the Motion to Intervene on Short Notice by Nicholas P. Scutari, President of the New Jersey Senate, and Craig J. Coughlin, speaker of the New Jersey General Assembly (together, the “Presiding Officers”). . . At the same time, the Court implores the Presiding Officers to focus their argument on the legitimate legal issues pending before this Court after the clear dictate from the United States Supreme Court in New York State Rifle & Pistol Ass'n, Inc. v. Bruen, 597 U.S., 142 S. Ct. 2111 (2022). The Presiding Officers note that they intend to “provide perspective on the critical public health, safety and welfare issues that led the Legislature to enact Chapter 131.” [Docket No. 47-1, at 7.] But the Bruen Court expressly stated that “the government may not simply posit that the regulation promotes an important interest” in the Second Amendment context. Id. at 2126. Instead, “the government must demonstrate that the regulation is consistent with this Nation's historical tradition of firearm regulation.” Id. Additionally, pursuant to Rule 65, relevant factors for the Court to consider at the preliminary injunction phase include the public interest and possibility of harm to other interested persons. As the Court considered in its earlier Opinion in Koons, the State, thus far, has failed to present any “empirical evidence to suggest that concealed carry permit holders are responsible for gun crimes or an increase in gun crimes in New Jersey, which they cite as justification for the law.” [Docket No. 34.] Such evidence is certainly relevant to these factors. However, the Presiding Officers must keep the litigation progressing on the right track. All agree that violent crimes involving firearms are tragic. But the dictate of Bruen is clear: “legislative interest balancing is understandable—and, elsewhere, appropriate — [but] it is not deference that the Constitution demands here.” Bruen, 142 S.Ct. at 2131. While the Legislature may disagree with Bruen, it may not disobey it.

Judge also ruled on the Scutari/Coughlin intervention motion - she's going to allow it, but made some juicy comments: https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.njd.506033/gov.uscourts.njd.506033.53.0.pdf -----

#3 above should NOT include playgrounds as approved TRO. I believe that was denied.

Let me ask you this in a clear and plain way. Do you view cooperating with police during a traffic stop as licking boot? A simple yes or no will do, but feel free to explain. Troubling, to say the least.

Again - we all know who is our governor and what is he trying to do. No surprise is here to me, I am glad it is stopped also surprised some clowns are still not happy about. We don't need any law besides 2nd amendment, read it again.

The Bruen standard is that those historical analogies had to be in effect at the time of the founding. Do we have an example of duty to inform laws from that time period?

Cleaning a gun doesn't require an excellent gunsmith. Or even a bad gunsmith. Cleaning your own guns helps you understand how they function or why they might be giving you problems, spot potential trouble spots before they become real problems, and saves you money that can instead be spent on ammo. Also, the smell of Hoppes solvent has been known to drive women wild! Although not often in a good way.

Seems silly that people like you who only visit a few times per year will have to spend $200+ just to exercise your constitutional right.

Sorry for late reply guys, had too many things going on. Got my permit on the 19th. When the clerk called me to schedule a day to come in he sounded like it was just an appointment to pickup the permit, though it turned out to be a full blown hearing. There were about 20 people there, from what I gathered mostly NJ resident applicants. Judge was pretty cool, a ccw holder himself, gave us a 40 minute talk on the NJ and national gun laws. Each applicant was called one at a time and the judge asked routine questions such as whether all info in the application was correct, confirmed gun serial numbers, training location, etc. This was all done under oath. Few people had potentially disqualifying criminal history - there was a lady present who the judge referred to as the prosecution who presented any evidence against granting the permit to each individual. Seems like they did their homework - few people had driving related history such as license suspensions, driving without license, DUI. One guy had domestic violence related arrest or restraining order from couple decades back. Judge said those are old offences and aren't considered disqualifying factors for CCW permit. No mentions of social media or anything like that. Everyone present received their permits. Several people lived in different counties previously and the prosecutor didn't have mental health forms from those counties. The judge just asked those individuals under oath whether they were ever committed to a mental institution while living in those counties before granting them their permits. This was the last group of people that were being processed through the court according to the judge. All further applications are being handled by the PD or NJSP from start to finish. The permit is a folded heavy paper print with photo, signature and the guns qualified with listed on the back. Pretty underwhelming to be honest, though I'm happy it finally happened, I've been wanting to get a NJ CCW ever since I moved to NJ in 2008 and got my first handgun. I now have NY, NJ, PA, CT, FL ccw. The only one still outstanding is the NYC carry license, which the NYPD is dragging their feet with...

Read the legislation. It's VERY restrictive. Yes, there is a TRO in place, but that's temporary. The challenge is now with the court and it looks promising, but regardless of the initial decision, it will be challenged for a while. There's no guarantee that the TRO will stay in place, so the restrictions (including NOT being able to carry IN YOUR VEHICLE) could remain in place.

Been pulled over twice for blown head light 2 different towns. Both times I said sir just so you know I have a carry permit and my firearm is on my side. First I was on the way hunting with my dog and a passenger in club cab pick up with 2 shotguns leaning on console pointed in passenger floor in gun socks. He asked us if we minded stepping out for saftey reasons no problem. Asked for credentials and sent us on our way no issues thanked me for telling him up front. Next I told him n he says You dont reach for your I won't reach for mine. Told him my wallet was in my back pocket same side as my gun he said np get it. Than asked me if I liked I can carry what kind of holster. Told me he appreciated me telling him right away showed him I was being transparent and sent me on my way
