  1. I'm in the same situation as OP. I have a Subaru (hatchback), so there's no way to have a locked trunk/separate area. For handgun and ammo transport to/from a range, do both the handgun and ammo need to both be locked separately? The legal language is not exactly perfectly clear. I was thinking maybe a cable lock for the handgun (in a case) and then the ammo/magazines in a separate lock box. Would that be enough? Thanks!
  2. Just signed up to post this (also posted to /r/NJGuns on reddit). I'm in Sussex County; Hopatcong Borough. Started application: August 2 References submitted: August 3 First contact from PD: August 3 (asked for photo of DL / Passport) Fingerprint appointment #1: August 22 (I was on vacation the week prior and couldn't make an appointment any sooner). Fingerprint appointment #2: Sept 8 (something came up on Aug 22 and I couldn't make it). Background Check Completed: Sept 11 Permit Application Approved: Oct 7 Call from PD to pick up FID: Oct 26 Picked up FID/permit: Oct 28 (was told not to show up before this day) Keep in mind that three weeks of that period were caused by me 1) being on vacation and unavailable to schedule a fingerprint session, 2) something outside my control causing me to miss my appointment and have to reschedule (which cost another 2 weeks). So not bad at all, based on what I've been reading. Other notes: the records clerk at the PD was super friendly. I was expecting an icy reception, but she and whoever the other guy there was were both all jokey and nice. Also, there was a line of dudes waiting to pickup either FID or purchase permits behind me. The window for pickup is between 5pm and 7pm; I got there at 5:05 and was the third person to pick up. Place was busy as hell.
