  1. I'm sure that you know that I can't comment on any of that . . .
  2. Thanks everybody! There's plenty of time for all of you to move to my district before the election. I have a spare bedroom and garage plus there's a self-storage building nearby . . . Just bring steaks for the grill!
  3. It begins with an "R" and ends with a "can" . . .
  4. My name is Ed Farmer . . . This went on Facebook this morning . . . There will be a more formal announcement later. It's official . . . I am a candidate for the New Jersey State Assembly. I am running in Legislative District 6 which includes the towns of Berlin Township, Cherry Hill, Collingswood, Gibbsboro, Haddon, Haddonfield, Hi-Nella, Maple Shade, Merchantville, Oaklyn, Pennsauken, Somerdale, Stratford, Tavistock, Voorhees. Our state government is broken. The governor makes up the rules as he goes. Our courts rewrite laws as they see fit. Our legislature sits there fat, dumb and happy that they can escape responsibility for anything that happens. We have automatic fuel tax increases. We have virtually automatic income tax increases. Property taxes in New Jersey are the highest in the nation with no sign of slowed growth. The government grows and requires more of your money while they assume that you can do with less. It's time for the people to take control back from the politicians. It's time for the legislature to stand up and take responsibility for what has been going on. This CAN be done, but we all need to take control and send a message to Trenton by sending new messengers. If you live in the district, I need your help and support. If you do not, there are others who need you, but I will be happy to hear from all of you. A campaign page will be set up soon, but please don't hesitate to reach out starting today.
  5. This afternoon, I requested three purchase permits in Cherry Hill . . . I'll post updates each step of the way. Application was filed on the afternoon of 3/11 (a Thursday) and a fee of $21 was paid on line. Reference One Complete: 3/11 Reference Two Complete: Reference says that he completed this on 3/14 but I haven't received confirmation. Criminal History Check Complete: 3/12 Received Notice to pay $6 to LPD: 3/12 . . . Paid on 3/15. Permits Ready to Pick Up: I'll add any other dates that seem relevant.
  6. Every one of us have three representatives in the assembly. One senator and two assemblymen. They don't like to hear complaints from constituents. I would suggest that you contact all three offices after 60 days and then every 30 there after. The truth is that the law needs to be changed. The 30 day limit was put in and overridden back when much of the check was manual. With all of the automation, it makes no sense that that it remains ignored. It's time for the legislature and/or the courts to revisit the decision.
  7. Check with Legacy in Cinnaminson - 856-499-2917 I don't have any AR experience with them (I would probably do it myself) but they done some good work for me.
  8. I know that Justified isn't old enough for TV Land but a Raylon Givens class would be great! Damn, I miss Rockford, Mannix and Magnum . . .
  9. That's just not how laws like this work . . .
  10. Yes . . . We've known that for quite some time.
  11. Well . . . The consequence was that the PD was required to issue the FID at the 30 day mark. I'm not sure what other consequence could be prescribed. This is why there WAS a court case. Someone didn't get their card and took the PD to court. The court decided that it didn't like the statute as written and removed the 30 day requirement without providing another. The proper action following the court decision would have been for the legislature to revisit the statute and come up with something that would satisfy the court. In this case, the legislature punted. This isn't how things are supposed to work. This is one of the reasons that I am considering running for assembly.
  12. There's not a town in NJ (opinion!) that any officers dedicated to firearms work. If they tell you that they have three people, that's three people working on firearms when they have nothing else to do. If there's a bicycle stolen from the school yard (do kids even ride bikes to school anymore?) that will get priority. As I remember, the 30 limit and the overriding court decision predate computer checks and computerized records. The FARS system and other automation would allow quicker checks but local PDs on tight budgets just cut available resources so everything takes just as long as it always has. The court ruling left the process open ended so there is no need for them to worry about how long they take. Today, the checks could easily be in less than 30 days. The problem is that they spend more than 30 days sitting on desks. Perhaps another challenge to the statute would produce a different result. But, the reality is that the states firearms law should ALL be revisited.
  13. They do not. I haven't heard any talk about exclusions for Family Leave. Unemployment has it's own line on the 1040 form and is treated as a unique type of income. We don't see a lot of FML in our office. You need to see how it is handled on your W-2. I'd be happy to talk to you privately if you need any help.
  14. I have to admit that I don't know the history. But, it doesn't matter. The legislature specified 30 days and the courts ruled that "public safety" takes precedence. The proper response from the legislature is to revisit and clarify their intent. They are too chickenshit to do so. They should be hearing from those who vote for or against them.
  15. I do anywhere between 100 and 250 personal returns a year. This has always been a problem in NJ. Unemployment payments are not subject to state taxes but are, for some reason, taxable at the federal level. This has always presented problems for some. Even when you tell the state to withhold federal taxes, they often fail to take out enough. The worst case is a married couple where one collects while the other continues to work. This can put the unemployment into a higher tax bracket and under withholding occurs. We are seeing more problems this year simply because more people collected unemployment last year and the payments were considerably higher. No . . . The deal, which I do not believe is in place yet, has nothing to do with whether or not the taxpayer had any federal taxes withheld. They are talking about waiving taxes for the first $10,200 in payments for anyone who collected. Yes, if this goes through and you have already filed, you MAY have to file an amended return but there are other ways that it could be handled by the IRS. We don't know yet.
  16. Has anyone contacted or considered contacting the state representatives or municipal council members? The PDs aren't worried about the 30 statute because the courts backed them up. But, the courts ignored/overrode the legislature with that ruling and some of them might be pissed off. Even if they are not pissed about it, they don't want to hear from constituents having problems. Let them know that they will be held accountable. I don't think that we will ever get back to the text of the 30 day statute. But, we could take steps. Perhaps making the PD provide a written notice every 30 days, to include the reasons for the delay and any negative findings. These notices could be collected by the state police and a periodic report could be produced on the time that it takes to get issued and the reasons for the delay. Small steps . . .
  17. Well . . . Hasn't this gotten out of hand . . .
  18. Well . . . That sucks and thanks for warning us . . . I'm in Cherry Hill as well but haven't been there. But, you had the option of contacting them before setting up to do the transfer there and asking about the price. This is why I TRY to use the same few shops where I already know people. Once the gun is left there, you don't have a lot of options.
  19. The tide CAN be turned . . . The next administration isn't likely to revamp NJ draconian carry laws but progress can be made. Smaller changes and the result of those changes can be used to convince more in the state that legal gun ownership isn't a danger but is actually a plus. VOTE in November with this in mind. Vote at ALL levels with this in mind.
  20. The .22s will not go bad (or out of style) and you can always pick up a rifle to plink around with those. Request another P2P now. Today. Do not delay. It shouldn't take anywhere near as long as your last request because that one included the FID. You can also follow up with a .22 handgun purchase. As for advice on your first purchase, what's the purpose? Let that question drive your decision.
  21. In simple terms . . . Any short barrelled 12 or 20 gauge pump. Short barrel to maneuver around the house and pump to scare the shit out of them without firing a shot.
  22. Federal American Eagle M193 5.56mm 55 Grain FMJ. 200 rounds (10 boxes of 20). $140 Sending PM
