  1. As I said in my previous post, I read about the automatic extension of E-permits somewhere in this forum (don't ask me where because I don't remember). I then called my local PD to confirm it. I never said I found a literature about it. When you said that you had been told to write a letter to your local police chief for an extension, were you talking about paper permit or E-permit? They are completely different animals and can't be mixed together. In this thread, I am strictly talking about the E-permits. If they automatically extend unused E-permits for additional 90 days, why don't they give 180 days from the get go to save time and trouble? I have no idea. However, I don't think an automatic extension can be a deterrent to getting permits in any way.
  2. Yesterday was the original expiration date of the initial 90 days of my E-permits and I found the following email from NJportal in my inbox this morning: This is the confirmation of renewal of Permit to Purchase a Handgun. Confirmation Number: XXXXXXXXXXX SBI Number: XXXXXXX Issuing Police Department: XXXXXXXXXXXXXX Contact Phone for Issuing Police Department: XXXXXXXXXX Status Update: Permit Renewal Number of Available Permits: 2 Expiry Date: 04/12/2021 All permits require a NICS Check to be conducted by a NJ Licensed Firearms Dealership, with the following exceptions: Transfer/sale between Law Enforcement Officer Transfer/Sale between Immediate Family Members Transfer/Sale with Licensed Curio/Relic Dealer If any of the above exception is applicable, the Private Seller can execute the permit at following website: Permit Execution Form for Private Seller. If you have any further questions about your card/permit please contact your issuing police department. See what else you can do online at www.NJ.gov. NJ.gov - The official web site for the State of New Jersey As my local PD told me, my unused E-permits have been automatically extended for 90 days and I now have a written notice to show for it. However, my original question, if there is any way I can view my own E-permits, remains unanswered. Unfortunately, the local PD does not have much information on E-permits to answer the question.
  3. No. The expiration date is 90 days from the issue date. It is supposed to be automatically extended for 90 days when the original expiration date hits. I can't look at my permits because these are E-permits.
  4. I spoke to my local PD today. I was told that my unused E-permits would be automatically extended for 90 days. I asked if I would receive an email indicating the new expiration date and was told that they didn't know since the system is still so new. My E-permits' original expiration date is January 12th. I will report back if I receive an email notice of extension.
  5. I had my first E-permit executed on Tuesday. I asked the shop clerk to look at my E-permit and tell me what expiration date it showed. It was the original expiration date (Jan 12th) which means the extension hasn't been done. I received an email from NJSP on the same day which contained a link to download and print the executed permit (!). I downloaded the executed permit but it only showed basic info and there was nothing new. I will have to call my local PD one of these days and ask about the extension procedure.
  6. According to my approval email, my E-permits are to expire on Jan 12th. I read in this forum that the E-permits are issued for 90 days initially and will automatically be extended for another 90 days. I would like to view the permits to see if the expiration date is stated as Jan 12th. Has anyone done this? If so, what website should I go to? Also, if and when your E-permits are automatically extended, will you receive another email from NJSP with a new expiration date? Without it, I will have nothing to show the dealer that I have a valid permit(s).
  7. I wonder if the "Access Key" is the "Confirmation Number" they send you in the approval email? It's a 11-digit number.
  8. Gun Broker? Is it a type of business or a specific enterprise? Can you share a link?
  9. I'm afraid it will be awhile until I can exercise my E-permits. I'm intending to go to my dealer (RTSP) tomorrow morning but I'm pretty sure they don't have the guns I want in stock. I will place an order tomorrow but God knows how long it will take for the guns to get in...
