Im live tweeting and providing updates during the hearing using the hashtag #NJCarryKiller. For those unable to listen in, you might be able to stay up to date by checking in on that hashtag. https://twitter.com/search?q=%23NJCarryKiller... Anyone else planning to tweet stuff out during the hearing, please use that hashtag and maybe we can get a nice feed going. If there's a lull between 10:30-11 its because I was forced into a meeting

Probably already is. The law doesn't ban braces from these guns, it bans ANYTHING that has surface area to be shouldered. That "cover" has an ATF letter dated from years ago... where as some braces recieved the same ATF approval. The ATF just has to show it has more surface area than a bare extension tube, and they have satisfied the rule banning it.

My permit has "No restrictions" and "See court order" both checked. I was pulled over a couple of weeks ago. The State Trooper did the usual roadside interview questions - where are you coming from, where are you headed, etc. It came out that I had come from the Phillipsburg Pistol Club members meeting and was heading home (1/4 mile away). He eventually got around to asking if there were any guns in the car. Trooper: Do you shoot a lot? Me: I run a match every month and I'm an instructor Trooper: So do you have a lot of guns? Me: What's "a lot"? Trooper: So any guns in the car? Me: Yes Trooper: In the trunk? Me: No, on my hip Trooper: You have a permit? Me: Yes, here (hands over permit) Trooper: OK There was no attempt to inspect the gun, did not ask for a copy of the court order, no twitchiness at all. He let me go with a warning for the driving infraction. He did comment that I was his first encounter with a permit holder and I complimented him on being so chill with it. We shook hands and said goodnight. ETA: My court order says I have to carry my permit. It does not say I have to carry the court order.

Thank you! It was hard work but worth the effort! Glad I had a partner to tag team with.

It wasn't Schmutter's best appearance, but he certainly did MUCH better than that idiot Jensen.

Schmutter stepped in was confident and articulate

Jensen was all over the place regarding sensitive places. He was almost making the State's case for them. Bumb kept trying to shepherd him and get him to clarify, but he seemed terribly unprepared, and very nervous. He was awful.

Thank you very much! We're just getting started. We just had John Petrolino of Bearing Arms publish to the site and we'll have a few interesting guest authors in the near future. Glad you like it!

OTOH, NYPD is telling business owners to post signs saying, "remove mask before entering".

The TRO is irrelevant. The prohibition on consuming alcohol while carrying is in section 5 which does not come into effect until July 1st, 2023.

Would love to hear any judge ask the state to provide the list of crimes committed by all these new permit holders. When they present the blank pieces of paper, “So what’s your rush to overturn the PI?”

Hello, SOLD Selling my Ruger ranch bolt action rifle chambered in 5.56. / .223 It has MAYBE 50 rounds through it. Includes a ten round magazine and takes standard AR mags. Leupold optic just recently installed. I’m selling both for less than the retail cost of rifle, with the hope of a quick sale. I’m in Monmouth County and prefer to use Rich at American Armory in Howell, but I’m flexible. Please see manufacturer’s websites below for a better description: The usual rule of whoever says “I’ll take it” applies and thanks for looking. https://www.leupold.com/vx-freedom-2-7x33-hunt-plex https://ruger.com/products/americanRifleRanch/specSheets/26965.html

Ugh. That doesn't instill a lot of confidence.

So what happens if a lay person tries to educate themselves on what assault weapons actually are? I searched "are assault weapons really dangerous". All emphasis here is from the Google search itself.

Couldn’t agree more. Cai was much better prepared today. I think her argument that just because there wasn’t a law on the books doesn’t mean the founders wouldn’t have prohibited regulation of the kind gave Blumb some pause, but in the end SCOTUS was clear we have to go by what was there not by what could have been. Jensen was a disaster. Schmutter ok but did’t hammer down on the point that all of the states historical references are off base. The last attorney who presented for the legislature was also a disaster, but he was successful in getting Bumb to go down the balancing of interests which is a no no. I think he was even surprised Bumb went there. Will be interesting to see how this comes out. Was really surprised how few question or challenges Bumb had for the State, she kind of just let them talk. Hoping she just has her mind made up but from her order where she chastised the state for not answering her questions in their brief was surprised there wasn’t more heat on the state, not that there wasn’t any hut I didn’t get the sense the State was knocked of balance. Jensen and Scmutter had a lot of awkward pauses when pressed by Bumb.

This is a fun gun, but just be aware you cannot fully field strip it because the faux suppressor is pinned and welded to the (extremely thin) barrel. You will have to use a bore snake or pull cord to clean it. It has taken every brand of 22LR I have thrown at it.

It appears that the conference call hit its maximum for participants. If you're unable to listen live, there is a guy "live blogging" the hearing: https://nitter.lacontrevoie.fr/search?q=%23NJCarryKiller&src=typed_query&f=live

I don't know what this fascination with invoking the 5A. If you are doing something legal, transporting firearms, carrying firearms, and you get arrested. You'll probably pay $1000 for a good criminal defense lawyer to get the charges dropped. Then you'll recover it in a false arrest lawsuit. Invoking the 5A might make you feel good. It will get you nowhere. If you're legal tell the truth.

Hey... love your site! Bookmarked. The more gun owners out there promoting the 2A & shooting sports - the better! Well done.

Curious why they would sue to go back to 15 rounds. Why not just try for no limit, as in free states?

It honestly sounded like they had never discussed these cases with each other. It was shocking and disappointing.

I expect to see them come summer in the shore towns. We still have some ass-wiped shops that post a "no mask, no enter" signs on LBI.
