    Saying hello

Northern Bergen is a state within a state. =P thanks to Soprano politics. Welcome to the forums.
  2. NY ranked dead last on that list. =)
  3. if you went to brick armory, I think it is the range acoustics themselves. I was in there with my gf, when I went to introduce myself and the forums to the range owner. When we went into the range, someone was shooting a 45 it seems, was alot louder than at any other range where I shot. If you are actually in the ports, it is not bad at all, but if in the general area in the back, it does get loud.
  4. Was there today as well. The best public facility I have been to in NJ. Spoke with Bob and John there. Very awesome guys there. I have left my contact info there and will be getting a full writeup on their shop and range here soon. Awaiting some photos and contact info. The range was being used, but not stuffed. Great ventilation. range can potentially be used for 50 BMG as well, built quite well. Range hours are long! shoot almost any time. Rental rates are very very good.
  5. Sounds great, will have to make a NJGF meet out of it this summer. =) 8-)

    Saiga 12

Just in case anyone is interested. The bullet Hole in belleville nj has the saiga 12 for $559 or so, in stock, plus tax. nics included. they also had the rifle in 7.62 39.
  7. Hillsborough was great. It was the first place we (brother and I) went shooting. Anyone know why they closed down?
  8. very nice! and thanks and welcome to the forums. So shoot that mosin nagant often?
  9. just got done with my visit, and as a matter a fact, typing this on my mobile phone eating at kfc not too far away. as others said, it is a hole in the wall, but great amount of stock, very reasonable prices, and a range to shoot. it gets packed. had to wait half an hour to use the range. range prices very reasonable 12.50 per hour. 3 bucks for 5 targets. didn't check ammo prices as I brought my own. range is well lit. great thing about it is that it has backfill thus they allow high power rifles. downside... only 10 ports. and not that long. range offcers were top notch and ran things smoothly. a great replacement for Rays. will add more later, details of my shoot and smith wesson demo day will be in the trip report forum.
  10. Just started doing research on it and was looking for first hand experience or a primer for it.

    9mm or 45 acp?

ditto on that. Walked into harry's, saw something that looked like riffles, but they were bb guns and paintball guns... was like... um, where are the real guns. though at that time they were still closed next door. the prices at cheyene though were LOWER than sportsmans down the street.
  14. how is it like at Fort Dix? what is the longest range they have?
  15. On the site, someone mentioned 12 mil. since i take it it was just for the land... i would hate to wonder what he wanted for the business? the business was fine, but the building, the range, was just stuck in the 70's, old, grimy, just like the attitudes of the employees there. I would really love to know what is required to open up a public shooting range.
  16. Yes, Buy a nissan, get a free gun and lesson how to shoot out of a high speeding car. =P It is a damn shame that a range, as populated as Ray's just closed down. cannot believe they could not find anyone to take it over. Maybe they wanted a big too high of a price tag.
  17. Fired Up for Smith & Wesson Wedbush Morgan sees more market-share gains and more military pacts. TEXT SIZE PRINT EMAIL DIGG REPRINTS GET RSS Smith & Wesson Holding (SWHC: Nasdaq) Wedbush Morgan Securities ($4.36, March 9, 2009) WE MAINTAIN OUR Buy rating [on Smith & Wesson (ticker: SWHC)] and raise the price target to $5 from $4 to reflect surging industry gun sales. Given robust industry sales in handguns and tactical rifles, the company's continued market-share gains in these categories, and potential upside from upcoming U.S. military contract awards, as well as an improving balance sheet as the company pays down debt and lowers inventory, we believe shares of Smith & Wesson should trade at a calendar 2009 price-to-earnings multiple of 17 times, an approximate 10% discount to its nearest company comparable, Sturm Ruger (RGR), given Smith & Wesson's debt balance, thus generating our price target of $5. Industry data indicate a retail sales surge in firearms, likely related to the change to a Democratic administration. According to the FBI's National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS), the number of background firearm checks, an indication of retail sell-through, increased 31% in the October-January quarter versus the prior year. We believe this sharp acceleration in sales largely reflects belief that the election of a Democratic presidential administration could result in tightening of gun-control laws. Such beliefs were reinforced when Attorney General Eric Holder indicated last week that the Obama administration would attempt to reinstate a ban against semiautomatic rifles previously in effect from 1994-2004. Key competitor and major outdoor retailers report significant increase in firearm sales in recent months. Outdoor retailer Cabela's (CAB) reported same-store sales increased 2.2% in the fourth quarter, due to the sale of firearms and related accessories. Similarly, Gander Mountain (GMTN) saw a significant improvement in its same-store sales in the quarter, due in part to strong sales of firearms. Sturm Ruger, a key competitor, reported fourth-quarter 2008 sales of firearms jumped 42% versus the prior year and 81% sequentially, primarily due to increased sales of pistols. The sharp increase in orders resulted in the company increasing production 29% during the year, working through its entire finished-goods inventory, and still reporting an order backlog at the end of the quarter 167% higher than the prior year. We anticipate Smith & Wesson results will reflect such strong industry sales, given the company's M&P [military and police] series of pistols and tactical rifles continue to gain market share. Expect third-quarter revenue of $73 million and earnings per share of three cents. We forecast total revenue to increase 9% over the year-ago quarter, with increased sales of pistols and tactical rifles partially offset by sluggish shotgun and hunting-rifle sales. Smith & Wesson is scheduled to report fiscal third-quarter (January) results after market close on Thursday, March 12. -- Rommel T. Dionisio -- Kurt M. Frederick, CPA

    9mm or 45 acp?

I actually am in the same boat. I went to cheyene mountain last weekend? and they were fortunate enough to have a few in stock... A S&W M&P 40 full size, same as 9mm, a S&W M&P 9c compact, and a glock 26. No taurus. infact, I have not seen a 24/7 oss or pro in either cheyene or sportsman down the road. Cheyene said that they ordered a bunch of taurus guns and they will be in soon. the 9c vs the glock 26 was close, however the sw fit like a glove, where the glock fit just well. it felt a little square whereas the sw was curved and felt part of the hand. I do want to get a full size, and a compact, as far as compact, I am decided on s&w, and taurus for full size, just question of calibres and which I will shoot more. The only thing kind of making me lean towards the sw is the promo for two free mags. argh. decisions decisions. btw. dry firing the glock, vs sw... the trigger pull on sw just felt better. perhaps I will have to rent the guns to see it. only issue is, stores around here charge $20 for the lane, $15 to rent the handgun, and then overpriced ammo, $18 for a 50rd box of 9mm. $70 to shoot two boxes. I will wait till I have full member privs at the club next month, and see if anyone has it there. Also, brother has beretta 92fs, some glock, walther p99, browning hi power 9, h&k usp to compare too.
  22. thank you for making it here sir!
  23. Welcome to the board! where in camdem county? Where do you shoot?
  24. So here is a question for those in the know... what does it cost or what is the process to open a shooting range?