  10. I just got the approval email from the NJSP. Here is what it says: Confirmation Number: XXXXXXXXX SBI Number: XXXXXX Issuing Police Department: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX Contact Phone for Issuing Police Department: XXXXXXXXXX Status Update: Approved Your application for a New Jersey Firearm Purchaser Identification Card and/or Permit to Purchase a Handgun(s) has been approved by the issuing authority. Your electronic permits are now available for execution. Please note that the Issuing Authority will no longer have these available in paper form. Number of Active Permits Available: 3 Expiry Date: 01/12/2021 All permits require a NICS Check to be conducted by NJ Licensed Firearms Dealership, with the following exceptions: Transfer/sale between Law Enforcement Officer Transfer/Sale between Immediate Family Members Transfer/Sale with Licensed Curio/Relic Dealer In these exceptional conditions, the Private Seller can execute the permit at following website: Permit Execution Form for Private Seller. If you have any further questions about the pick-up of your card/permit please contact your issuing police department. There is nothing about permit extension. I hope the local PD will know what to do by the time it gets closer to the expiry date. It has taken 11 days including a weekend from the beginning to the end. Not bad.
  11. Okay, here is the deal: I went to the local PD this morning to pay for the permits (to think just $6 for 3 permits could be $150 if Murphy gets his way...). Now, the Chief will approve me online and then I will receive an email from the NJSP which includes the instructions and a confirmation number. I will then bring the letter and the confirmation number to a dealer and they will go online and be able to look at my permits. I can only hope my dealer (RTSP) is on the same page about this. I asked 1) if I could look at the permits by going online and using the confirmation number; 2) what would be the procedure for an extension. The local PD didn't have answers to either of these questions. The process seemed to be too new to them and they are still in the learning curve.
  12. Absolutely! I was told I could go this afternoon by 4 pm to pay for the permits but decided to wait until tomorrow morning due to my work schedule. I don't know if my E-permits will be valid right away upon payment but I'll find out tomorrow.
  13. I'm a little nervous about being one of the firsts to use E-permits for a handgun purchase. What if the dealer doesn't know where they need to go see the E-permit and/or what to do with it? Hope it will go smoothly...
  14. The paper permits did come with the extended date already imprinted. But I thought it still needed Police Chief's signature for the extension to be effective. I will report back about the extension procedure of the E-permits.
  15. I got a phone call from my local PD today and my P2P will be E-permits! I still have to go there in person to pay for them but my permits will be paperless. I asked about the extension procedure but the person whom I was speaking with didn't have the answer. He said he would have the answer when I come in. It sounded like my case is one of their firsts. BTW, I submitted my application through the FARS on 10/5 and the criminal record check was done by the State Police on 10/7. The local PD called me on the same day (10/7) and told me that they were just waiting for the Chief to sign my permits. I guess it was changed to E-permits between then and now.
  16. They are not taking reservations over the phone or online. You have to go there in person to check in. Then you will get a text when your spot becomes available. Works okay if you live somewhat close or have errands to run in the area. Yup, I am a member. The wait might have been shorter if I went in the members only time slots (8 to 10 am Sat & Sun).
  17. Went to RTSP Randolph today. Arrived there at around 3 pm and I was told the wait had been 2.5 hours but it was moving a little quicker now. Ended up waiting for 2.5 hours anyhow but I got 60 minutes of range time. It felt so good to shoot my new guns for the first time since I bought them in March and June, respectively. It worked pretty well since they can give you a rough estimate of the wait when you sign up. You sign up and leave and come back a bit earlier than the estimated waiting time to minimize the wait in the car.

    Show off your Sigs!

My new P320 X5 Legion and P320 RXP X Full. I don't know how much longer I have to wait to shoot them for the first time....
  19. I haven't been able to shoot my brand new X5 Legion.... A couple weeks ago, I bought a second pistol: Sig P320 RXP X Full-Size. Both guns have been cleaned and lubed and are patiently waiting for range re-open...
  20. I submitted on Monday afternoon (4/13) and approved on Thursday, the 16th.
  21. Update: My luck continues! Every time I complain something on this thread, it would come through within a day from the posting. My NICS came back this morning and the firearm is ready to be picked up!
  22. I put in my NICS on Monday and was told it would be a few days. This is not good news....
