Photo of the totality my wife took with her SLR: There was some bright pink/ruby light at about 7 o'clock that was really cool. You can see a hint of it in the photo. Moment of totality looking West (From the VT side towards Plattsburgh NY) over Lake Champlain: If you zoom in, you can see Venus at 5 o’clock a little less than halfway between the eclipse and the mountains.

    Hmmmm… in 2023 shootings in NJ dropped below 1000 - that’s around a 30% decrease… I wonder if there is a correlation.

It says "the people", not simply, people, not referring to anyone with a pulse on US soil, but US citizens. "The people", is specific to a distinct group. Illegal immigrants are some people, but they are not "The People". "The People" referenced in 2A are, We The People of the United States, as prescribed in big bold letters, page one of the Declaration of Independence. There is no contradiction for a constitutional purist.

I hope so. If I could only change one NJ Gun Law, it would be to deep six any and all magazine restrictions. That law, in my opinion, has the greatest effect on gun owners in our state.

For those who do not have experience with two way radio beyond GI Joe walkie-talkies, y'all need to understand something if you are planning on using radio comms in a SHTF scenario. A single $30.00 BeefWang is not going to save you from anything. You need a plan, base stations, repeaters, mobiles and a network of trained (and trusted) individuals to support a SHTF comms scheme.

I very seriously doubt this has anything to do with terrorism. 1) Harbor pilots are VERY seriously vetted, and highly trained. Not to mention extremely well paid. My experience knowing a few of them, and knowing how they are recruited and screened tells me that there is a slim to highly unlikely chance that a harbor pilot would have participated in anything like that. 2) Maintenance of foreign flag ships is well known to be dubious. Especially these days. These were NOT US flag, Jones act sailors. It was (to my understanding) a largely Indian crew on that ship, with a Ukrainian Captain. Indian crews are not exactly known for being stellar. 3) The bunkers (fuel) these ships use is ‘Bunker C’, which is a heavy, dirty fuel oil that can, and usually is, pretty contaminated. This stuff ain’t your car grade gasoline or diesel fuel. It’s nasty. It requires nearly constant filter changes and maintenance to the engine/generators. The ship took on fuel prior to departing port, which would stir up all kinds of shit in the fuel tanks, which would contribute to particulates in the fuel lines/filters. 4) I’d say the posting of the chief engineer for Maserek above was pretty spot on as far as chain of events. This was a shitty accident, with horrible timing and outcome. Not a terror attack.

There's a few things I noted on the website that's important to consider: Red Flag 1: Exclusion of Pending Applications The state demanded pending applications not be included. Red Flag 2: Exclusion of Application Date vs. Issue Date The state didn't report the application date versus the issue date . Red Flag 3: Exclusion of Demographics Demographics by locality was not provided even though the state has this on the municipality level. What's even more interesting is the fact they actually have this information. So not only were the towns instructed to not include pending submissions, the state intentionally didn't want to share it with us. They also only displayed demographics on county level by the way which was probably done intentionally (you can't find out town by town). They also don't show approval/denial rates by age or race. This is the spreadsheet every municipality had to submit: https://www.nj.gov/oag/dcj/agguide/directives/ag-Directive-2023-02_Appendix-A.xlsx for those interested. The tabulation we created can be found here: https://www.njnics.com/ptc.php

