  1. I figured it out Looked at a video as well, so yes it is 18.5 inch, For now just leaving the barrel as is , the PD meant manufacture date and I reached out to Remington with serial number supposed to get back to me tell me what type of barrel i have. Thanks for all your help. JZ
  2. Must say thank you all, been getting an amazing amount of information, My intended use is self defense at short and the longest distance possible with the 18 inch barrel, I thought a choke would help for longer distance to keep the spread tight but I do not know the answer to that , it was kinda of logical in my mind but I am probably wrong , still learning and you all are defiantly helping me learn. Much appreciated. JZ
  3. Got it I'll take another look , all the way to the right there is a PD stamp , I tried to look it up , but I am waiting for an answer from Remington I emailed them last night.
  4. Sorry I don’t know I measured it up to the ejector it was 18 maybe 18.5
  5. The only other letters on the barrel are PD , along with * 12GA. 2 3/4 “ or 3” and the manufacturers name.
  6. Yeah I thought that , I looked on the barrel , only says what size shell it can take 2 3/4 or 3 inch and the other side just manufacture name.
  7. Hello all ! , So I have had my Remington for a few years now purchased it for a just in case , shot some slugs out of it at the range pretty dam on the mark, I just modified it looks awesome, but I just went to look and found there is No Choke on my 870 , no treads to take a choke either, I stuck my pinky down for a feel and nothing no treads. Hmm confused. On the side of the barrel it says takes 2 3/4 or 3 inch, so my question is can I shoot any type of ammo out of my Remington 870 , buck shot , slug yes i did already , 4 pellet 7 pellet Does it matter ? Still learning thanks. JZ
  8. Thanks for the info, very much appreciated , I feel liberated Now !!! JZ
  9. Good morning all, I have a modification question, I currently own a Remington 870 pump action 12 gage shotgun that was purchased in NJ, is it legal to modify to a pistol grip with a telescoping stock or does the stock have to be pinned ? I have browsed over NJ Gun Laws but I cannot seem to find a concrete answer. Thanks for the help. John.
