  1. That's unfortunate. I'm not comfortable shooting sub/micro compacts. I need a gun with a little bit of girth to it. I also don't really enjoy shooting single stacks, except maybe a 1911, but I wouldn't carry one for obvious reasons. If the choices above won't work, then I need to go back to the drawing board I guess. I thought there would be people who've conceal carried guns in the 3.9" - 4.1" barrel range, but all I keep seeing is the same guns over and over again. (Shield, Hellcat, P365, etc.) The search continues...
  2. We had a Shield 2.0 for a few months and it was probably the worst gun I've ever shot. Everything about it was so uncomfortable. We ended up consigning it and getting the P320 X Compact.
  3. I'm thinking I'm going to want to eventually get a CCW and want to start thinking about which gun I want to train with. I'll probably only qualify with 1 pistol so I'm having a hard time deciding which way to go. I currently have an X-Five Legion and a Canik Rival, both I feel are too large to conceal carry comfortably. My wife has a P320 X Compact that's a good size but I don't want to carry the same gun as her if she decides to get her CCW as well. I don't really enjoy shooting sub or micro compacts. Looking at something around the size of a Glock 19 that's not a Glock. I've kind of narrowed it down to a few possibilities. A P229 Legion, a Walther PDP with a 4" barrel or the VP9 with the 4.09" barrel. My X-Five Legion is a dream to shoot, so I'm sure the P229 is just as good. Plus I think it's a steel frame so it's got some built-in recoil mitigation. I'm assuming the other 2 pistols will shoot similar to my Canik Rival, which is also very nice by the way. I'm leaning towards the P229, but I can almost buy both of the other guns for a little bit more money. I don't know why I'm having such a hard time with this. It seems like no matter which I choose, I'll have made a good decision. I guess I just want to know if anyone carries any of these guns and what your thoughts are. Sorry for the long winded post!
  4. My latest pickup. It's a P320 X-Five Legion. It pairs nicely with my wife's P320 X-Compact!
  5. It's a beaut Clark! Love my 4" 686 Plus!
  6. That's what he mentioned....a COE. Thank you very much for your help.
  7. I asked my LGS about the process of transferring my daughter's rifle into my name. He said all I need to do is go to the NJSP website and choose transfer between immediate family with NICS exemption. The only thing I see there says Transfer of handgun to immediate family. Nothing about long guns. Do I use the same form? It's asking for a FARS confirmation number for a permit, but I shouldn't need a permit for a long gun.
  8. Was looking into getting something like this for my Canik TP9SFX. https://45blast.com/products/canik-tp9sfx-compensator I'm not sure what the law is regarding putting a compensator on a pistol. I know it's okay on a rifle as long as it's welded on. I see guns for sale with threaded barrels all the time here, but not too many guns with compensators for sale.
  9. I've got my eye on either a Sig P320 X-Five Legion or the new S&W M&P 2.0 10mm. My ultimate prize is a Beretta 92X Performance but I'm not ready to drop 15 hundred on it.
  10. Eventually we will get her one of her own. When that happens, I'll probably take everything off and just put a Romeo 5 on it. But for now, she wants to be able to shoot mine.
  11. You're very right. She's a keeper!
  12. Tell me about it. Especially with a wife who's goal is to see how many range days she can cram into a month.
  13. We've had a Smith & Wesson SW22 Victory and/or a Walther PPQ 22 on our radar for a while now actually. We'll eventually own one (or both).
  14. Wife had an M&P Shield 2.0 in 9mm for a little bit but she hated shooting it so she ended up consigning it.
  15. Yep. I posted it over there last week I think lol
  16. It's a little on the heavy side. The bipod is mostly so my wife can shoot it. She has plates and screws in her neck so she has a hard time supporting the rifle while shooting. I can manage it pretty well though.
  17. Hey all. So we are about a year in from first getting our FID cards. Our current collection consists of the following: Sig P320X Compact RXP (9mm) Canik TP9SFX (9mm) Smith & Wesson 686-6 Plus (.357 Magnum) Kimber Custom LW Shadow Ghost (.45 acp) RIA Rock Series 1911 FS Matte Nickel (.45 acp) Smith & Wesson M&P 15-22 (.22LR) Stag Arms Stag 15 Tactical (5.56/.223) RIA AG Pump Action Shotgun (12ga) We are still looking into a nice Bolt-Action and/or possibly an AK variant. Something with some wood furniture would be nice.
  18. Just wanted to post a pic of my current setup on my Stag 15 Tactical. Stag Arms Stag 15 Tactical w/ Magpul MOE Stock & Grip (Chambered in 5.56) Vortex Strikefire II RDS + Vortex VMX-3T Magnifier Magpul MBUS Flip-Up Sights Magpul Hand Stop & Rail Covers Magpul Bipod Streamlight Pro-Tac Flashlight with Magpul 45 Degree Offset mount and Cloud Defensive LCS Radian Raptor Ambi Charging Handle
  19. So my wife got me a new knife over the weekend because I was complaining to her that my old one is shot. She ended up getting me a Smith & Wesson Tanto Folding Knife. It's very nice and very sharp, but I'm worried that it also might be very illegal to carry here in NJ due to the size. I've always carried smaller multi-tool knives in the past. Reading up on the current NJ Knife laws, it's difficult to understand how the knife might be classified. It's obvious that it is not a gravity knife, switchblade, dagger, dirk, stiletto or ballistic knife, but I also see the words "other dangerous knife" as well. I mean, any knife can be a dangerous knife depending on how you use it. I am only using it as a utility/survival knife, but I'm worried if that reason does not meet the "explainable lawful purpose" definition. The blade measures about 3.5" and the overall length is about 8". It also has a built-in seat belt cutter and a window punch. Anyone have any experience with this? (If this post is inappropriate here, please delete and I apologize)
  20. I'm not sure lol. I'm new to optics so I wasn't sure what I was and wasn't supposed to be able to do with them. The magnifier says that it can be mounted for Absolute and Lower 1/3 Co-Witness heights. That kinda made me believe it was supposed to work in conjunction with the BUIS if necessary. I'm okay with how I have it set up right now, I just wanted to make sure I was mounting it correctly.
  21. If my eye is 2" or less from the magnifier optic, I can see everything great. Anything beyond that and to drop off in the FOV is massive. If I position the magnifier forward enough to clear the rear sight when it's flipped up, I can barely see anything at all through the magnifier. I can just about make out the red dot but I can't see what I'm aiming at in the FOV. I positioned the magnifier back as far as I can so that it sits over top of my rear sight so I have better FOV if I'm just using the magnifier/RDS, but then I can't co-witness with the BUIS while the magnifier is down. I need to flip it up and then I can co-witness with just the BUIS and the RDS. Is that how it's intended to work?
  22. I had the option of mounting it either way so I mounted it so it flips to the right. It's easier for me that way. I ended up mounting it over top of my rear iron sight. That means I can co-witness with the RDS only and not with both the RDS and the magnifier. If I push the magnifier far enough down the rail to clear the rear sight when it's flipped up, the FOV is non-existent. I need to push it as far back on the rail as I can to be usable. But then I have to flip the magnifier out of the way to access the BUIS.
  23. I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong or not while mounting the magnifier. The optical end of the magnifier has to be like 1 inch from my eye for me to see the total field of view. I tried to mount it in front of my rear iron sight and the field of view was so tiny I could hardly see through it. Does that seem right?
  24. I'll have to see when I get it I guess. I thought I read that this particular combo was good for eye relief.
  25. I know the Strikefire II comes with a forward cantilever mount. Will that make it better or worse?