Walk into any gun shop in NJ and besides seeing young and middle aged Americans you now see many seniors. I was in a shop the other day and there was a couple in their 80's talking to the clerk about what guns they should have to protect themselves. Being a senior myself (78) I started a conversation with them and asked them why now were they interested in getting a weapon. I already knew the answer because I'm in the same boat, they said because they were scared not only in their house but outside as well. Seniors are an easy target. In my situation I have many physical problems. In my younger days I protected myself and family quite well as we lived in NY and there were many times I had to fight and thank God I was able too. Nowadays that's just not physically possible . If somebody comes into my home they will regret it big time on the outside my wife and I are sitting ducks. I see this ruling by this judge and it blows my mind especially living in this communist state under Herr Murphy's draconian requirements to get a carry permit and where you can and cannot carry. It's funny but basically Murphy is telling the criminals where they can have no fear of a person protecting themselves with a weapon. Seniors like me are being forced to decide whether to carry without a carry permit. I have been trained and go to the range and so has my wife. Crime is on the rise in NJ. Cars being hijacked, home invasions shootings and seniors being beaten and robbed. I will never allow my wife to be beaten , dragged out of our car or any other physical attack.Murphy is bussing these invaders into our towns . The police already know that Venezuelan gangs are stealing cars and doing home invasions. The more that come in the more drugs and crime come in with them. Seniors have no other option but to protect themselves. As it was said it's not a question of if but when. These cells are just waiting for the word to attack and just like in Israel those who are not ready will be the first to suffer. Be safe, and be ready. They are coming it's just the question of when. I pray that God saves this country before then but I'm afraid and many seniors are afraid. So I am asking that when you see seniors in a gun shop give them some support in what they are looking to do. GOD BLESS AND SAVE AMERICA

First, let me state that I'm NOT one of those people that got up in the wee hours of the morning to watch Charles & Di get married, and frankly?... I didn't do that for William and Kate, or for Harry and Meghan. As an American, what can I say?... I just have no great love for (or obsession with) monarchies in general. It strikes me as a ridiculous and antiquated system. But hey, it's their tradition, not ours... each to their own. All that said, I won't lie... I was very sad to hear this latest news. The princess - just as a person - comes across as beautiful, grounded, poised, and classy. She has also been delightfully free of major scandals. In fact, I have often gotten a kick out of how "Kate the Commoner" has behaved (IMO) with more elegance and grace than some of the "Royals" in the family she married into. I also can't help but strip the issue of royalty away for a moment... and look at it through the simple lens of humanity... enough to realize what a tough break it is for ANY family to have TWO members battling cancer at the same time. Ugh. Nightmare! Damn, I hate the scourge of cancer! It takes too many people - including in my own circle. I give best wishes to ANYONE facing a cancer diagnosis, but I do think her situation is one of those particularly poignant ones for multiple reasons... because she (again, agree with the concept of royalty or not) is a beloved role model to so many around the world... because the press is going to continue to hound the living daylights out of her... because she's the mom to 3 young children... and because her husband, who lost his own mother when she was far too young, shouldn't have to experience a similar fate with his own wife. I really hope her treatment is successful and she is soon deemed cancer-free!

As a person going through this myself, I hate to see it happen to anyone. Although I don't think anyone's battle is more important than the next person's. Everyone has a family and loved ones who worry about them. It's very personal to the people going through it and to plaster her all over the news isn't doing her or her family any good. If they were really concerned about her, they would leave her and her family alone and let them deal with it privately.

Nice! I saw this on a door in Sodus Bay, NY when we were up there watching the overcast that had an eclipse behind it on Monday. Much of upstate NY feels the same way about the nonsense that comes out of Albany and NYC.

Remember that it took over 6 months for NJ to get their permit requirements finalized and classes had to be changed and approved so last year a large number of people were also waiting for that to all get ironed out.

Disclaimer: I re-watched "The Patriot" last night. As much as I hate Mel Gibson, the theme of the movie resonated with me, especially reflecting on where this country is today. F*** CANER!!! I've lost too many relatives to the various forms of the disease. It's a friggin' nightmare for those battling it and those that have to watch their loved ones go through the battle, receive treatment and hopefully recover. Hell, I had one of my Cub Scouts battle it during the 'Rona. That was an extremely tough time for their family. Thankfully, their friends, neighbors and loved ones (for the most part) stepped up to assist in any way that they could. (Not tooting, ever, my own horn, but I had may late nights and early mornings assisting in support of the family.) I wish her, as a person, a wife and a mother, the best in her battle.

watching the video, i feel like he shouldn't have kept his wml lit. i feel like he should've lit it, seen what he needed to see, kill it, move, then relight....keeping it lit would let them see his location constantly had they been armed. also it looked like he may have stayed in the doorway too long......... regarding doggo......often times, just a big dog barking will cause people to change their minds.....

Beautiful dog. Unfortunately I have a 105# English lab that would lick them to death or maybe not. It's amazing how when criminals are confronted by an armed person, they hightail it and run like the cowards they are.
