  1. 1. Application type (FID/permit w/ existing FID). Initial FID + 2 pistol permits 2. Police Department where you applied.- Wharton NJ 3. Name of the person you dealt with at the PD.- Det Bob Lupia & Det Rich Ornelas 4. Time taken to issue FID and/or permit.- 22 days 5. Documents required by the PD (aside from the standard application and the mental health release form). None 6. Notes - anything pertaining to the application process (unforeseen difficulties, chief of police calling your home, you hiring an attorney, etc.). I posted a thread asking if there was a back up in Trenton because I hadnt received an update that i had passed my background check after a while. Few days later, 22 days after i initially applied online Det Lupia called to tell me to swing by and pick up my id and permits. Told him i was suprised because i hadnt heard about my background check, he informed me that the local department is the one that does the actual background check, and in fact i could have had my paperwork a week earlier if the state police had updated one of the forms they needed. 30 days is the law, 22 days was amazing. Glad i live in a community that had a police department that are all 2nd amendement soldiers. They told me the day i applied they would process it as fast as they could. Only regret i have is not applying for more permits initially.
  2. Just an update for everyone. I got everything today, had to wait an entire 22 days from start to finish. Officer explained they would have been done sooner if the state police hadnt dragged their feet updating their system. Sorry for complaining. Just purchased my VP9 and couldnt be happier.
  3. I give you a lot of credit for waiting 6 months man, don't know how you did it. I'm loosing my mind and it hasn't even been a month yet. I just get these ideas in my head, so excited to have a new hobby that i'm so passionate about, that i want it now. Unfortunately now its just a waiting game. Trust me ill let you guys know as soon as I'm approved so you know you don't have to listen to me bitch anymore. Was even thinking about contacting my local mayor, who just married my wife and I at town hall before our "real wedding" and asking if he can do anything, but that was before i realized everything was taken care of down in Trenton, was at first under the impression the local police department had the authority to make the decision. I really do appreciate you guys getting back to me, have learned more in the last few days from you guys than doing my own research on other sites.
  4. True. Ive never been convicted of anything in my life. I guess theyre just really backed up this time of the year with the holidays coming up. I just want to know that theyre working on it and something isnt missing. Id kick myself in the ass for not asking the local PD when 3 months down the road they say they didnt have a piece of information that they needed.
  5. Trying for our first right now, just got married in the spring. Dont think theyd accept either of my animals, and doubt my sister in law would entertain the idea of borrowing my nephew to take him to the range lol. I usually go with my old man but they just started working 7 days a week for a big push on a job, might have to "rent a friend" thats available when i want to go.
  6. Not gonna get into my criminal history, but its nothing that could be considered a violent crime or disorderly conduct. Theres no reason i see that it could be an issue. I know people who have things on their record worst than mine and theyve been approved for firearms. Would be shocked if i was denied honestly. Only thing i could think of is if they were looking at the case file to see why the charges were dropped, waiting to here back from the superior court in my county, but i was able to print out everything from my computer and seeing that theyre the state police in trenton should easily have easy access to that information.
  7. I know, I just love to complain about sh*t. It wouldn’t be as bad waiting for the pistol permits if I had my ID card, least I would be able to go to the range and rent without having to be with someone else. Guess I’ll have to drag my wife there one night with me, have been trying to get her into it, she doesn’t mind me owning guns, just doesn’t seem to be interested in learning how to shoot. Appreciate your reply, and if I do have to wait till Feb I might lose my mind, feel like I’ve watched every video online and have read every review of everything I’ve been looking at. My local pd told me they issue them as soon as they get the check back from the state. I’m sure they’re blowing smoke.. I’ll just twiddle my thumbs till then, thanks for the info.
  8. Have already decided on the VP9 and P226 Legion. WIth a Springfield Armory Saint Edge in the middle.
  9. Nah, I dont aknowledge that pork roll exists, and ill also argue that theres no "Central" jersey, just north and south
  10. I stopped by my local department, Wharton, to fill out the paperwork for my initial ID card and also 2 permits (kicking myself in the ass for not getting at least 3) and the officer i spoke to told me it was alot easier and quicker just to apply online with their ORI number. Applied once i got home, OCT 23rd, and had both of my references send their replies back the same night. The earliest appointment i could find around the entire state to have my finger prints done was OCT 31st. Stopped at the station the following Monday to drop off my $9 fee and was told theyll grab it when i pick up my permits. Still waiting on my "automated responce" from the NJSP that i passed my background check, and needless to say im getting very antsy. Have already picked out the pistol and AR im buying the day i get them. I have read from other posts that the majority of people get the email saying they passed their background check within a few days. The only cog in the wheel i can possible think of was 10 years ago i was arrested for a non violent crime in which the charges were dropped. Ive paid for background checks in the past and its easily accessible information so the only reason so the wait is that since i technically have a "criminal record", 4th degree Mis which was dropped, they might just be "busting my balls". Has anyone else had trouble in a similar situation? I dont want to start hounding the wharton PD yet, was gonna give them another week. Appreciate taking the time to respond.
  11. Hey guys, Im Brian, Im new to the firearms community. Have shot friends guns in the past but just recently have applied for my ID card and pistol permits. My father actually got into guns a few years ago and hes hooked, so obviously the first time i went shooting with him I caught the bug. Living so close to RTSP in Randolph its a no brainer for me. What better way to blow off some steam than to empty a few boxes of ammo. So far Ive been creeping around the site and have already learned so much, looking forward to learning even more.
