  1. I'm actually going to counter some of what's above . . . I would actually recommend NOT going with a 9mm and instead adding a .223/5.56 AR platform instead.  Make sure that the barrel you will run both.

The advantage?  9mm is and will likely remain difficult to get.  You can, with an easily installed kit, run .22LR through the AR which lets you blast away all that you want with the cheapest of rounds.

This gives you the options of .22, .223, 5.56 and 9mm ammo for home defense.  You should almost always be able to buy at least one of those at any time.

    So . . . I would say a 16" AR in 5.56 or .223 Wylde and a bolt and magazine for .22LR.

  2. Don't know your skills so I don't know if you can do it or not . . . But, if you type "2011 honda pilot valve adjustment" into your favorite search engine you will find some videos that show you what you need to do and you can decide for yourself.

    Let us know!

  3. I'm on the payroll.  We have the same name but that won't carry any weight.  What if it was HIS gun kept here?

A taser is a pretty good suggestion as is mace or pepper.

There's no bat in the office but there is a big assed knife.

I'm not talking about "business disputes"  . . .  There is usually only a few thousand dollars cash here but some of our clients could EASILY believe that there is a lot more and some think that we are actually a branch of the government.

  4. I'm pissed with the NRA over the financial misdealing.  Not their activity or lack thereof.  It's not the NRA's fault that we are getting screwed in NJ.  It's our own.  We're the ones electing these asshats.

It doesn't matter what you groups you donate to.  Sure, the local groups keep the money and efforts here and the NRA MAY be better on the national stage.  But, just giving either money doesn't do anything to assure your rights.  Activity is the only thing that will do that.

  5. But, I'll ask anyway:  I have a part-time, second job that is seasonal.  The season is starting now.  For the next few month, I will be spending a few evenings and Sundays in a small office owned by my father.  We will have clients coming in randomly (very few schedule appointments), many are on the less than savory side of the spectrum.  In years past, we have had to throw some out, some issued threats, some came back with friend.  The police have been in the office on a number of occasions.  We are, by some of our clients, mistaken for a government office.

Is there a legal way that I can arm myself for this situation?

As noted, I'm very sure that I know the answer.  However, I am also interested in the discussion.

If you sell a rifle while living in NJ to someone in a free state do you need to go through an FFL being in NJ? Say, selling to someone in South Carolina? And the rifle originally being purchased in NJ.

If the buyer and seller do not reside in the same state, an FFL is ALWAYS required.  This has nothing to do with any state laws.  Inter-state commerce is the purview of the federal government.

Strangely enough it looks like it was related to the magazine.  If magazine was filled to capacity problem would occur on first two rounds.  If magazine was downloaded two rounds it ran fine.

Try some new, or newer, magazines.  The rolls at the top of the body may have worn or straightened allowing the second round down to interfere with the top round clearing out of the mag.  Downloading two rounds reduces the spring pressure enough that the problem doesn't occur.

  8. Can you post a link to this info?  I'd be interested in seeing some South Jersey data.

As I've noted elsewhere, I live in Democrat controlled Cherry Hill, in Democrat controlled Camden County . . . obviously, all in Democrat controlled New Jersey.  I already had my FID when I moved here two years ago but the PD was great when I changed the address on my FID and last September when applied for three handgun permits.  They even ISSUED the permits with the 90 day extension essentially giving me 180 day permits.

I don't know if they like my face and I don't know if anyone else in town would tell you the same thing.  I just executed the last of the three and I'm considering three more . . . You know . . . Just in case . . .

  9. I joined the NRA because the closest range to my home requires it.  But, until they get their house cleaned up, they don't get another penny.

The NRA is a big sponge that absorbs money AND takes the brunt of the government attention.  We, the voting, Second Amendment supporting, gun owning, citizens are the ones responsible for our rights.  We can't remain quiet.

Not really, as I said in original post it takes in the most states around the same time to get Nics back as before covid. I have friends with guns in Massachusetts, Virginia, N Carolina, Pensilvania, Georgia, Florida, Arkansas, and even in California!!! Neither is complaining on NICS  is slow as 5 days now in NJ. Yes all without guns and ammo in stores but nobody is complaining on Nics.

You're still missing the point . . . Only a small portion of the time that you are "waiting for a NICS check" is actually the check.  Most of the time that you are waiting, you are actually waiting for the NJSP to pick up the work (online or paper, it doesn't matter) then the check is done quickly, then the NJSP has to communicate the status back to your local PD.  The slow down IS here in NJ.  It doesn't take 5 days to run a NICS.

  11. Everyone here is making assumptions and jumping to conclusions.

This has nothing to do with whatever any of could do in self defense here in NJ or any other state.

The idea that "he pulled the trigger" means that it wasn't an accidental discharge.  The trigger can pulled both on purpose and by accident.

The fact that he fired without a clear field behind the target is an assumption.  Perhaps he moved because he could clear the officers behind the woman and perhaps he only fired one shot because of the target confusion.

There are places in federally owned buildings where the standards are different.  This woman may have represented a significant threat inside that door without regard to her being armed or potentially having.  What constitutes a threat is different depending on what it is that you are protecting.

PERHAPS a better move would have been for two officers to set on her as soon as she climbed through the window.  Then the officer with the drawn weapon could have stepped out and point his weapon directly at the next person near the window.  But, again, I don't think that any of us know the threat assessment rules that were in place in that situation.

I just saw the video on TV.  The shot was NOT justified.  The shooter was not in harm's way at THAT moment.

That’s just foolish. A law enforcement officer doesn’t necessarily need to be in harms way to make a justifiable shoot.

  13. I had not seen that much of it . . . Work has been a priority and I have been listening to news on the radio not watching TV or the internet.

I will not say that I'm convinced but that looks much worse than I expected.  You still can't see what she was actually doing.

  14. At this point, I still do not believe that she was shot on purpose.  I believe that it was an accidental discharge.

Not that this makes anything much bettter.

I believe that the Capital Police are bound by DC law when they are on the streets.  The Capital is federal property and they likely have expanded powers there.
